I just picked one up on the sale today. With the extra accessories for free. I think it's a solid deal at $599. OP3 is a good option for $200 less, but it still has a decent set of issues and I just don't trust OP. I'm sure I'll jump on the new Nexus, but this should last me for a few months at least. It'll go nice with my Huwaei watch that I just picked up on Prime Day.

How did you get the accessories? Is that part of the deal or did you find something on your own that wouldn't apply for a potential buyer?

They give you a $100 credit for accessories. Once you get the phone, you can use it, as far as I can tell. I didn't get any extra accessories yet. But I will.

So I ordered the HTC 10 with the intent to return the S7 Edge US unlocked version. I grew fond of the S7E and cancelled my HTC order.... or so I thought. HTC sent me an email saying they shipped it and they couldn't stop it.

A large part of me is saying return the S7E since it was $832 with tax, but then the other part of me is like keep it and decline the delivery of the HTC 10.

I'm struggling and thought I'd reach out to you guys. What would you do in this situation?

Why not receive the HTC 10 and try it during your return window and see which one you like the best?

Yeah you're behind. The unlocked version is 1.80.617.1, but I literally just got the phone today, so I'm unsure what it has in that build.
My Taiwan unit is 1.80.709.1

Apparently an update rolling out in EU current restores the information section in software that tells you what security patch you are running.

Oh nice wonder when the states with get that update.

Anyone getting WiFi "Disabled" errors? My WiFI keeps going disabled for random reasons. Not sure why?

Wifi is not great in this phone compared to other devices around it on the same router. I have repeaters and really good coverage in my house, but the HTC 10 is always a couple bars less. Speeds seem about the same, but I can see how it would drop in weaker coverage where other phones don't.

Big thread on XDA on this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/wifi-issues-htc-10-weak-signal-fail-t3368165

Might try some tips in there like forcing 2.4 only. The last firmware made it a bit better, but overall definitely a weak point.

Not had that myself but have read some folks had issues.

I have an AirPort Extreme and have no issues with it connecting.

Maybe it's my Netgear Nighthawk 3200. But none of my other items have this problem so it makes me think it's the HTC. It's very random. Hopefully a patch will fix soon.

I must say the memory management which was always good on the HTC 10, has only got better.

I have currently 18 apps open and fully loaded in the background and can swap between them without any refreshing. When i check memory in settings it tells me i still have 1.8gb free ....

Unbelievable the optimisation HTC do in this regard despite the skin which has a load of extras and customisation options.

It proves that Android OEM skins don't have to be memory resource hogs - Samsung i am looking at you, my HTC 10 with 18 apps open is using similar memory than my Samsung's S7e without ANY additional apps open, just a fresh boot .... That's a dramatic difference.

So after spending some time reading the XDA forums, it seems my problem isn't really there. Mine just "disables" for no apparent reason randomly. They seem to be having reception issues or quality of the WiFi issues. Mine seems to work all around my house and even on the at the neighbors house with some degradation, but as expected. Doesn't seem too abnormal in the quality of service department.

Anyway I thought I'd give the ol' trial and error and the setting "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" I changed to "Only when Plugged In" and it seems to be a nice work around. I haven't had any issues yet. I am thinking it's because it turns off the WiFi and re-authenticates when it wakes from sleep. Essentially doing what I do manually just automatically when the error occurs.

Not perfect, but good enough until the patches roll in.

I could not figure out how to fix this. Was at a wedding last night and I could not get a good shot no matter how many wipes of the lens I did. This shot was if the DJ as the wedding ended. I'm sure he was weirded out by a random fellow just snapping photos of him but it was the lights I cared about more than him lol.

Any thoughts in how to prevent this?

I am wondering if they are using different lens / sensors from different manufacturers. I've seen people have issues with lens flare and yet I've yet to experience it on mine and others are like me, so I wonder if there is hardware difference between them.

Could be, if I'm not mistaken you're in Europe correct? Have you noticed other Europeans having this issue? Thought I'm having is this could be a US issue. Or just bad luck on my part.

Yeah but my device is an unbranded/unlocked taiwanese unit. I wonder if there is an app we can download that will tell us the camera hardware ? Would definitely be interesting to see if there was some correlation.

Interesting for sure. I'm gonna look into it to see if there is an app. I know there was an app for the iPhone to see what CPU was in it. Wonder if they make an Android version.

Mines the Unlocked US variant.

I've tried CPU Z and Droid Info. They don't reveal actual manufacturer / part info. I'll keep looking too :)

Why've you got the Taiwan unit?
