. Many times I'd go to bed with 80 percent charge and wake up with nothing, that has never happened on iPhone.

Not in the Note 8. I lose about 4% at night. Just have to be sure you can figure your settings accordingly. Bixby controls every aspect the phone and makes setting them with a simple voice command way too easy

1. Note 8 has a larger screen.
2. Size wise, it's a little taller than the iPhone 6 plus I had, so the size of it does not bother me.
3. It has an SD card, the iPhone X doesn't.
4. It has headphone jack, the iPhone X doesn't.
5. Samsung screen has a higher resolution than the iPhone X's screen
6. The notch on the iPhone X bothers me. The phone is not aesthetically appealing to the eyes. The Samsung Note 8 is beautiful and symmetrical. It reminds me of the monolith from the 2001: a Space Odyssey.
7. I use the S-pen occasionally for writing quick notes and to do lists. The iPhone X doesn't have one.
8. You can customize the Note 8. You can't on the iPhone X.
9. The Note 8 retains the virtual home button. The iPhone X did away with it.
10. Granted it is located in an awkward position, the Note 8 has a finger scanner. The iPhone doesn't.
11. Note 8 has a finger scanner, an iris scanner, and a facial recognition system. The iPhone X only has face ID.
12. The Note 8 has 6GB of RAM.
13. Google Voice is well integrated into Note 8. I could, for example, unlock the phone with my voice. Google voice, in my opinion, is far more advanced than Apple's Siri. Bixby is far behind Google voice and Siri, I admit that.

It’s easy to be selective to rationalise a purchase decision.

1. Note 8 is larger - no good for one-handed use.
2. iPhone has a physical mute switch. Note 8 does not.
3. Bionic chip vs SD/Exynos.
4. You can replace an iPhone at an Apple store within minutes. Just not close to launch (iPhone 8/8+ excluded of course!).
5. iPhone has True Tone option. Note 8 does not.
6. ‘Kitchen sink’ approach for hardware/software versus simplification and efficiency.

And on...iOS exclusives...and on...Android wearables...and on... resale value....

You really can go round and round depending on which device you choose.

Just buy what you need/like and be happy. It’s not a zero-sum game.

Enjoy whatever device you finally settle on.

I would have picked the 8+.
Your right the 8+ is like previous iPhones, except for the hdr/Dolby vision capable True Tone display, insane speakers, wireless charging, and dual lens camera. There is nothing wrong with that if it works for you.
You forgot the A11 Bionic chip, but you are right exactly the same....

Lol, the whole battery life in Android vs iOS nonsense has been debunked countless times in multiple battery tests where iPhones show abysmal they are when you actually use them.

Here's the very latest, both iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X get obliterated:

It's become a norm.

Shocking, another completely biased test. Why am I not surprised.

Relax man.

The iPhone is just another smartphone nowadays with it's pros & cons. It's NOT the Jesus of phones like it used to be. Battery life on the 8+ is pitiful and worst than the 7+, the 7+ actually charges faster with the faster charger than the 8+. That's not acceptable. The iPhone X is the best battery life vs previous iPhones, but plenty of Android phone have better battery life. DEAL WITH IT!!!

This is the definition of a biased oled test.

The iPhone X definitely does have the nicest oled display on the test.
Enjoy your device.

Based on the media attention, news and general hype surrounding the iPhone X, it seems to me it is the “Jesus of phones” like it used to be.(man what a description) but to each their own interpretation. I wouldn’t say that about the iPhone 8 though.

Why would you want to hold a $1000 shatter prone phone with one hand? Multitasking with the other hand?

Physical mute button? That's outdated. Funny Apple did away with a physical home button but retained a physical mute button.

Your third point is debatable. I don't use the phone for gaming.

Don't forget who supplies OLED screens to Apple. I am sure Samsung could have used the same screen on their phones. But they didn't. There are many reports of screen Burn-ins on iPhones.

IOS is bland and not customizable.

Hey I'm happy with mine. :)

Let me ask you: what does the A11 Bionic bring to the average user?

And is iOS really more efficient? In what way?

Naw, the X is the Jesus of iPhones. But other phones match or outshine it, according to personal preference.

Lol, they have to clutch at straws, look at them all over the Alternative forum just sit back and be entertained.

It's great that tests like this are debunking all the nonsense many of them would come here to spread.
It really is amusing to watch the 2 apologist in the alternative section struggle to validate themselves and their phone buying choices.......then it turns really sad lol

Exactly the same for the "green bot likers". Don't you think? At any rate it's always better to discuss the subject matter rather than the subjects.

Certainly not the case for most real world usage.

I got 13 hours usage and 22 hours standby.

Standby time in reality where the iphone is the best out there. Maybe the note 8 is different but I had all previous years samsung devices and battery life was below par

I don't doubt battery life isn't improved on the note 8 but i have never found battery life to compare to iphones. The X battery life is far better than I was expecting and easily better than my 7 plus.

Two things you only need to do to fall for the Note 8 over the iPhone X:

1. Pick both devices up separately at a time and make sure video enhanced mode is turned on...on the Note 8 and watch a youtube video in full screen 1440p. Then do the same to the iPhone X (of course no video enhancement mode and maybe you are seeing a partial video or something covered with a notch). See which display you would fall head over hills for in terms of video quality and watching movies. Sure it will be the Note 8.

2. Next, check the extra functionalities of each device individually and what it can do to make your life productive and manageable without a hassle. Choose something that gives you choices and customization to your individual liking. Then, again you would choose the Note 8.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in that review.

Dunno about the note 8, but played with a S8 and x , and the S8 felt meh.... maybe cause it was in a case. The x is really nice hardware.

The iPad Pro 10.5 , there is no better , in my opinion

That's the thing with iOS. Usage number is not real (a way for apple to exaggerate). You are not doing anything with phone at night - usage time accumulates. You play music with screen off - usage times accumulates. Usage number on iphone is just plain nonsense. If you are using the phone means the screen is on - otherwise no usage - plain and simple. Android gives you screen on time which is no-nonsense measure of usage.

I also just made the switch from iPhone 6S+ (2 years to the day) to a Note 8. My recommendation is to spend a several hours on YouTube watching some videos. There is so much you can do with the Note 8 that isn't obvious. You need to really spend several weeks to get comfortable I think, but I will confess that after one weekend I was sold. Part of that was how surprised and delighted I was with the Gear S3 Frontier.
[doublepost=1510145440][/doublepost]

I'm looking to switch from my 6S+ on 10.3.3 to the Note 8. My biggest concerns are battery since the iPhone can last me all day and then some... How do you find battery life to be in comparison to the old iPhone 6s+?

I have a iPhone 8 plus and a Note 8 and battery life is the same or a little better on the Note 8 for me.
