I just it myself, I'm kind of miffed that I'm now getting this crap.

I turned off the calendar, on my iPhone, and made sure its not syncing via iCloud - at this point, I can do without my icloud calendar

I got the ray-ban 19.99 version. Followed the instructions I found on the forum - created a new calendar, moved the events there, then deleted the calendar without notification. Then went to iCloud and changed the calendar preferences to be 'by email' instead of putting the events 'in app'. Won't prevent them but makes them manageable.

If you open the event you can see they're trying a bunch of different emails - all variations with your name in them. As long as you don't delete or accept them you won't validate your email address.

Where do these come out off? Just had 2 added now for Ugg Boot black Friday sales, the persons name is in Chinese with an email address ending in onehmail.com

Any ideas?

I've received a couple of these today. Is there a way to stop this happening?

anyone else get these phishing spam attempts to their calendar over the last few days? My iCal has been spammed with Chinese spam events for all sorts of "deals"

Unfortunately, I cannot delete them. Because they're calendar invites and not emails, the only option is to respond, which I won't due, as it confirms your email / calendar existence.

Meanwhile with no way of deleting them, my iCal on my iPad is filling up and sending me constant reminder alerts of spam events.

What's going on Apple. You're supposed to be protecting us from this sort of thing, and somehow you've given them a direct avenue.

I need a fix asap.

Just found that myself, but thanks.

I'm pretty annoyed with Apple that this security vulnerability -- which has been known for at least a few weeks -- has not been sorted.

It really should be possible to block all calendar invites.
Yup got me too.

I consider this a serious breach of security as it's provided a back door phishing attempt directly to iCloud user accounts.

With no way to delete and ignore, any response to the invites provides the sender a confirmation that your account does exist.

Need a way to delete asap.

For a company that prides itself on security, Apple really drops the ball in epic ways from time to time

Hello all hope everyone in the states had a good holiday.

So last week an alert went off on my phone, looked to see what it was and it was from the calendar app.

It was some spam in half English and Chinese selling sunglasses.

Didn't think anything of it I deleted the invitation. Then between yesterday and today it happened 5 or 6 more times. So for now I deleted my calendar app since I only use it to see the days of the week.

This is what it looks like

Getting a little annoying, anyone else ever see this before?

Thanks!

I just got 3 of these today at the same time. So far I have gotten a total of 5 calendar invites and 1 iPhoto Share invites. Starting to get real annoying and unsettling with the amount I have gotten.

Damnit ... I got one of these today and hit decline. I've only found out about the whole thing. So I guess I confirmed my address. What now ?

I did the same thing too. I deleted my calendar app for now. I don't use it for anything other than looking at a calendar and will just keep it deleted.

But I do question how they got my iCloud email when I never ever use it. Ever.

Thanks a lot for the info! Called Apple support and took me more time to get over the security than to read the suggestion, hopefully they update the Calendar App to enable a delete without accepting or the declining the spam invitation.

Yeah but you shouldn't have to do that. The spam thing should just be eliminated all together.

Got a bunch today and simply I created a New Calendar titled "Spam" then I clicked on one of them and changed the category from whatever it was and Spam and then I deleted the "Spam" calendar without having to accept or reject those events. I heard that if you reject, you are notifying them and thus they send you again.

Dude I just deleted my calendar app all together. Don't even use it other than seeing the days of the week.

Unfortunately I've got a lot tied to my calendars, memorable events over the years etc, so I'll just grit through it and hope Apple fixes it, as annoying as it is.

Yeah if you need it I can totally see this being a hassle. Apple hopefully will get enough of reported complaints and somehow fix it.
