iOS 12 will help with faceid issues. I know for me the update was significant.

Assuming they upgrade the hardware for Face ID, and software revisions of course. But I guarantee part of the Keynote they will place emphasis on Face ID and any possible changes.

The 6s plus and 7s plus and 8 plus all have more display area because of the narrow aspect ratio on the X.
I had the X for a while ( have an 8 Plus now) and it was just too small for me. I'll wait for the X Plus :)

So it wasn't really the notch you didn't like with less info you went on about? , you know the X plus will have a notch too.

The Plus has very slightly more screen area, about 12.9 vs 12.8 sq ins

It's very noticeable side by side, video is bigger, text bigger, keyboard bigger, i have a X and my wife a 8 plus.

The X with notch is a dog of a phone for video in landscape, if you don't want the notch blocking it's same screen viewing as a 8.
X plus wont be any different will probably be same as current 8 plus when you take notch out for video.

I have no issues watching hd movies on my X. Great picture and nothing significant my 6s Plus had over the X in viewing the movies. The smaller form factor makes it worthwhile. Once into the movie, the notch is irrelevant to me. All IMHO---:)

its funny how you can't critize the iPhone X without offending people. Not having the touch iD is a legit complaint.

It’s a complaint because people have not adapted to Face ID as a new technology yet and they were so used to using touch ID, and change is not always accepted the way others do. Over time, Face ID will become more refined. That’s the nature of new technology and eventually all the complaints and issues will likely subside, there always be a select few who will not like Face ID, similarly how there are some who don’t like touch ID. It’s all preference.

I hope the next iPhone uses both.

It won’t. Apple is not about to compromise their new future and security with Face ID by offering touch ID as an alternative. That would be counter intuitive. As matter fact, Craig Federighi (Senior VP of Software Engineering) has stated Apple experimented with touch ID under the display as ‘Plan B’ in case Face ID wasn’t operable, however; Face ID was always their their primary goal. Touch ID is not coming back.

The same is true when apple is criticized
Not having the touch iD is a legit complaint. I hate the face id compared to the touch iD. I hope the next iPhone uses both.
I have used both and prefer FaceID over TouchID but ideally the next phone will have both. Putting the TouchID on the back like the Pixel has would be ideal because I found ergonomically it is better than where apple puts it at least for me.

Well to be honest it is a combination of both. I found the X to be rather small for a 5.8 inch phone. Then to be honest i think the notch is a design failure imho. I'm not against bezels ( i use an 8 plus :)). I think they should have made the bezel a little larger so the notch would not be needed.
Yes I am aware the X Plus will have a notch too :)

I agree......I like TouchID more than FaceID. Its faster and easier to use for me.

Really don't know what to do. I really dislike my X (after coming from 8 Plus) and I think I want to revert back to the Plus. BUT, I can upgrade with my carrier in September so I can't work out if I should just ride out the issues - size, rubbish battery life etc - and get a new (hopefully better) phone then or just bite the bullet and go for the 8 Plus again and stick with it for a while/

I'd say stick with the 8 Plus for a couple of years until this whole notch and Face ID business settles down. It also cues you up just right for the upcoming 5G phone in 2020 or so..

My suggestion would be to wait until September and see what Apple comes up with this year. Even if it’s something you’re not overwhelmed about, still getting a 8 plus at that point will be cheaper than now.

I think the first batch, first production runs, first 3-4 months, are iffy, a gamble.

A case can block the Lightning port, affect wireless charging if thick even. And whether a clean setup would help.

I don’t understand this. What exactly is expected for the notch and face ID to ‘settle’ down. If you’re to refining, that’s the natural progression of technology in general. The Notch likely Won’t change for while for at least two more years in my opinion.

It's extra funny when someone seems to take offense at a complaint about the X, tells people that have a problem with a particular feature of the X that they should take some time to get used to the new technology, and THEN goes and calls someone out for failing to exchange the X within the 14 day return period. See it all the time around here.

I don't like FaceID. I got rid of my X because of it. That in no way invalidates someone else's experience with the device. People need to stop defending themselves against attacks that aren't there.

Which is exactly the timeframe I was suggesting the OP wait...

Wow, is it really that bad? I have an iPhone 7 and really want the X for the longer battery life, wireless charging, and quick charging. I'm thinking about waiting until September though.

Not at all. It's a very good phone. But everything you are looking for can be had in an 8/8 plus. While the X didn't suit me, you may love it.

It really isn't. I've had all the iPhones since the 3GS and the X is hands-down the best.

See, this is the problem with the internet....it falsely amplifies negative viewpoints because they dominate online forums.

People happy with a device won't be commenting as much, mainly because they know they'll be wasting their time (as I did here earlier, since the OP didn't reply), & that many who are (often continually) posting complaints, do so with alterior motives.

Thing is I can understand people not liking some things about the X.

But switching apps with a home-button better? WTF? Swiping the screen is way faster...

How is posting complaints about a device having ulterior motives

I agree when I use the SE that I keep in my car for Google Maps and Play Music I tend to swipe up on the screen out of habit. Doing away with the home button was a step in the right direction

I would wait the three months to make decisions. And in terms of comparison with iPhone 7 and iPhone X battery life, One might make the counter argument of which is better with battery over the other, but it really depends on how you use your iPhone, what settings you have, etc.
