Mince pies are out in the local supermarket, so we're getting closer ...
Halloween candy is in my local super markets and the craft store Michaels has their holiday stuff available.

A few years ago I started working on a little Christmas tree app but never got around to finishing it. Well, today I finally did!

I'm not sure if anyone here will remember it, but it's based on a mac app called X-MasTree that I loved when I was a kid. This was around 2003/2004. Sadly it's no longer being developed and doesn't work on modern versions of macOS.

You can try out my new version at xmastreeapp.com

Let me know if you have any feature requests and I'll see what I can do to get them in before the holidays :)

I also can't find anything out about the original developer John Schilling, if anyone knows him, I'd love to share this version with him.
Thanks so much. Now my Christmas is complete, withe MaclampsX just like mac OX Tiger old days. By the way, a very happy Christmas to you and to your family!!

Recently moved to a lovely mountain. Have Pine trees in the garden, bought some nice solar lights, was going to put them up today, but too cold and wet. So I put on the app from Mithi. It still looks good, but I wish the countdown was on a Christmas present near the middle with other presents beside.

New app - Snowy "a delightful menu bar app that adds falling snow and festive holiday lights to your desktop. Free to download"

I have one issue with Snowy, it tries to connect to the developer’s website on launch.

Is there a preferences toggle/option to check for software updates on launch?

No. There are no settings, only options for snow, holiday lights and wallpaper. I installed the App Store version, but the zipped one behaves in the same way.

If you add in / download / purchase the Festivitas app, then desktop is even more complete. Thank you again for Christmas tree app

Edit.. I see the Snowy app is a near clone of Festivitas or vice-versa - didn't mean to suggest an app that's similar just to fill up the thread.

I don’t think anyone minds new information, but it’s better to post a link to the app, to avoid people searching for it and ending up with something else. (mac malware in Google searches https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/big-mac-virus-on-youtube-be-aware.2474389/ )
