Did that not satisfy you enough? He answered it, just not directly. He simply stated he is just amazed at the Runcore performance and the notion that he is affiliated with them is funny. Yes, his review read like an advertisement, but that's what happens when a product blows you away.

We might as well ask him if he works for Apple.

It's not about satisfying me, I wasn't the one that asked the question. I was simply pointing out that he was asked a specific and direct question which he didn't answer.

I hope to get one in the near future. I think it would be awesome to upgrade my HDD to a runcore SSD and now that I know that you can keep your apple warranty by putting the old drive back in, I for sure will do this. I just don't have the money right now, but when I do, fast MAC here I come.

I was pretty happy as well when I installed a 120GB Vertex SSD into my Macbook Pro. It too was out of this world. Everything opens up now right as I click on it with no loading times what so ever. I was just curious as to whether or not his boot times improved by much because I have heard that some people were getting boot times in under 20 seconds and my Macbook Pro requires about 28 seconds to fully load from the second I hit the power button till everything is up. I was wondering how far off the Macbook Pro and the Air were with the new SSD in the Macbook Air.

I still think Apple could be held responsible for voiding an AppleCare warranty if all someone did was swap the drive. Someone needs to challenge Apple on all its BS about voiding warranties when someone changes a part or produces a minor "ding" on their Mac. Apple is operating in bad faith to do such a thing to its customers.

...

"Someone" doesnt need to, Magnuson already did 34 years ago! :)

Please do tell how that applies to Apple voiding warranties in bad fath?

If I were a lawyer specializing in warranty law I am sure I could give a better answer. Since I am not I will highlight this relevant section and leave it at that:

...
"Tie-In Sales" Provisions
Generally, tie-in sales provisions are not allowed. Such a provision would require a purchaser of the warranted product to buy an item or service from a particular company to use with the warranted product in order to be eligible to receive a remedy under the warranty. The following are examples of prohibited tie-in sales provisions.

In order to keep your new Plenum Brand Vacuum Cleaner warranty in effect, you must use genuine Plenum Brand Filter Bags. Failure to have scheduled maintenance performed, at your expense, by the Great American Maintenance Company, Inc., voids this warranty.
While you cannot use a tie-in sales provision, your warranty need not cover use of replacement parts, repairs, or maintenance that is inappropriate for your product. The following is an example of a permissible provision that excludes coverage of such things.

While necessary maintenance or repairs on your AudioMundo Stereo System can be performed by any company, we recommend that you use only authorized AudioMundo dealers. Improper or incorrectly performed maintenance or repair voids this warranty.
Although tie-in sales provisions generally are not allowed, you can include such a provision in your warranty if you can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the FTC that your product will not work properly without a specified item or service. If you believe that this is the case, you should contact the warranty staff of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection for information on how to apply for a waiver of the tie-in sales prohibition.

Unless Apple can prove the replacement part caused damage to the rest of the computer, its warranty remains intact and simply excludes the new, non Apple part.

Scottsdale,

How long did it take you to receive your Runcore SSD from the time you ordered the SSD? Thanks!

I anticipate receiving the Runcore Drive today. I ran XBench for a before/after test. Results: 131.25. Will run test later after new installation.

I would be interested to know where we can buy this. I've heard good things about this type of upgrade before, but I don't want to buy from eBay (too many scams) or a website I've never heard of.

Are these kits available at large internet retailers similar to Newegg or Amazon with good return policies?

Please keep in mind I am not interested in hearing about your success stories with eBay. I've been scammed once and I will never use eBay again.

mydigitaldiscount.com has an ebay store which is where I purchased mine from so I could get the bing cash back. (The link is on the previous page in this thread) They shipped it the same day and according to UPS tracking its out for delivery right now :)

If you're not comfortable with that you can buy it directly from their website.

Thanks Scottsdale! Understood. My results are very similar to what you posted before the Runcore.

What are your initial observations? I noticed the differences immediately once opening a few apps. I never see beach balls either. But the changes are everywhere in the system. Everything feels faster as a whole. Yes, slight bootup speed ups, but the system as a whole feels like instant results whenever doing anything/everything.

I see you have the X-25M as well. Which SSD do you prefer, size notwithstanding?

I don't think you can make a fair comparison. The x25-m is in a 17" 3.06, so overall the machine is going to be much faster. But as far as opening applications and running virtual machines, they seem about the same. The xbench disk score is only about 50 points higher on the x25-m, so in day to day use you really can't tell the difference.
