Color doesn’t seem to be what I expected but it looks classy based on the pictures provided.

The fact that’s it’s name is “starlight” suggests it’s been in the works since iPhone 5 times. Think about it…Space Grey…Starlight….they probably had the name back then but couldn’t produce the color to their liking until now.

Guys, it’s a muted champagne gold. Which is exactly what I expected based on the keynote.

Update: having taken my Mini 6 out of the box and seeing it in the flesh, I can confirm that my initial description of it as a muted version of 2013's gold (iPhone 5s) is correct, but only under warm lighting. Under cool lighting, the yellow tones wash out (while the 5s gold resembles Starlight under warm lighting when viewed under cool lighting).

Just came from the store. Under "daylight" colored lights in the store it looks silver, but if you look at something else that's silver (like a Macbook sitting right next to it) you'll see the gold hue in it.

If kind of tricked my vision whenever I looked at it.

Received my Starlight mini today, see comparison photo with silver mini 4 below, taken under cloudy daylight. It’s a light champagne, bronze (brownish) rather than brass/gold (yellowish), a bit more saturated in real-life than in the photo. Personally I think I would only mistake it for silver under yellow/warm lighting.

I sincerely doubt this is true. They could easily have just called gold "Starlight" and no one would have questioned it if they wanted to use the name. I now have an iPhone 13 mini and an iPad mini in Starlight and there's nothing particularly unique about the colour that makes me go "well this is why they never used the name until now."

I think they wanted a name that covers both the light-bronze-ish aluminum and the off-white iPhone 13 back color. Also the aluminum color isn't saturated enough to call it "xy gold" (e.g. "bronze gold") (although the same could arguably be said about the iPhone 13 pink).

I have a Mini and a 13 Pro Max in Starlight and I agree that the color is classy. It isn’t white, silver, or gold but more a melange of all of them. It is like a warm silver. I think it is rather unique in a subtle way and I really love it so far and think it will wear well over time.

Opinion wanted: Will the Dark Cherry colored Smart Folio compliment the champaign color of the Starlight iPad Mini.
I ordered dark cherry for my starlight mini 6 and ended up switching to off-white once I saw the cherry in person. It is actually a kind of deep purple/plum rather than a burnished reddish brown. The starlight is truly lovely in my opinion and would go well with the cherry if you enjoy purple tones.

How would I describe Starlight, in a word? Ugly.

Seriously, it's the color of watered-down urine. I don't know whose bright idea it was to replace silver with piss-yellow, but they should be fired or at least moved to a less influential position.
Wow. I simply could not disagree with you more. I have a Mini 6 and a 13 PM in Starlight and do not see yellow, much less “piss yellow”. I do see a warmer, softer silver that I find to be a refreshing change from the usual cold silver tones. Beauty is clearly in the eye…

Several people have ordered Dark Cherry folio with the Purple iPad, with many "Likes" by others, so it got me thinking whether this combo might be good. I think I would need to see it irl to see if it works for me.
It's great not everyone thinks the same!

Having seen it, I do think the dark cherry would look great with the pink. It is much more deep purple than I expected from the photos.

I'm glad you like it! I went with Space Gray, given the lack of silver this time, but it sounds like we're both happy with our purchases. ??
