we have no choice, we have to love Big Sur, because Mojave will be out of support very soon in this Oct or Nov.

Despite still running Tiger on a G4 ibook for a network task, illustrating my respect for old hard & software, BS runs fine on my MBP i9 16" 2019.

I'm very wary of new OS and update releases and tend not to be an early adopter, but I bit the bullet with BS, love it.

Those moaning should format & clean install, test then install your apps etc one at a time, testing each time - you may identify the culprit.

If it's knackered after a fresh install you likely have a hardware issue.

Catalina can still be an option, although not as solid as Mojave. I am back using Catalina and very happy, after few months trying to adjust myself to like Big Sur.
