Are any of you using any kind of screen protector? If so what kind how well does the fp scanner work?

@Aneres11 With the Pixel like launcher you are using can you get the google feed by swiping to the right on the home screen? Does it look just like the pixel or is it more widget like?

Hey, so that's the only thing the Lawn chair and Lean launcher is missing. I'm using Lean and there used to be an option to get the Google launcher (on both) but it has been removed. Apparently you can download some weird APK to get it but I did that and it didn't work either.

However there is another launcher (rootless pixel launcher) on the play store, which DOES give you the Google feed by swiping right. There are not as many home screen options on this one (as it's exactly like the Pixel) so icons can only be one size, bit it's closest to Pixel ive seen and gives you that Google feed too.
[doublepost=1555148371][/doublepost]Here's some pics of the rootless pixel launcher if it helps .

This phone looks even better than s10, amazing phone. Seriously didn't expect Huawei to grow this much and this fast.
This is oart of the reason some cannot stand the company, but what people do not realise is that Huawei has been at this for a long time, as someone who lives on the African continent, I saw Huawei coming from a while away, they began becoming popular from low end value for money smartphones along with Mobile 3G modems, then they dropped the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 in 2014, that phone was the first big clue that they were going for the top, but most people only began paying attention when they dropped the Mate 9 series.

But if you have a look at China in general, they seem to be gunning to becoming the new Japan, a lot of Chinese companies like Huawei, Xiaomi, Foxconn, Haval etc... Are focusing heavily on R&D spend and building quality products.

I give it another 5-10 years for the whole stigma around China to be falling away rapidly.

Does the value of these phones plummet like galaxy phones do after 6 months?

Yes, yes they do.

There is only 1 manufacturer who makes iOS phones, Apple, while there are loads of OEMs making Androids, the competition in Android and the constant moving forward of technology in Android means last year's models tend to be outdated pretty soon, so don't expect any Android OEM to have Apple-like price retention, unless it's some luxury brand like Vertu.

If Price retention is major part of your phone buying decision, rather avoid Android.

Surely you can't think the P30 Pro has a better screen than the S10? It's not bad but it's definitely not on the level of the S10.

Honestly I can't discern between which is better. Sure, if you put both side by side and put the same picture on the screen and said "pick one" I'd probably go for Samsung.
But I don't have both. And the P30 screen is great.

Also, Samsung has always been way off in its colour accuracy. Their ''vivd' mode is utterly awful (to my eyes) and the whole time I had the device I used it on 'natural' and even that wasn't quite right. Huawei has much more customisation for colour temperature which makes it a more versatile screen for me.

But I'm not denying Samsung screen is higher resolution. You'd need to have some eye sight to be able to tell the difference though.

I'd love to hear more. What do you enjoy more about the P30 Pro? And how do you find everyday photos in comparison on the two devices?

I prefer the not as dramatically curved screen. I don't get false touches with this phone. S10+ it was happening too frequently.

I prefer the gestures on Huawei. One UI is great, but Huaweis features are more iOS like, which I personally prefer.

I prefer the look of the device. The back of this Breathing Crystal makes the Prism White S10 look a bit basic.

Huaweis little touches. Like double tapping with a knuckle to screen shot. Drawing a line with a knuckle to split screen. It's a nicer user experience for me.

Screenshots that are taken are so much faster to edit and crop than what I had on the S10. Its just there immediately with no waiting which I got with the S10. That isn't a performance thing either, the S10 had no lag or anything, it's just the way screenshots behaved.

Photos, well it's hard to tell. For me, everyday photos there's not really much between them. Any phone will take a good 'everyday photo' I think. It's the instances where you need more. Like my recent zoo trip. The S10 wouldn't be able to produce shots like that, and that's more important to me.

I could go on, but that's kinda the long and short of it. I'm not slating the S10 either here. If someone said I had to go back to it tomorrow, I'd happily do that. I was very happy with it, I just knew that the P30 Pro would yield better camera results for those moments like the pics above, and that's what I'm after now it's possible to achieve that and not some gimick. The results really do speak for themselves.

Another battery life post ;)

I am still blown away with the incredible battery life.
2 full days of (heavy) usage is super easy to get without all the tweaking/tinkering with (battery) settings you usually have with Samsung phones.

And my friendship with Xi Jinping is getting closer by the day! :D:p

@Aneres11 I'm surprised, seeing as you came from an S10. First thing I noticed was how the text is nowhere near as sharp. Vivid on any phone I’ve used looks ****. lol

Oh god you're like one of them in the iPhone thread about the XR. "Looked at one in the store and it was a blurry mess" haha. :p

But if screen is the most important thing to you then stick with the S10. :)

I’m simply saying when it comes to the screen, it’s very noticeably sharper and nicer to look at. Which I found surprising to read others find the P30 better in that department. Nothing more, nothing less.

I know, I was only kidding.

Also, in saying the screen is better I don't mean sharpness. It's meant towards what I've already explained - colour, saturation etc. The P30 is better in that regard. For pixel peepers, S10 all the way.

Yes all android phones get cheaper after they have been out for a while. However that doesn’t really take away from how good they are.

The note 9 is a few hundred pounds cheaper than when it first came out but it was a better phone than the Xs max when it came out and it still is even if it’s gone down in price.

Absolutely agree on the Display, the P30 Pro display is good but it's definitely not the best, it's definitely a stepback from the S10 display in crisp and smoothness.

In actual fact, I prefer my Mate 20 Pro display, at 3120x1440P the Mate 20 Pro display has all the great qualities of the P30 Pro display while being of higher resolution therefore being comparable to the S10 display.

I am actually typing this on my Mate 20 Pro while the P30 Pro charges I really miss how smooth this display is.

The Mate 30 Pro will be near perfect, bringing together the P30 Pro camera, with a High Resolution Display of the Mate 20 Pro and newer Kirin chip.

I was a little surprised how easily I noticed the difference because I always used the S10+ in the same FHD+ mode. Not a deal breaker though and no doubt helps give the P30 Pro it's outstanding battery life.

This video just highlights how the P30 Pro absolutely obliterates the competition in Battery Life

Absolutely agreed, with Samsungs I was very sensitive around Screen Brightness, I would usually run my Galaxy Note8 at 40-50% Brightness and get great battery life but anything above would equate to less battery, I would also sometimes use Power Saving if I was going out e.g. to a concert or all day festival like H2O/Tomorrowland type of festival. With the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro I can charge up to 70% and go to a concert or festival, take pictures +videos throughout and still be sure that I'll have more than enough battery to Uber me and my friends drunkasses back home and still have enough battery that even when I wake up and realise I forgot to charge my phone the next morning I can still browse the web and Uber Eats some food before plugging in ..... this has legit happened multiple times this year.

It's amazing how these phones just takeaway the battery anxiety with their Fast Charging and Long Lasting batteries.

Xi Jinping sent me a text the other day, said my videos are lit
