the OS update is quick yes on this model but in general I hear the brand is slow at updating but as the mate 9 was a flagship model guess more support for it.

The updates are a bit slow, oreo due next month on the mate 9 i read.

EMUI is much better in my opinion over touchwiz.
I'm a big samsung fan and most my phones been samsung, but after got to the mate 9 and it's EMUI, it's gonna take a bit to get me back to samsung.

In my opinion samsung, like apple has become a "status symbol" for some people, not everyone but some.

I have an ipad pro and ipod touch and have had an iphone 6s+ before you say i'm anti apple ios.
I honestly rate that Huawei is the next big OEM, if there is AN OEM that has the greatest chance of dethroning Samsung, it's Huawei.

May just get my hands on one of these beasts alongside my Note8

I really want to give that 4000mAh battery a go, I have heard nothing but good things about the Mate7, Mate8 and Mate9.

Picked up my review unit. Will be giving my thoughts on this beauty for the next 2 months.

Mine is the Mate10 Pro 128GB with 6GB RAM.

Any questions please ask away.

I'll be putting together a series of YouTube videos shot with my Note8, as well as a comparison of Mate10 Pro to Note8, which I'll shoot with my S7 Edge.

Really interested in seeing what you think of this compared to the Note. It's the one other phone I'm considering. Good price as well.

Awesome! Can you take a few pics and post them? Maybe do a side by side with your Note 8?
DxO labs rated the camera very highly.

Cool, I will do!
Bought one for delivery tomorrow. Last phone I'm trying this year!
Enjoy it!

Thoughts so far:

- UI is incredibly fast and smooth.
- The fingerprint scanner is ludicrously fast, faster than Note8
- The Display is great but coming from the WQHD+ of Note, I can tell that this is an inferior Display, I can see some pixelation as I use small Fonts and Small View Mode.
- This phone is incredibly well sized for a 6inch display, I know that is now a typical comment for all these 18:9 phones, but this phone still retains a sense of 16:9 even though it is 18:9, it's not tall at all.
- The Soft gel cover in the packaging is so far very good.
-Camera is fast, REALLY fast, I'll try get some shots tomorrow with it.

Here is a pic of the phone taken with my Note 8 for now, versus a pic I took of the Note 8 with the Mate10

Not finished setting it all up yet, so only quick first impressions. I'm making comparisons to the Note 8 and Pixel 2 XL as these are the devices I'm choosing between

Display is very nice and I doubt it will be a problem using in bright sunlight as it goes very bright.

Feels snappy and the fingerprint sensor is very quick, faster than the Pixel which is quick itself. I like the placement in the middle and while the lenses are close above, doesn't seem to be a problem. So maybe that's a sign the the Galaxy S9 will be much better with a vertical alignment of them.

I don't like how you can only fit 9 apps per folder page. Thought I left that behind when I sold my iPhone. I also don't like how you can't long press for app info and the settings on that app. You can add multiple apps to a folder at once which s good, the Note allows it but missed it on the Pixel.

Only taken a few quick snaps indoors. Rear camera is very good. Front camera is too smooth on faces for my liking (indoors at least, will try outdoors later). Much like the Samsung phones. And yes, I've turned the horrible beautify setting all the way down.

Feels good in the hand and nice to type on. I do think how good a phone feels has a lot to do with what case you have on. After using the Pixel with the fabric case, I've not enjoyed the Note anywhere near as much with a Spigen neo hybrid. The Huawei has the silicone one that comes with in the box. I probably wouldn't bother getting another unless I saw one I really liked.

Just took a pic of one of the dogs using each of the 3 phones, will upload shortly.

little bit more noise in the second photo.

more noticeable on the left box inner in that shot.

I see what you mean. The Note seems to have handled the poor lighting better.

Very nice.

How are you finding the phones battery life?

On its second full charge it has hit almost 8hours Screen On Time with over 18hours off charge.

It can only get better with each cycle over the next few days.

WRT your comment over how a phone feels with the cover, I 100% agree :)

I have a slim Incipio matte cover on my Note8 and using the the silicone case in the Mate10 Pro, both make these phones feel great in hand.

For me using the Note8 and Mate10 Pro side-by-side, I can honestly confirm with what I have been saying that the Note8 is made for people who will fully utilise what it offers and want the size, it's a very niche device, on the other hand the Mate10 Pro is a phone I can recommend to anyone who wants a top spec phone that can handle very heavy usage yet still be very compact and easy to handle for most.

I can't remember the exact battery status but seems very good so far (using a different phone just now).

The screen isn't a million miles away from the Note in a lot of things because I use the Note in basic mode. I use the Mate in the lesser colour mode (forget the exact name) because saturated just looked horrible. It's just my preference to have a more natural, not so in your face look.

I won't be keeping it, my choice still comes down to the Note or Pixel. Probably leaning towards the Note. But there's no doubt that for the price (as little as £650 here in the UK), the Mate should be a consideration for anyone. You get a lot for your money. It's great finally being away from iPhone, because Android offers so many great choices. More often than not for a lot less money as well.

With all that, I am moving my main SIM back into my Note8.

As great as the Huawei Mate10 Pro is, I just missed Samsung's more refined, matured UI and the Note8's more complete package. Also, the Mate10 Pro and Jaguar's infotainment system simply did not get along, but weirdly enough it worked with the Ranault's system, Media Nav Evolution, but the Renault is a 2016 Clio model, while the Jaguar is a 2015 XE R Sport model, so I think the Jaguar system may have an older BT version.

so want a 10 pro.

if my mate 9 anything to go by it be awesome in person!
Enjoy your Mate 9 man! Great phone.

I must say though, Huawei are getting better and better, the Mate11 will be insane if the Mate 9 and Mate10 Primate anything to go by..

Had I not been tainted by the Note series with its SPen, I'd be rocking a Huawei Mate10 Pro as my main phone right now.
