That's what I suspect. I'm going in for a Genius Bar appointment Saturday to hopefully get a new one.

My battery life was dismal and I took it into the Genius Bar. Apparently my phone thought it was a 4s, and apps were crashing and restarting in the background. I had to set up my phone as a new phone :(, and it's much better.

Did that this morning and it got even worse. I'm convinced that the battery is faulty.

Pretty much non stop use today.

I have to ask, & i expect some honesty here.... Those who are posting screenshots of battery USAGE of 6+ hours, what exactly are you using it for the MOST ? Please explain cuz i haven't got anything more than 4 hours of actual usage doing nothing more than Twitter, iMessage, the occasional email, Safari browsing, & a few phone calls.

I do get ****** reception at work for 9 hours/day, so that prob doesn't help. But i have EVERYTHING turned off in Privacy/Location Services/System Services, Background App Refresh is off, No Parallex wallpapers, Reduce Motion is on, Auto-Brightness On, & Fetching 2 Gmail accounts every hour. I may just have to run some cycles on it (100% > 0% > 100%). Although i have done a few already.
I didn't set up as a new iPhone cuz i really don't see a point in manually installing all apps & adjusting settings. I'll give it a few cycles, & if nothing changes i'll try the Genius bar

And that's why I always do a restore before seeing them... Or just lie and tell em you already did a restore and setup as new. I also make sure to tell them that I've done a DFU restore as this sends a message to them that I'm not just an average dumb user.

Good points. Thanks.

Good points. Thanks.

Just got mine replaced with no problem or questioning by the Genius, he was kick ass. We'll see how this one holds up. I'll try to kill it tonight and then charge it up to 100% battery so it's calibrated. Hopefully it does better than my first 5S.

Did he run any tests first ?

Great news. Thanks for the information. Will you post results. I am very interested.

Just the standard diagnostics test which of course said the battery was normal. He looked at my usage and it was clear that it was far below normal. He was very nice about it and actually said that some iPhone's just plain are having battery problems with iOS 7. Some get great battery while others don't.

No problem! Expect an update either late tomorrow night or Sunday morning.

Def keep us updated. I'm actually thinking about doing the same if it keeps up this weekend

Much. Better. I think my problem is the POS signal I get in my building at work. So far this weekend is much better.
Gonna run a few more charging cycles on it & will post if it gets better...

I have pretty much every setting turned on (no Bluetooth though). 4 email accounts - 2 fetch/IMAP @ 30 minutes, 1 push exchange, 1 push iCloud. Most of this usage was over the course of 2 work days. A few YouTube videos, lots of texting and Facebook.

fantastic. I have old discontinued internet radio app I use. it sucked battery down like nobody's business on the 5. Same on the 5S. but as long as I keep it plugged in well using that app. I can get through the day without even using my Mophie....much better than the 5.

Man my battery hasn't been the best. Averaging 5 hrs 30 mins usage. Just basic iMessage some Facebook, couple phone calls, email etc not much else.

I figure ill give it another week or so and see if it improves but is 5 hrs 30 mins normal? Seems a little on the low side to me.

went from an ATT iphone 5 to and ATT 5s and battery life is a little better but not by much- I would rather have a thicker iphone with more battery life than the current design- I'm guessing if they eventually make a larger screen iphone it will have more room for a bigger battery- let's hope so...

Damn i'm getting nowhere near what some of you are getting... :(

If you have every feature activated and your brightness above 50% and a bad cellular connection then your battery life will be much worse. Also depends on what you're doing on your phone. A lot of graphically intense games means a lot of battery drain.

Just got a replacement this is my first recharge hopefully it gets better.

I let mine go completely dead. Plugged it in, and it started up right away. When it booted back up, the battery % said 8%. I took it off the charge to see if it was accurate, and it died again within seconds. Plugged it back in, and it booted up to 8% again. Will this be corrected with a few charge/discharge cycles, or should I be concerned? Clearly my battery calibration is off by 8%.

Let it die completely and then let it recharge all the way to 100% without being unplugged.

First day of use after a recharge. Not very heavy usage and this is from a full restore. A little better than my first 5S but still not that great, gonna see how it does tomorrow and if it's not that much better I'm gonna ask for a replacement (I'd normally give it more time before I make an assessment on battery life but I'm in college and am home only for this weekend, so I want to get this figured out before I go back). What do you guys think?

Edit: Sorry for the double post. Also, it says "iPhone has been plugged in blah blah" because I had to plug it in for about 2 minutes to sync my music from my Mac onto my iPhone, but it was literally only two minutes so I doubt it had any noticeable impact on battery stats.

Turn things off that run in the background. Also generally speaking, low reception can take a toll on your battery life.

Anyways this may help you out: http://snapguide.com/guides/save-battery-life-iphone-w-ios-7-complete-guide/

Post back your battery life after some tweaking. Hope this helps though.

You probably haven't seen my other posts, but I've done everything in the book. Went two days with bluetooth disabled, location services off for nearly all of my apps, background refresh disabled, parallax disabled, no moving wallpapers, a bunch of location/system services disabled, etc. None of these had an affect on my battery life, so I just ended up turning them most of them back on since they were actually beneficial to me. This is also from a fresh restore, not from a backup.

I do have to say, however, that the new phone is performing better than the first one I had, but it's still not up to par with what 90% of other users seem to be getting. I'll put it through it's paces again tomorrow, but if it doesn't do too well I'm going back to the Apple Store. I'm only back from college this weekend so I need this issue to be solved ASAP.

Ah I see. Looks like you tried out every single thing possible. I wouldn't fair well with battery like that either. Hopefully you get that fixed soon. Must be a pain to deal with. Why can't these gadgets (esp something that cost nearly a grand) come with perfection right? Hopefully I won't have to deal with that once mine comes in. Best of luck.
