But surfing the web and forums on the Nexus 6 blows away the OnePlus One.
The only thing I hate is when I'm half awake in bed and want to check things on my phone, trying to use the Nexus 6 with one hand is such a pain.

----------

Tapatalk has been acting the maggot for a week or two. Seems to be on their side.
Taptalk has been awful on Android for a while, at least for me. It's laggy, and the interface is buggy and not very intuitive.

Also, here's my homescreen. I'm a minimalist as I'm sure you can tell. :p

Interesting stuff yesterday. I went back to stock non rooted Google image with a AT&T sim inside. While setting up my N6 and restoring apps I got all the AT&T bloat. So I did a factory reset and inserted a Verizon sim booted it up and went through setup and restoring all my apps from Google. No Verizon bloat at all! Not one single Verizon branded app was installed. My phone was originally bought straight from Google. So why would AT&T install bloat and not Verizon?

I'd love to see that Nexus 6 in a smaller size. That thing is just to freaking big for my small man hands.

I would get that in a heartbeat too! Say around 5.5 inch size in the current phone. Keep everything just make it 5.5 and a little more narrow like the OPO.

The OnePlus One has a very "Nexus" style and design to it. Shape wise it looked like a mix of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, but just larger. And running CM it looks and acts very much like stock Android, compared to like a Galaxy or HTC phone.

The OnePlus One came out approx. six months after the Nexus 5, and six months before the Nexus 6, and the screen size is smack dab in the middle between those two phones. And that's why last year I was calling the OPO the Nexus 5-1/2.

Give me an OPO 2 with an AMOLED screen and better camera, and keep everything else the same, and I'd be a happy camper.

I am with you on the OPO2 they just need to make available on Verizon and I will be a happy camper.

It's been 5 days with the Nexus 6 and I ********** love this thing! The battery life is excellent (5+ hours screen on time), the camera is above par, performance is perfectly smooth, the speakers are outrageously loud and clear, and I'm loving the ability to wirelessly charge the thing.

When the phone first came out I was very underwhelmed with it because of subpar battery life and performance, but with 5.1 this thing is almost the perfect mobile companion. I picked up my 6 Plus yesterday, turned it on, and put it back in the box. The screen looked so muted compared my Nexus, and with so many of my friends making the switch to Android having iMessage isn't all that important to me anymore.

So its been 2 weeks with the Nexus 6 and thought I would post my review if you will.

Pros:
  • Lollipop 5.1-it is an absolute pleasure and flies on this device. I love all the quirky animations, clean look, and the presentation of it
  • Screen-There are better ones out there in the S6 line but coming from a 6+ this vibrant display and media watching on this device is second to none
  • Front facing speakers- I've never used a device with them and may be hard to ever go back to a device without them. I do a ton of conference calls and these make those calls so much more enjoyable
  • Design-I have grown used to the size and I actually enjoy the contours and metal band to go with my Dbrand skin. I get a ton of inquiries on it
  • Wireless charging-First time using this as well and not sure I can ever go back. I have 2 in the places I spend the most time. My office at home and office at work. I love being able to get a charge with it idly sitting on my desk. Amazing
  • Bluetooth-So this device syncs so much better than my 6+ did with my Dodge Ram. It instantly plays every single time right where I left off on Spotify. No refreshing, no manual intervention to toggle off or on and no re-opening the app. It is a small thing but a huge plus for my truck experience.
  • Notifications-I find I am getting my notifications more consistently on Lollipop vs iOS and I really love ambient display.
  • App management-I havent gotten one refresh yet and easily the best device I have ever used when toggling between apps or browsers. Small thing but huge enjoyment

Cons
  • Camera-I debated on whether to make a list in between pros and cons but if I am not sure its a pro, I am listing it here. It isnt terrible, it isnt amazing its just average for me. It is capable of amazing shots but shutter speed is something that is big to me and it is pretty mediocre
  • Lack of finger print scanner-When I got my 6+ I thought it was a gimmick. I quickly grew to love the touch ID and leaving it has been a pain point. I had to set up my phone with workarounds and just left a screen lock off for easier access as I hate passcodes and I hate pattern locks
  • Battery-this is probably an unfair con but I love this screen at full brightness. I dont have issues on day to day use as i have wireless chargers everywhere as discussed. Problem is on weekends.I use GPS a lot in a new city and it drains very fast. It hasnt been downright horrid but its just an average battery coming from the 6+ and OPO
  • Outdoor visibility- pretty bad. As said I crank my brightness to full as the norm. Even then it is a pretty terrible experience in direct sunlight or when wearing sunglasses navigating this thing
  • Physical buttons-terrible location of the volume rocker/power button. Separate them on either side or make a bigger differentiator between the 2. I constantly find myself pressing volume
  • Lack of iMessage-not a fault of the phone but I find issues trying to send images that never occurred once on iMessage due to size. I really miss that the most and probably the biggest lack of this device for me
  • Lack of Facetime-again, an iOS thing but this is so big as almost all of my family has iPhones and I miss this. Having them change to a different app isnt an option and severly limits my interactions with them as we used it a lot

Overall this device is amazing. The cons are not deal breakers and the user experience of Stock Android on 5.1 vs iOS has opened my eyes and it will be hard to go back. I recommend it to anyone looking to jump into Android as the user experience is excellent, the device is future proofed for updates, and the device is one of the best Android phones out there.

I would give the device a solid 8.5Cs on the Cnasty scale

Is everyone rocking tempered screen protector's, or no ?
I couldn't find one that didn't bobble at edges so went with standard style one's from spigen.

@cnasty

Agree with pretty much all your thoughts, it's great having no app refreshes and I love reading books on my Nexus 6 in bed. Outdoor visibility is indeed an area which suffers most.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback as I try to provide things that I know I had questions about coming from other popular phones such as the 6+ or S6.

I enjoy writing and I enjoy tech. Reviewing items and providing even just a little nugget of information to one person makes it all worth while.

The only gripe I have is outdoor visibility but outside of that I find the Nexus 6 to be the best smartphone experience of any phone I've had and this is after almost 6 months of ownership. I attribute this to the continuous performance updates via OS and Gapps. The Google ecosystem has become so robust and because of the lack of limitations it allows developers to be incredibly creative (pushbullet is a prime example of this).

I find the camera more than adequate and better than most android phones outside of Samsung devices.

Your going to love the device anymore once you get your moto 360. It makes the experience even better. Thanks for the great review.

Nice. The power button does have a texture on it while the volume button is smooth. Of course this may not be helpful if your case covers them.

I do not follow sales figures but the price coupled with its size will hinder that somewhat. Even if folks shop and get a good deal like us, that does not change the size issue.

I find myself using the Note 4 more, probably the best overall smartphone on market weighing the pros and cons.

Yes I am aware. I just wish they had made it a tad bigger or moved the volume rocker to the other side. Minor gripe

This is the problem I'm experiencing with a case. My only issues with the phone are the button placement, top heaviness and outdoor visibility. All minor to be honest.

I havent noticed this probably because I have wireless chargers everywhere but I previously put location mode to "battery saving".

I have gone back into it and its back on "high accuracy" again.

Any reason or anyone know how to make it stay on battery saving and not change?

Been using my S6 and IP6 more as daily drivers. I love being able to flash different roms on my Nexus 6 but you can only flash so many roms! :)

I guess we can only praise the device so much before it becomes repetitive. I echoed my sentiments on the the phone in my little mini review and it has been nothing but stellar for me.

My next big step is integrating a Moto 360 and setting that up to where it is optimal to leave my phone on the wireless charger or pocket and see what I want and dont want heading to the watch. I am disappointed I cant take calls on the 360 but that is a minor gripe as texts are far more in volume.

I will recommend to anyone looking to keep their device slim that I love my D brand for added grip from their skin. Sure its any protection really if dropped but I handle my phones like babies so should be good.
