Broke my iPhone 6S Plus today on my jog :( it was quite the comedy sketch and quite the feat to juggle it for what seemed like 50 ft, but was probably more like 5 or 10 ft.

So I'm thinking about ordering a HTC 10 Carbon today NDA or running to Best Buy and getting an S7 Edge, which do you recommend?

This is my first dropped phone in like 7 years. This is my first cracked phone ever. Metal is fine from the case but the screen isn't.

Honestly, Either phone is very good, what you will prefer is subjective and can only be ascertained by yourself. Check both put in person a d pick whichever you think is better or you like more than the other.

For me I like them both just struggling to decide. HTC seems nice but the SD card situation disappoints. I wish I can just move the data files to SD instead of the entire app in adoptable storage.

Also not sure if the lens flare is still a thing with HTC but that was a bummer at night. But I'm a huge fan of the update promise and lightness of the software.

It's a tough call for me. Pros and Cons on both. Updates though are a big one for me though.

I have htc 10, and honestly, best android phone till date. 0 lags, 0 software issues. And that's important, since s7 and htc10 both are hardware beasts. I simply find htc 10 touch working far better then samsung. No ghost touches here :D

Yeah for me its the ghost touches (or lack of) that make the 10 better for me or at least less frustrating.

If i was going to buy a new Samsung device I would in future opt for non edge models. I hope they remain options.

It does not seem to matter what HTC does, it is not like field of dreams whereby if you build it they will come.

Some of the earlier ones they released did not warrant the bucks I admit even at a price reduction but the HTC 10 bought directly does regardless and it still did not sell.

Not going to help them in any significant way sadly. Not worth prime day sales and the op3 still out there.

Should've been $599 default.

Yeah, but wouldn't have changed anything. Because it was basically $599 for the first couple of months.

Also note this sale also includes $100 in accessory credit.

But then no payment system; Android Pay right?

I have Android Pay and systemless root. Depends on your comfort level if you want to go for it or not. And Google can always patch it.

Personally I just block ads on my router. Saves a lot of headache configuring all 100 devices I have around here. I see ads when I am out, but most of my phone web browsing usage is at home these days. (Sorry MRs. You'd be making at least a few dollars off me lately)

It would've been $499 with the early promo discount. Would it have changed their fortune? Maybe slightly. Regardless, $699 was the wrong price point. They aren't Apple or Samsung to get away with such prices.

And with the current deal, it would have been $499 again. Better chance against the OP3 and 6P deal than at its current discount of $599.

They should not have gone into carrier exclusive contracts especially given carriers are doing nothing to drive sales of the device. It was a silly move.

It's not available here unlocked without importing it, yet it is available on an exclusive carrier who is not the biggest carrier. Essentially if you are on one of the 4 other carrier networks available here, you are out of luck.

I had to import my unlocked model.

Well personally I think it is much better than the 6P from a hardware perspective. Easily worth $100 more.

It would be a steal at $499 in that it would literally be stealing as it would be putting HTC in the red on every sale. Not sure why they would do that.

I can't compare the OP3 because I don't have it, but HTC can't hang with OP. That is just the truth. They are not as lean, they could never produce the same phone for the same price. Too big, too much overhead.

Makes me wonder if they kind of knew it wasn't gonna sell and they're putting all their eggs in the Nexus basket. I still think they should have done a promo, " Buy the HTC 10 and get $200 off Vive" or buy a Vive and get $100-$200 off HTC 10"

They'd move more I'd like to assume.

I'm not able to say whether a $599 default price point would have made a difference or not, but it's safe to say $699 was wrong.

I'm sure the HTC 10 is a very good phone. As I've said before, a great counter option to s7.

Let's play a little game. Let's say the S7, S7 Edge, and HTC 10 came out today. The only difference is the S7/E stayed the same price [$669 & $769 respectively] and HTC was $599, would you be all about the S7 knowing what it is today, or would you think HTC would be a better buy at $599 knowing what it is today?

Reason why I ask is because I also think the timing of the HTCs launch as well as the price played a part.

There were more factors than price.

HTC doesn't have marketing muscle that Samsung do. Indeed I can barely remember an HTC 10 advert and yet still regularly see S7/e ads.

Likewise the S6/S6edge/Note5/Edge+ proceeding the S7/e had already had commercial success and won plaudits for Samsung finally embracing build quality materials ... HTC on the other hand were on the backpedal after the commercially disastrous and poorly recieved M9.

So if HTC & Samsung released their devices today, even with a $100-200 price difference, the S7 & S7E would still very much outsell the HTC 10.

Indeed launching both devices together could have potentially reduced it's impact simply because as the M9 & S6/E launch proved, the media only has time to swoon and gloat about 1 set of launched devices, the other competing invariably gets buried ...

However ... Had HTC priced the HTC 10 $100 less and actually got it on all carriers and more easily available unlocked in all countries, then it would undoubtedly have sold better than it has currently, even if not matching the S7.

Its a shame sales wise for HTC, it's a great device. I am very happy with mine.

I suspect I would have been happy with it, too.

Side note: I think it's a shame the Nexus 2016 renders aren't showing something resembling a HTC 10 Nexus.
