Location set to battery saver mode and Google Location History (always the biggest killer and cause of wakelocks) turned off.
Thank you for the information.

Do you notice a lose in Google now functionality?

I like how much variations of light the HTC 10 camera captures in daylight.

So I noticed something with the HTC camera that I never noticed on other phones (or other cameras aren't as susceptible to) is how much lens oils and debris can affect the image.

So i never worried about the lens clarity on the S7 or iPhone, but I'm noticing that the image can become worse with a fingerprint or finger oils on the lens, especially when light sources are in the shot.

Haven't noticed it myself. Tbh I always avoid touching any of my camera lenses so I've never come across this. It's worth knowing it's something to keep an eye on though.

I typically do too but for some reason my finger seems to meet the camera quite often on this phone lol.

Well I can get it with a jump on Wednesday, decisions decisions as the Note 5 would be sent packaging.

The audio with the HTC Pro Studio earphones has better sound quality listening with the 10 than with the Note 5. I matched the volume as best as I could at a vzn store. Nice job, HTC.

You guys all know of I'm a Samsung fan....love their phones. In your case...personally I would choose the 10 over the N5. Unless you use the spen allot. The screen is smaller but it makes up for it in performance. It comes down to personal preference.
Battery life might be a concern. N5 I was getting 6 hours SOT easily. The 10 gets 4.5 SOT for me so far. But also has SD card too

Little over a week into my HTC 10, got it when my S7e went in to repairs for a row of dead pixels on the screen. The Samsung is back home now, but I'm still using the 10. So far this feels like a keeper, sure the battery life isn't as good but it gets me through the day, and that's all I care about.

I will more than likely do it and if I don't care for it enough well the Note 6 would be next, Mr. Samsung. :)

Here's my discovery on fingerprints and smudges on the camera lens.

See the light flare on the image with the fingerprints and oils. This is just with a little bit. I've gotten it worse before. Below is the same (or similar) image with the camera lens progressively getting cleaner.

*Edit* had to retake images for work sensitive info.

I think allot of that is the lens flare from the HTC 10 camera? I am getting a lot of lens flare from the 10 as well.

Yeah I don't know if software can fix it. I had some coworkers attempt the same type of scenario with their phones and though it's not really all to scientific and had plenty of variables, for the most part, their cameras hid the lens flare better, but not completely, it still existed on the following phones; Note 4, Galaxy S7 Edge, and iPhone 6. Although the Note 4 did have trouble focusing. I think with the iPhone's camera placement, it's kind of out of the way and perhaps Samsung had some things in place since the heart rate sensor is right there and people are bound to touch it.

Or

I just never noticed it and I'm experiencing one of those phenomenons where, "I can't unsee it" and it's like all I notice now so it's more prevalent in my mind now vs what I remembered. Either way I still think the HTC 10 camera is good, it needs some work though, but it's far from bad.

So is the camera lens missing some oleophobic coating or something? Strange you don't hear about fingerprint smudges much on other phones.

In your last picture, it seems just a bit overexposed, but that could be manually reduced I assume.

It's probably a combination of factors. There is an oleophobic coating as the fingerprints do clear off without much effort to wipe off, but its something definitely to be aware of. Software wise. there is clearly an issue with auto mode sometimes choosing the wrong ISO for the particular circumstance - which can lead to blurry and over exposed highlights as seen in those images. The middle image is clearly the better shot, though still the wrong iso / exposure for it.

The lens flare is not consistent for me though....Sometimes I get lens flare other times I don't

First one is the HTC 10

That workstation is depressing. ;)
it is huh. That is the guy that sit across from me. His contract is up at the end of the month so he is slowing clearing out his stuff. He works on the mainframe and they are down sizing his dept.

I was hoping you didn't have to suffer in that spot everyday lol

That makes sense.

Thanks for the analysis. I do feel like the HTC shots are getting fuller colors.... probably due to this overexposure.

No colour saturation is likely due software and the micron size rather than the over exposure.

Thankfully it doesn't affect me too much these issues as I'm always outdoors generally when shooting photos.

Outdoor shots are from my own perspective very accurate colour wise and even in shots if my white dog it has managed to not over expose too much which is often the case when taking photos of him on whatever camera I use including DSLR.
