This is hilarious, thanks for the laugh OP. Someone needs to get a life, but I won't say who! Why didn't you just give up after the 7th try and buy something else... I wonder how many hours or days you've wasted on this.
Hold on, you said earlier that you have gone through “like eight” of them already.
You can’t do that without actually buying it.
Whatever.

Here are four different iPad Pros with warped aluminum bodies. Three of these are confirmed to have come out like this out of the box.

Many of my iPad Pros came with a ding where the SIM tray slot were. All of these units had serial numbers starting with DLXX.

One of my iPad Pro’s suddenly creaked when it was being picked up, causing a rippling effect any where it was touched under pressure, it would also cause rippling near the bottom of the display when the iPad it’s lifted. This was another iPad Pro just recently taken out of the box.

My first iPad Pro warped, a bump you could feel with your fingers.

In-store model with a warped aluminum body. Fortunately you can slightly see it in a normally lit environment, usually it’s only noticeable under specific lighting.
Listen it’s fair to question my sanity over returning this product eight times. I do. The fact is that going out of my way to return it 8x not only speaks for my ocd levels but the fact that I like the product but am wishing for one with minimal defects.
The warping is extreme. After going through so many I realized the warping is a feature and anybody that doesn’t see it isn’t looking hard enough and good for them
I’ve seen this warping across several outlets, not just Apple. Melancholy has a thread on it. Same exact spots each time. Some more severe than others. Clearly something wrong with the manufacturing process. This is why I’ve settled on the 10.5 and will revisit this model in 3 months. They are in a rush to pump out as many units as possible for the holidays and qc is going by the wayside.
Apples products to me are synonymous with quality. Which makes this particular product even more baffling.
There are many viewpoints on this subject and they are all valid. I don’t feel I’m abusing the return policy when the items have defects.
I don’t see why anyone would argue against panel irregularities when the iPad is THE panel. The single thing you interact with every second of use.
I won’t accept a device that 65 inch TVs have betterpanel uniformity than a 12.9 inch form factor. I won’t accept looking at lines when viewing one dark color in the middle of the screen because the backlight behind the display is uneven.
If I get a warped backside in 3 months I will throw in the towel and live with it. It’s only ****** when you realize that other people are paying the same amount you are and getting perfect units. The aluminum issue is widespread. At least in my experience.
Yea you don’t know how obnoxious it is for me having to drive to the Apple store this many times.
I didn’t have these issues with my last Apple products. Somethings up. The aluminum is so bad it looks crimped in certain angles.
I do agree there is a fine line. I’m about to give up after this last one and wait a few months.
Here’s one of the most frustrating things you realize when you have 2 to 3 in hand and comparing them. They can make the perfect one and for the premium these devices cost in comparison the the competition they need to be.
When you have 3 laid out on a table and one exhibits the backlight bleed but doesn’t have the gray uniformity issue while the other doesn’t exhibit the backlight bleed but has the gray uniformity issue it’s annoying. That or you get one that has neither but the screen is piss yellow in comparison to the other two.
It can be made. I would be cool if manufacturers just came out and sold a and b level stock upfront. Pay a little more of a premium to get the a stock. They’ll never do that though cause it’ll shine a line on the **** they’re putting out to market
I wish I was naive and maybe I am a touch ocd but I would love to enjoy the product in the naivety that it’s perfct just like the majority of folks out there. Fact is, it just isn’t.
How do you even check this? Do you have photographic visual memory to remember exactly what shade the TrueTone in the store was?-screen too warm and yellow with true tone on or off in comparison to store or other models
How do you even check this? Do you have photographic visual memory to remember exactly what shade the TrueTone in the store was?
Would you buy a new car with a scratch on it? No right? Why should I lower my standards for a 1400 device? I’m sorry but when your aluminum is warped out the box, hows it going to be in a year??
Do you buy TVs and plug n play? I check mine for the same things. I went through 6 TVs last year until I found one that was perfect to my standards. I will do the same with the iPad or I won’t purchase one this year
The reality is most people don’t check for faults and Apple will continue to slip on their qc because of it. When the return rates are so high maybe they’ll consider improving it
OP, do you have some photographic evidence to show these issues? I’m sure many would like to take a closer look at your findings.

Kind of hard to photograph "too warm". I admire Apple store employees, sometimes their eyes must roll out the back of their head.
my experience purchasing the new iPad Pro has changed that. I never had issues buying apple products around the quality control. I’m sorry but for a 1400 dollar device after taxes it better be damn near perfect.
I have been through like 8 iPad pros. 12.9.
You open one up and it’s like going through a checklist and praying you hit the lottery.
My checklist-
-screen too warm and yellow with true tone on or off in comparison to store or other models
-warped aluminum out the box
-uneven backlight around the edges
-panel uniformity
-dead pixels
I thought I finally found the perfect 12.9 checked all those boxes until I went to a site that had a solid dark gray in the middle. Boom: terrible gray uniformity
I guess when the majority of your customers don’t look for this you can get away with it but for the rest of us. Wow.
Lol. I gave up two days ago. Purchased a 10.5 What do you know, no BLB, uniformity issues, dead pixels, or warped alum.
I can do what I want with my money - and if that's reserving until I find a unit that meets my standards so be it. The fact is, there are units out there. Just not many.
You guys can continue to eat up whatever Apple throws your way. These last pro's were crap with a branded Apple logo. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yep, quality is top notch. In addition to having to exchange a few 12.9s to get one without dark areas on the screen, my brother’s 10.5 iPad had developed the white spot issue that’s been posted about in another thread. Got a replacement and this is what he received...
Here are a couple more, not taken by me, but by other users encountering the same issues.
There are plenty more who I’ve spoken to, but they haven’t uploaded a picture of defects online yet.

Here’s a dude with crimped space grey iPad Pro.

That same guy exchanged his iPad Pro before his return period expired, but received a unit with the same imperfection.

Here’s different user with a crimped aluminum body on his iPad, shown in a bright environment. He told me that this was his second exchange, because his first model came with a deep scratch on the aluminum. This guy also told me he has the same ding on his SIM slot cut-out like my previous units has have.

I expect light to shine uniformly on a flat sheet of aluminum, not expose this ripple-filled crimped iPad.
A lesson to learn - Never complain about Apple QC on this forum. You will be judged, berated, called a liar or a fool.
Most people don't see minor imperfections, flaws or consider their purchase after it's been made. But if Apple wants to charge premium prices and advertise their products in such a way that I should be expecting the very best of tech, then I damn well expect to get a flawless product. It's metal and glass, it's not that hard considering the design and manufacturing Apple has chosen. And consistent screen calibration should be a priority. It certainly is when they pick their shop floor display models!
Whatever... I don’t have issue with my iPad Pro....

Bingo.
When I brought my new 2016 Toyota Corolla 3 years ago, I noticed the seal on the door wasn’t exactly perfect. When i going at high speed on the highway, i can hear wind noise going through slight opening. Do i go back to dealer and demand swape a car?
Ridiculous. You should have at least asked them to rectify the door seal which they could have done easily. And when a car cost so much money you shouldn't have to live with a defect. But your proving that you dont care about these things. But that's you. This opinion doesn't not apply to people who spend their hard earned money and expect, quite rightly, to receive a defect free product.
