I would describe half of their colors as manufacturing process accidents...

I doubt they started off trying to make a “starlight” color, and just found that they couldn’t quite get silver or white and rather than change it, just stuck to it and made up a color name.

Opinion wanted: Will the Dark Cherry colored Smart Folio compliment the champaign color of the Starlight iPad Mini.
Not having actually seen these colors in real life, my guess is the Dark Cherry Folio will be:
Best with Pink
Fine with Starlight
Not great with Space Gray
Bad with Purple

Pretty subjective, though

I ordered this color combo...I wanted the pink but couldn't pull the trigger because I didn't want it to be too feminine.
My thoughts exactly. The pink is very muted and low key but I thought I would be happier with the more neutral starlight over time. I hope it is as intriguing as the name!

I take it you are not a romantic!

It's the safe option. Reminiscent of champagne beige Toyota Camry's of the early 2000's.

Safe, quotidian, won't show scuffs. Good resale. Won't upset the neighbors.

Check, check, check. Check and check!

This clashes with my “rules are for fools” sensibilities, but since my hopes for a green mini were dashed by the blue eyed, blue-loving Titan of Apple, I am left with the sensible (but hopefully surprisingly appealing) Starlight.

As an iPhone 12 owner I can say it is a pale warm white. It‘s definitely not gold, I’d even go as far to call it eggshell. it’s only noticibly different when viewed under certain lighting conditions or when compared side to side with silver and white. It took me a week or so to even notice at the beginning that it was off.

All the colors will look good with the exception of purple. That particular shade of purple isn't very flattering on other colors. It's almost too in between. It either needs to be darker or lighter.

Several people have ordered Dark Cherry folio with the Purple iPad, with many "Likes" by others, so it got me thinking whether this combo might be good. I think I would need to see it irl to see if it works for me.
It's great not everyone thinks the same!

I find it funny how everyone in here seems to see and compare the Starlight color to different things. It really means that one has to see it in person Personally.

The white balance of a photo effects the color of everything in the photo. In a real photo you can see something familiar (say a soda can) and judge the WB. And therefore know what tint is masking the true color.

With a white background there are no such clues. Which is all we have from apple until units start hitting the real world.
