My card is gonna arrive tomorrow. Here's my results for the class 10.

I'm worried that my Lexar UHS-II 1800x isn't going to be fully utilized in the HTC 10. I'm thinking it only supports up to UHS-1 Class U3.

What do you guys think?

What app do you use to check and i'll post mine ...

Nevermind found it. Mine has a read of 85.51MB/s and a write of 38.46MB/s.

Mine is a SanDisk Extreme Pro 32gb

Am I seeing that card benching at 90mb/s online? If I'm looking at the right one Amazon reviews are getting 90 write.

That would mean the bus in the 10 is limiting it down to ~38?

38mb/s write on a SD is still mighty good, believe that is faster than Nexus 6p nand :p

HTC showing amazing RAM management vs another similar spec'd phone on the market. Watch the second lap, every app is already loaded:

I used to contend that these test about as useful as geek bench in determining the real life usage of the phone. But I'll ask; was I wrong?

The worst week I had with the s7 edge, and marks when I started looking at other options, was the beginning of this month in Seattle. The s7 edge could handle running GPS navigation (walking, Google maps beta feature), a podcast, and random texting, help searched, etc. It got horribly laggy and caused me to get lost once or twice. Restarting the phone didn't usually help. It needed some time to cool down I guess.

Removing the recent install of swift key seemed to help, but I did that as I was getting a ride to the airport, so it's hard to judge.

So again, was I/am I wrong? Does Samsung still have enough bloat combined with aggressive multi tasking, that the above is a consequence of it?

The above is anecdotal. It's likely the phone needed a factory reset, which is a common thing in my experience with Samsung devices (though it shouldn't be). I don't know why this is, but in contrast past iPhones, Nexus, and htc (I'm referring to the m7) devices haven't needed that.

Anyway just a thought.

As a side note, here is some honest observations:

I personally love the htc so far, and was getting frustrated with my snap 820 s7 edge. So that's my disclaimer.

The htc is faster in all aspects. If there is a slower area, it might be game load times (I rarely play games, rarely). The s7 should be faster, based on its nand reads (the htc is faster in writes, or something, can't remember). This might be me seeing something that isn't there...but I don't care either way. I use the boost app to limit performance in games in favor of battery. So for 99 percent of my uses, the htc is faster.

Battery is better on the htc. The phone sleeps better, and the battery drains slower in active use. I do a lot of streaming music/podcast.

The software is great. It's close to stock Android and I love it. I haven't switched launchers yet. I have experimented, but the htc launcher feels faster than other options. I have tried to control for animation speeds. I honestly think htc has given the launcher priority in the ram, as exiting apps and rendering the home screen is where the htc launcher seems superior, the most often.

The sound via headphones is great, even though I use mainly Bluetooth. I notice the difference.

The external speaker sounds good, but isn't as loud as I'd like. The s7 might be louder, even if it sound crappy.

I love the lack of bloat, and I love that I don't get a volume warning everytime I listen to music.

The display is great by itself and I'm perfectly happy with it, but the s7 is better. This can be said compared to any phone.

The htc camera is great, has a few quirks, and we will see if it gets even better with updates. The s7 camera is faster, focuses quicker, and does better in really low light situations...even if there is a yellow tinge to the photos taken in low light. Overall the s7 camera is still the best on the market, IMO, but the difference isn't big enough to bother me.

I can't put the htc in a glass of water as a party trick, like I can with the s7.

If I bust my htc, they will send me a new one. That's a nice security, and it's free of charge.

These are my thoughts so far. Please note both phones have the snap 820. From my understanding, the exynos see since improvement in the battery and performance area.

It does seem that the RAM management is not optimized on the SD variant for Samsung's latest flagships. These are two similar spec'd phones with different software. Perhaps this is improved with a future update.

This is the one of the few "speed tests" I have seen where the difference in software optimization is very apparent and has real usage impacts to consider. Even with a slower NAND, the HTC can give a better overall experience.

Thanks for your other observations. My phone is on the truck for delivery right now. Looking forward to trying it out!

So I just confirmed the S7 Edge camera lens has a coating on it that makes fingerprints less of an issue. I used my finger to touch their lens and then my HTC 10 then back again and no visible print on the HTC 10 but very visible on mine. Even after I wiped my lens off it allowed a new print.

So the HTC camera has no coating on it.

In addition to that, is this normal battery drain?

I wonder why T-Mobile took so long to release the device. I wish it launched today instead of tomorrow as I have the day off, but whatcha gonna do?

Really? I can get 6 hours SOT on my S7 edge....Then the Exynos version can get 7 to 8 hours SOT.

I could never get close to that. I do stream a lot of music, but none the less. In seattle, I would have to charge it a few times a day.

Six hours?!?! No way. I have a hard time believing that. I will give you the benefit of the doubt though. That's crazy.
I get close to 6 hours on my S7 Edge Exynos and that's with Android System keeping my phone awake for 8 or 9 hours a day. Unfortunately the latest update for Canadian S7's is bugged and there's nothing else that can be done to reduce android system besides a software update.

I'm still looking at the HTC one but I don't think I'll make the jump, it's the same price as the S7E in Canada. The price is making it hard to justify and I'm not convinced about battery life on the One either.

I get around 5 hrs SOT on my exynos S7e normally. I've managed to get just over 6 hours on a couple of occasions, but I have never got well above that myself.

Problem is we will never know of those with longer battery are using power saving modes or have screen brightness set on manual and turned down, or if they have a sim in the device ... So many variables. No matter what I do I never get close to those that post great battery results regardless :(

I have always gotten way longer and better battery life than the majority, BUT...the major difference being all my phones were rooted and ROM'd running custom kernels specifically designed for better battery life. With a good ROM + kernel combination, you can get an increase of 1/3rd better battery life over stock. And with normal use still, no battery saving stuff enabled, or gimping the phone features.

Now if people are saying they are getting these amazing battery results on just the stock phone, I have no idea how's that possible ?

I routinely get 5 to 6 hours SOT on my S7 edge with the sim in and a mix of wifi and LTE. I always have my display set to about 30% manually and I never use power saving. There have been a lot of people getting the same as me with the S7 edge. A lot of it has to do with LTE signal strength too. Some remote areas have a weaker signal so it consumes more battery over LTE. Then if your in the sun a lot with the display set to auto it will boost it up to full brightness.

I'm not doing anything special with mine, it's complete stock and I routinely get 5-6hrs. If I push it I can't get a little over 6hrs, but 5.5hrs is average. The S7 Edge is just the best battery performer on the Android side (other than some niche devices with HUGE batteries).

Why is this a discussion here??? The S7Edge has about a 20% bigger battery than the HTC 10 and gets about 20% better battery life? Why is this amazing?
[doublepost=1463506882][/doublepost]First impressions.... this is everything I wanted my Nexus 6p to be! The size is perfect and it just feels so much better in the hand. Build quality is top notch. It charged from 60% to 100% so quick, while updating and restoring apps. Love the textured power button. Screen seems slightly pinkish at first use out of the box, but xda posts show that might be glue curing and will improve. It is a very nice LCD screen though. I am not bothered by it at all coming directly from AMOLED.

Going to try everything stock before installing GNL. Haven't used HTC in a long time, so want to see what Sense brings to the user experience these days.

Because some posted their experiences with the S7 edge and their battery life being poor. Myself and others have had a different experience. It was only brought up here because others brought it up....don't be so defensive. Go back and read the posts again......

Who is defensive the way you guys jumped on that?? Once again, pot-kettle man. He didn't have a great experience with the battery, all good.

Nope. And again, since this is the HTC 10 thread, seems relevant to compare them, and they seem about the same.

The sound on the HTC 10 is amazing through wired headphones! Can't tell a difference through BT headphones. I wonder why HTC still has the headphone jack on the bottom?
EDIT: sorry meant the top :)
