On install on BigSur says not compatible even opening gatekeeper and install terminated. Lots of glitches on word, outlook and using bootcamp. Will revert to Catalina.

I love it. Unfortunately I had to downgrade back to Catalina because of unsupported software (Quickbooks!).

I can still play MKV files on Big Sur with VLC. And sure there are couple of glitches like with any OS but nothing major in my experience.

Big Sur is the worse OS yet!
Notification Centre is too static..
You can't use 3rd party widgets..
For calendar I can't select the month or year..
System keeps crashing very often..
I don't care about stupid memojis..
Useless features..give me back my widgets!
I don't see what's the benefit of the upgrade..

why not post about what's happening, and ask for help, instead of whining? something's up with your install, or there's another issue.

when something doesn't work right, it needs to be fixed. and this is a community of ppl who can help. also, it's an operating system, so what happens under the hood is the most important part.

if you can't, for example. open months or years in the calendar, that's not normal big sur behavior. ask for help, and hopefully the community here can provide that.

If your system keeps crashing, try a fresh install. A lot of times, that solves whatever bug=(s) may be triggering the crash.
Agreed, that's what I had to do. I had upgraded to BS (I still think that's an unfortunate moniker) and after a couple of weeks, it started throwing kernel panics. I reinstalled BS (clean install) but things became worse—no app would connect to the Internet, Finder would crash and not restart, etc. Finally, I had to do an Internet Recovery (which I had never done before) and went back to Catalina.

I kept it there for a week with no problems and decided to pull the trigger and try BS again (I could always do another recovery if necessary). It's been over 2 weeks now and I've had ZERO problems, in fact, since the update, this install of BS doesn't seem to be as "washed out" as my first installation.

I don't know if it's just this install or if the colours were darkened from 11.0 to 11.1, but I do like it—better than Catalina that, to my eyes, is just TOO dark now.

Sounds like you're running more third party apps than the OS can handle. Get rid of all your gimmicks and bells and whistles, then reinstall. These machines cannot recognize and update every foreign app you're forcing it to use. Sorry it's not as easy as your TV remote, but you need to stop crying and put some effort into solving the problem.

Sounds like it's time for you to go iPad Pro exclusive.

My machine can't run it... but then I doubt I want to.

You have a new M1 Mac or an INTEL Mac? Maybe downgrade your OS to one that worked better for you? Not all OS upgrades are really meant for all machines.

For me, I like Big Sur...

isn’t it funny that no matter what comes out, or what you buy, there will always be someone with the opposite view of yours as to How it performs or way it looks. I can almost bet if he’ll made his own Big Sur operating system the way he wants it, there will be many come on to his thread and badmouth it. Guaranteed

:rolleyes:I don't hate it. I disrespect it! Issues on both my 2015 27" iMac, and M1 MacMini abound. Sleep crashes every night on the iMac, weird compatibility issues between even Apple apps. on the M1.

Clean installs on both. But I soldier on, hoping the bugs eventually die.

I'm on older, obsolete Mac hardware from2011/2012, and High Sierra is rock solid like the, um, High Sierras.

Perhaps an older MacOS will do you good, unless you're on new Mac hardware (where you cannot install older OSes).

Otherwise, I believe the clean install advice is sound, even if it seems like it will not solve your dislike of the OS features.

Two sh*tty macOS in a row is :( , shovelling a blatantly mobile-centric OS onto all your power desktop users is beyond rude, and to rub it in - the audacity to call this buggy pos Big "Sir".
