LOL.

If you have EVER had a browser crash, you have had it crash because of flash.

Wow I'm glad to know you can speak for every computer in the world and every computer user.

I also have never had Safari or Firefox crash because of Flash. I have had four tabs of Flash sites today since 9:30 and nothing has crashed. That is a typical day for me. We stream live HD video to people all the time and we create custom flash players for these clients and we never had a user ever have Flash crash the browser on PC or a Mac. Granted many of our clients do not use a Mac but I use a Mac everyday for Flash development and I have never had it crash along with hundreds of my friends who also use Flash. Of course I cannot speak for everybody on the internet either but the difference here is that I do not claim to know the answer to everything. Not a single person here can make an absolute claim that one thing does something for everybody in the world. I'm really sorry that some people have a problem with Flash crashing but do not try to claim that is the norm like you know how my computer is acting right now.

Have you ever had a browser crash?

I think apple said that 1/3 or 1/4 of browser crashes is because of flash so he doesn't necessarily have to have had a browser crash caused by flash to have had a browser crash.

Who knows, maybe there are some lucky bastards out there who doesn't get crashes from flash.

maybe once a year if that. It just doesn't happen to me very much. I have had my whole computer crash before but again that is usually pretty rare. I tend to keep my computers pretty clean however so maybe thats why.

Hey I am usually an unlucky bastard but I'll take it. The ironic thing here is that years ago I switched to a Mac to avoid crashing and it has happened very seldom ever since then and I have been using Flash non stop since then.

Not that I have a lot of crashes caused by flash either but clearly some people have problems with it.

A lot of high end sports cars come with manual transmissions; but low end cars have automatic... I guess those exotic sports cars are quite mediocre as well?

LOLOLOL... your kidding right?

If some of you like flash so much why don't you marry it?

This is the best argument I've heard yet. :p It's right at the level of Bobhail and other trolls. Reason doesn't get through, but this just might. :D

A good one for BobHail: If you hate Apple so much, why don't you divorce it?

Absolutely right; when you follow dgree03's analogies to their logical conclusion you see how silly his argument is.

IF you mean Hulu, perhaps, but that doesn't mean one should dismiss Flash as an insignificant omission on the iphone/touch/ipad.

You're correct that my remark was directed at Hulu.

I made no comment about Flash because supporting or lack of support is a matter of opinion that is neither correct nor wrong.

"Then don´t buy it" is probably the weakest argument ever, right after the "troll card".

Let´s see, I´ve had only 1-2 crashes with Safari on my iMac and MBP in 3 years. I´ve had maybe 4-5 Safari crashes with my iPhone in 1 year. And I use my FULL internet 99% of the time.

So I would argue that full browser with flash is actually more stable than iPad/iPhone mobile browser without the flash. How do you like them Apples? ;)

Flash crashing on Safari. Apple's claim it's the number 1 reason the browser crashes.

Everyone says it doesn't happen or rarely happens. Well I'd imagine were all using OSX because it is in fact "stable" so while crashes are rare, why is it so hard to imagine Flash is the cause? Sure Apple can spin it anyway they like. They didn't say Flash causes a specific number of crashes, just that it's the on top of the list of reasons why Safari does.

I've run MBP's and iMac's myself for years and the only time the machines turn off or reboot is for the updates. I don't recall the last time i had safari actually crashed to desktop, but I know it happens now and then. I hit the send data and move on. If that was flash, or wasn't flash isn't the point.

Taking personal data and trying to apply it as a conter argument to Apple's compiled data is pointless. Individual experiences are literally one in ten million+++ when looking at the pool of data they collect.

Bottom line with flash, if you have any clue about how the plug in works. Have done 10 minutes worth of research you know as well as anyone it's not the ideal solution for safari and OSX. Apple doesn't want to give Adobe access to it's root API's and access to the CPU and memory directly. Adobe has a huge market share with Windows based machines and has no need to change how they do things for Apple. Each company has their own idea's of how things should be done. Adobe and flash is a closed standard. Apple (SJ) is clearly hard headed enough neither will budge. In the meantime we still have the choice to buy Apple products or not.

No amount of kicking and screaming about flash will change any of it.

-And yes, FLASH! Which is used in pretty much every site.

This is a completely ridiculous assertion.

I have been using Flashblock since Firefox 1.0 (I was using Opera with plugins off before that).

With flash block I get to see exactly where Flash would be and in years of surfing.

My view:
~60% of sites have no flash at all (Unless you count flash adverts, no weeping to miss those).

Of the 40% that have flash most of it is video. Of the video links, most are youtube and that will be covered.

Maybe 10% of sites have flash navigation junk and that number has definitely been shrinking in favor of Ajax/Open features these days.

If there are solutions for youtube/vimeo/dailymotion/Hulu, and it looks like there will be, flash becomes a relatively small issue. Sure it is something detractors can use to attack iPad, but in the end it simply won't matter to the majority of people who aren't flash devs for Adobe employees.
