I always fall for the Samsung galaxy phones because they are amazing phones. But the battery life on my S9 was horrible, so i sold it and went back to iPhone XS. I might get the s10e or S10 IF the battery life is good. But i have to say my iPhone XS is a great phone and iOS is Great.
if you want good battery try the mate 20 pro. it will no doubt be way better than your current iphone x battery life.

What percentage of Americans do you think use a custom app to replace texting entirely?

Here's what we know:
32% don't off the bat (iMessage is the only supported texter on iPhone)
the other 68% are android users. Now, unless 50% of Android users use a custom act like Signal or Facebook messenger to complete replace texting, iMessage is the dominant messenger in North America.

It's also the only one that really sells a device. People stay on iPhone because they want to keep iMessage.

Make a counter argument. North American isn't China. We use Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, and Whatsapp here and there, but by and large we text using the default, and for one in three of us that's iMessage

Well if this statistic is correct, quite a substantial iPhone users in US are using other messengers.

So basically this says iMessage is the biggest messenger app after fb messenger. My original point has been made for me. iMessage has 30% of the smartphone market in the US and it is a leading cause of iOS lock in.

Maybe you’re just confused or you have some kind of SMS Stockholm syndrome?

The original post I was replying to said people basically shouldn’t want iMessage because I can use WhatsApp or another third party messenger. That does not fly. Outside of Facebook messenger which mines and sells data and has ads in the app, there is no close player to iMessage.

What kind of SOT were you getting with your S9?

I live in the US and I like WhatsApp about as well as iMessage, even on my iPhone? I know it’s not as pervasive but it’s a good messaging app.

Which is somewhat different than what was presented in some earlier posts, like the following one:

It's also somewhat different than saying that pretty much all Americans are using the default messaging app or that no one in North America joins another messaging service.

Yes, iMessage is fairly widespread and used by many, but it's not at the absolute extremes that were brought up generically applied to Americans or North Americans.

Is it just me? Went and saw the S10 at a store today - honestly i prefer the look of my iPhone XS. Never a fan of Samsung phones. For me it isn’t as good as people say in terms of looks. For software, I never thought of anything g great about the Samsung UI. pure android is a lot better IMO

What’s the opinion of others in this forum on the looks of S10?

the notch on the iphone is way more hideous than the tiny hole punch on the S10.

I think pure android is worse than UI. UI has got great reviews even from the worse of samsung haters

The fact you have never been a fan of Samsung phones is likely why your mind has convinced yourself it looks worse than the iPhone XS

I think my max looks outdated when looking at the S10 which is crazy really.

Sounds like One UI is good enough to justify the hardware, but still has some things it needs to iron out.

I have been using iPhones for many years, and also have experience with Android.

I sold my XS MAX last November and ordered a Pixel 3 XL on Thanksgiving and loved it! Then last week I traded it in and bought a Samsung S10+. Now this is truly an exceptional phone in my opinion.

I still like the iPhone, but it just got so stale and boring. Basically the same 'ole thing year after year. The S10+ is a nice change of pace.

My 2 cents for the texting conversation. Why every time people talk about other text apps or you read articles about them, no one ever talks about Viber? I use regular texting domestically, but to text my best friend out of the country we use Viber. I think it is much better than WhatsApp, and if you actually do a VOIP call on it Viber to Viber, the HD quality blows away WhatsApp. After he moved, we tried multiple chat programs, and Viber just seemed the best in many ways.

Viber doesn't get the credit it deserves in my opinion.

It kind of depends on a lot of things other than just call quality on your specific use case.

Yes but that doesn't change the fact that Chat app reviews almost never mention Viber in their comparisons.

I get it that a lot of people use WhatsAPP, so more people would be inclined to use it if all their friends are. But if you are someone trying to do a review and comparisons of those types of programs, when why do they almost always exclude Viber?

Personally, I like Viber much better than WhatsAPP, and also considering that Facebook owns WhatsAPP, that should be even more of a reason to try Viber.

well i can only speak for myself why i prefer WA over viber. with WA you can have more than 1 WA on you phone. and you don't have to use the WA from the playstore. you can use something like abo sadam whatsapp+2 as far as i know they don't use facebook servers.
