I used my iPhone 5s at work from full charge to about 28% on AT&T LTE, then headed home at 7pm and used my phone on wifi for a while and headed to bed. Bluetooth on, Wifi on, automatic updates, background refresh and auto brightness on. Did lots of web surfing, looked at a few videos and photos. Got my phone on launch date, ran the phone til it turned off, fully recharged to 100% then left it on for additional 2 hours to trickle charge and top it off. Did that twice so far. This will be the third time. Then I'll charge it whenever for the most part. I get the new iPhone every year.

Did u restore from backup or setup as a new iPhone ?

So is there an improvement over the normal 5? Really annoying having to carry my charger around with me because my 5 only lasts two hours. Genius said it was because I was using spotify a lot, even if the tracks are uploaded it's still using loads of battery.

There's definitely an improvement from the battery. You need to know what to keep on / off, like location services and stuff like that. I initially thought the battery was about the same as iPhone 5, however, I was able to go a whole weekend without charging, and finally made it to 0% last night. I know that the battery calibration needs work though, because sometimes I would get stuck on percentages for ages. I was on 1% for almost 30 minutes.

Contrary to my previous post after only 24hrs with phone and pathetic battery life.... Once fully restored, backed up on iCloud and second full charge to 100%, the current status since last full charge is:

Usage: 3 hours 54 mins (approx 4 hours)
Standby: 17 hours 41 mins

Battery remaining: 50%.

So things improving with every full charge. :)

People obsess over battery life, but never take into consideration that it's a new device! You'll use it more, and especially if you're religiously looking at the battery stats you're probably looking at your lockscreen quite a bit. Enjoy the phone, give it some time.

The great majority of users are seeing fantastic battery life from their 5S's, but there seems to be a select few that aren't doing to well.

So far, my second 5S doesn't seem to be doing much better than my first. It gets maybe an extra half hour of use but it's still unacceptable. I barely used it at all yesterday and it was dead by the time I went to bed. I have confirmed my theory that it's a device issue and not software/ usage based. With the exact same usage as my first 5S, my second consistently gets 30-45 minutes a week. I'll be going back to the Apple Store to get another one either today or tomorrow and will continue to post in this thread if I notice any changes.

Battery life has significantly improved for me. A typical 8 hour work day would bring the iPhone to about 25% life left ( just enough to make it to the end of the day - midnight to my charger ).

Current iPhone 5S makes it to midnight with 50% charge still left.

battery is way better than the iphone 5, on the iphone 5 after a days of work 10 hours (7AM to 5PM) if has about 40% left and the 5S have about 60% left

This replacement gets slightly better battery life than my original 5S but it's still horrible in comparison to others. What is considerably better, however, is the standby time. It does much better than my first 5S did in that regard.

It varies. On a day when I was mostly outside with good reception, it lasted 11 hours of standby with 4 hours of usage. However on a working day when I constantly used apps and browsed websites in the subway, half of the battery can be consumed in 2.5 hours.

Wow, very similar usage as mine. I'm bringing mine to the apple store as well, this is unacceptable.

I'm wondering how many more iPhones i have to go threw to get a good one apple said that the battery shows working properly but obviously its not if I'm only getting 5hrs usage and barely using it had to turn off mostly everything

That's great news!
Which restore function did you use?

I'm quite pleased with my 5s' battery life. I restored my phone from a backup that contains data from every iPhone released from 3GS on, two of which were jailbroken. Never had ill effect on battery life.

So far, pretty damn good.

Although I did come from a Samsung Galaxy SIII which was horrendous with battery life.

Not sure if it's because I'm just not on the phone as much as I was on the SIII, but right now it's been lasting longer.

On my 5, I got 5 hours of usage with the 5S (yesterday being my first 100%-1% drain) I got about 7 hours of usage! I do not use wifi much, this is mostly on LTE so I am quite happy.

I kept everything the same (as I restored from icloud) so I just hope this can continue :)

Here is mine now, this is while I only use it to play injustice game and also watch YouTube videos by the way my brightness is on 100%

My battery life on the 5S feels the same as my 5 if not a tad bit worse. Still no where near as bad as when I has the gs4

Comparing usage statistics is pretty much pointless guys because the biggest drain on any phone is the screen which the "usage" statistic does not show how long has been on.

If the person hasn't used screen off activities that day (such as music, phone calls, etc) then the "usage" statistic will give you an very close approximate of how long the screen has been on.

If the person has used screen off activities that day (such as music, phone calls, etc) then they just need to keep track of how long they used them for and subtract that from the "usage" statistic to figure out screen on time.

Battery life seems better today was going to exchange it going to see how the next charge cycle results be.
