It's a shame because the HTC 10 is a great device. Camera is now excellent, audio is great and speed and performance is top notch and yet I'm the only one I know who has one. Almost every other phone I see here is either an iPhone or a Samsung device.

agreed....i think HTC's marketing dept should be fired. They need to portray a better brand image.

Well whoever at HTC decided to go with carrier exclusives when those carriers are not even promoting the device should definitely be fired. Crazy decisions like that are equally to blame for its poor sales performance. Madness altogether.

I picked up the HTC 10 on release day too. Its a great phone - I have no real complaints against it but its not really a "wow" phone like the Note 5 was. I expected more from the camera and I really wish the volume rocker was on the other side so that the power button wasn't halfway down the side, but otherwise its a great device. Also - the capacitative home button is great - I didn't think it would be such a big deal but going back to pressing buttons feels so "pedestrian". All phone should have capacitative home buttons.

I kinda miss my Note 5 every time I use HTC 10 though. I think the Note 5 was the best device I've owned so far (other than the lack of capacitative home button).

Cool, but don't know how much this'll help them at this stage. With the note 7 for power users, with the s7 discounts, Nexus discounts, the op3 value, and of course the upcoming iPhones and Nexus devices, not sure they can expect much.

HTC shaves $100 off the HTC 10, offers new Red and Gold colors

I love my HTC 10, but the horse has already bolted especially if carriers have silently dropped it.

I got an HTC 10 three days ago. This is the best phone I ever had. The build quality, the Sense UI and the BoomSound speakers are amazing. I had a Nexus 6P before, a great phone too.
The problem with HTC is that the differences between flagships are really subtle. If I didn't have the HTC 10, I would also be very happy with my Nexus 6P or a different flagship. The main differentiator of the HTC 10 simply does not really exist. It is a device that does everything very well, if not excellent.
For me, the HTC 10 has the best design, the best sound and the best UI of any other phone out there. The market is saturated and people only know about Samsung and Apple. Everybody else has a big problem, unless they start offering discounts.
Everybody says that HTC should offer the 10 at a lower price point. I do not think they can do that without sacrificing in features or build quality.

Yeah they are just in a catch 22 situation. I do genuinely love my 10 too. Camera is very good now, memory management is fantastic, performance is great (never misses a beat), battery life is 5 hours SOT for me routinely, fingerprint scanner has been very solid and love that it's not a clicky button. Charging times are insanely fast on it. Audio through hi-def headphones is amazing.

My only criticism would be screen brightness is not great outdoors.

But despite how good it is at the things it does, it does kind of look like a generic slab and pretty forgettable.

I do not think that it looks generic. It just works and maybe that is why some people might find it boring..

I would buy a 5.5 or 5.7 model HTC 10....just make it bigger and I'm a customer.

But I wonder about dwindling sales leading to slower and slower updates too @Sensamic

Well HTC has you in mind then :) The HTC Nexus marlin will be 5.5" and is said to be a mix of HTC 10 design + Nexus style, similar build quality to the 10. It will be released next month.

It it is the same materials then I am in...if it is plastic i might pass. I have seen some renders and they don't get my juices going. But I would love to have a HTC 10 exactly as is except for 5.5 or 5.7 display size.

Only problem is, a HTC 5,5" device will probably be bigger than let's say the Note 5 or 7...

This is a big point.

For me, the fact that Samsung's edge technology can give me a 5.5" screen in such an ergonomic and small footprint is the x-factor that puts them in front of every competitor. At this point in time, you can't find this edge (pun intended) anywhere else. As you've mentioned, look at the Note 7. A 5.7" screen in an even more refined body than the s7 edge.

I'm a "small" phone lover. Always preferred the mid-size varieties. Only with Samsung can I get away with a phablet.

Just got that same update this morning.
I was starting to think they forgot about me (seems like everyone got the update before the Taiwan phones).

Yeah but I think we have a newer version (at least digit wise ours is higher) ... Its been suggested the next round of updates will actually be the nougat update. Hopefully anyway.

We're one of the first to actually get the August security update, the European update has the July patch I believe.

I'm really wondering how long will it take for HTC to release a N update. Not that I have any problems with the phone, this thing is a beast and my opinion on HTC 10 still hasn't changed a bit. Best android phone of 2016 for me personally.

But the sales aren't going so well, now I'm wandering how motivated will HTC be to update this thing :)

Well with the two Nexus devices we can only assume their commitment to Google is strong, so hopefully that strong connection will see them push out N sooner rather than later.

I'm hopeful for that, too. I'm actually looking at buying one right now to make my way back to Android, then possibly move to the next Nexus devices when they are released. I like my iPhone a great deal, but it bores me to no end. And this seems to be about the closest performance-wise that I can get to iPhone from the Android world right now.
