Turn off the "in-app notification" from the settings of the calender app (in icloud.com).

Google calendar can automatically add events sent via email. There are options to disable that of course, just as there seem to be for iCloud as well.
I've been out of town while I got these and had no access to a computer, and I couldn't find it on the mobile site for Apple

now that i'm home i've managed to do it. Thanks!

Yeah, I don't know why/how Apple makes it almost impossible to use icloud.com with iOS browsers.

As mentioned in an earlier post:

Ok thanks.

On icloud.com I see - Calendar - preferences - advanced - invitations (was set as default to - in-app notifications), so I changed it to "email to" instead.

Hopefully that will help out.

For last week I was getting blasted with these spam cals. I noticed that was being sent to my Apple ID email. I changed my Apple ID and have not had one since.

Add me to the list of people plagued with this, really troubling that Apple hasn't even acknowledged this is happening. Primarily confirming what others have said here and elsewhere, but have a couple bits to add. First, the event was associated with my iCloud email address (and the majority of other invitees were iCloud addresses). There was no associated email, even in the spam folder (I never use this account for email), so it's somehow going directly to the Calendar app.

Creating a spam calendar, moving, and deleting the calendar took the event off of my calendar, but the notification remained in the top left corner of the calendar. Of course, deleted without notification, and another one hasn't popped up (yet).

I'm not too worried that my iCloud has been compromised, but at minimum Apple should come out to confirm this, and explain whether a list of iCloud addresses were somehow leaked, and assure everyone they are working on a fix.

it is not impossible.. you just have to select "a desktop view" from safari to access icloud.com. but not very convient to use... for example, when you go to the Photos page and then click your name (the right upper corner), the page starts expanding automatically :D

Sure, that gets you the site, and sure, you can login, but try navigating and moving around once you are in, you really can't.

Notes is the only page that doesnt work (ipad/safari). it doesnt do anything - the whole page is just blinking when tapping anything. (And Photos starts expanding, if you select your name.)

Other seems to work fine* (dont know about Mail, i dont use Apple Mail).

* Edit. Actually i can create a new page in Pages/Excel. So it only launches the app, create templates but doesnt let to edit it.

*Edit2. It seems to be that you cant edit (pages, keynote, excel) with your phone/tablet only with a computer (browser). i tried to access those templates from icloudDrive and it is opening the preview and says that "you can collaporate on a pc browser..." or download a copy.

I guess I should have mentioned using an iPhone in particular. Seems like you just get a part of the iCloud desktop page that loads in the window and can't zoom out or in, nor can you move around, you can essentially interact with what gets loaded in the window but that's about it. Perhaps it's different on the iPad due to having more space and thus much more of the site gets loaded, although I'm not sure if you would still be able to zoom out or in, or slide from one part of the page to another within the window (although that would only apply of the whole desktop site didn't fit into the window to begin with).

Well I deleted both my calendar apps off my idevices, and deleted the folder off my Mac where the invites were sent to.

Also went to iCloud.com and changed my settings like suggested. I'm not worried that anyone's info was compromised but this does seem like it reached millions of emails and devices.

This is probably the new normal unfortunitly. I swear I'm relying less and less on tech each and every day.

This really sucks for those who DO rely on their calendars and use the app through iCloud.

Spammers are also using photo sharing in photos too which from what I hear is impossible to get rid of.

I have had a couple of spam in the last 3 days, never had any before and it's been years since I received spam at email address.

Is it possible to block invites from anyone not in my contacts? For me that would be a work around.

  • Chinse on every day of my calander. What the heck is it?
Perhaps some more information would help as in where this calendar is (Mac, iPhone, etc.), where does the Chinese show up, etc.
