I had my 5s off the charger 3hrs 20mins. I streamed an hour of iTunes radio to my Beats box via bluetooth, browsed the web, texts and played words with friends. 1hr 52min of usage and my battery was still at 93%. Last night was my first charge too. Pretty impressed.

Getting about 8-9 hours of usage so far. Very happy with it.

Same here. Have been using it pretty heavily since Monday and consistently in the 8 to 9 hours range of usage. (Though I usually start charging when it gets down to 30% or so, so I'm just taking it on faith that the last 30% would be consistent).

I'm only getting around 5hr usage on my 5s

I've only been using mine for about 8 hours now, but the battery life seems excellent. I went out and was using it but the battery never dipped below 100% in around an hour.

That's based off the first full charge.

I think mine is a bit buggy... any thoughts from you guys?

I have almost everything turned off (parallax, bluetooth, location services, airdrop, etc)

i get around 5hrs debating if i should return and get another one or wait and see if it gets better

What i have figure out from iphones is the battery is not calibrated correctly.

What I do, and this gives me the "best battery" possible, is 1) the first day I have the phone dont let the battery die completely, use it till about 30% 2) charge the phone overnight 3) use the phone next day until battery is so low the phone no longer turns on What you will notice is that the battery will drop quickly at first then it will slow down (it will go from 90 to 80% in 1 hour but go from 10 to 5% in 3 hours). 4) charge fully again next day and use normally. That will tell you how good the usage is and if the battery size fits your needs

People post battery results with 20% remaining complaining that they only get 3 hours. Well its probably because your phones battery is not calibrated with the circuit that reads capacity. Discharging and recharging from 0% doesnt add battery capacity but it does make the percentage meter more accurate.

and how much usage u get?

Probably just stating the obvious here but make sure you turn off bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you aren't using them. These absolutely destroyed the battery life in my old iPhone 4. I've only had my 5s for about half a day now so I can't say anything certain but so far my battery life seems on par with my iPhone 4 with these disabled.

Good tip, especially since it's so easy to do now with control center.

I don't have the exact numbers right now, because my 5S is charging. I got the phone on tuesday and charged it up to 100% right away, today is thursday and i just plugged it in.
So this is the first full reload cycly(10%->100%) which basically means it will improve a bit within the next days.

I like the fact that i only need the charge the phone every second day. My 4S needed power every day.

Don't worry guys, I found that by using the map app Waze for 1 hour 40mins, my battery went from 71% to 31%, that app really drains battery, apart from that, watching YouTube videos and taking videos gives fairly high usage, but am still to check intense gaming on it

Same here. I made a Genius Bar appointment for this Saturday.

Did all this twice, actually. Also turned off parallax, Bluetooth, background app refresh, improve maps, frequent locations, a bunch of system services, disabled send diagnostics, and keep auto brightness on and usually have brightness at 60%, never higher. This is only with web browsing and using Twitter/Facebook and a couple texts thrown in. Only getting 5 hours of usage with simple tasks like this is ridiculous and unacceptable, especially when others are easily getting 7-10 hours of usage with 12-15 hours of standby. And yes, I setup the phone as new when I got it last week.

Fantastic!!!!! For the first time in a very long time my iPhone (now a 5s) lasts morning to night without a charge. Up and unplugged at 6am and at 10pm still 30 percent left. Freaking amazing compared to my 5.

I wish mine got battery life like this. I unplug around 7:15am and it's dead by noon-1pm with light usage. So annoying.

The trouble is battery life is 100% dependant on what you're DOING.

I can get "days" if I don't use it.

5 hours is awesome on max brightness, using lte nonstop, and playing IB3.

You have unrealistic expectations. There is NOTHING wrong with your phone, you should just put it down every hour or so.

MOST people get 8-12 hours during a day where they work or have a life and use it as a phone. Even spending 20% of your time on it is fine, but I see TONS of people literally mesmerized by it, and that will of course drain your battery.

Well the iPhone 5 I handed down to my wife (she lets me use her upgrades) is so bad in 3 hours she is at 30% available. She's furious so I ordered her a 5s at the +$250 mid contract price. Now if it will ever get here.

You all do realize that the battery life will get better with updates right? Brand new OS, and brand new phone don't equal excellent battery life.

While this is very true, something is clearly wrong when other users and I can only get 3-5 hours of usage with 9-10 hours of standby while most users are getting 7-10 hours of usage with 12-15 hours of standby with similar (and in some cases, higher) usage. Something is clearly wrong there.

Got my 5S on Monday evening, charged all night
Monday night. Now it's Thursday morning and it
still has 73% remaining. Seems to be doing at
least as wells my 4S did, maybe even a little better.

I remember when I first got my iPhone 5 it had horrible battery life. I brought it back after a month, got a new one and restored from the same back up as on the first iPhone. It got SIGNIFICANTLY better battery life. As in, it lasted nearly the whole day (with the same usage, might I add) while the first one lasted till maybe noon. It's not unheard for some iPhone's to have faulty batteries.

I don;t have one else would have shared the stats all I know is
The iPhone 5S has a 3.8V, 5.92Wh, 1,560mAh battery compared to the iPhone 5's 3.8V, 5.45Wh, 1,440mAh unit.

Maybe your phone is defective? My battery life is great.
