Let's take a look back at all the people who said if there wasn't a complete redesign so people could tell it was a new device and enhance their coolness, that they were going to get an Android phone, and let's see their recent posts where they talk about pre-ordering the iPhone 4S.

I asked myself the same question only yesterday. I've purchased all of the iPhones and have enjoyed them immensely. I think I'll be moving to Android if the next iPhone doesn't impress me. Part of the problem is AT&T and its crappy service.

So you're going to not only go to Android if there's only an iPhone 4S, but you're going to cancel AT&T too?

Stuck at stupid existing customer screen!!!!
Edit: Progress! Now stuck at check upgrade eligibility screen :)

Existing customer screen? Upgrade eligibility screen? You not only didn't go to Android, but you didn't cancel AT&T, either, and are actually reupping with them for another 2 years?

ill prolly pick up an android device

i love apple but i have an ipad already and the iphone design is getting boring to me

So if the iPhone was the same design and wasn't a brand new design, you were going to go to Android?

ordered through apple and kept my unlimited

Hey, Apple doesn't sale Android devices! You ordered the new iPhone!

I'll never purchase a phone made of fragile glass. I have no desire to sink hundreds of dollars into repair costs because the thing shatters whenever it hits the ground.

If the iP5 is just a redesign, I'll sit this cycle out and wait another year on my 3GS until they offer a solidly constructed design to buy.

If it's glass and not redesigned you will sit it out? Okay. I'm going to hold you up to it!

I ordered the 32 -- but I'm starting to regret not future-proofing myself with the 64. $399 just seemed like an awful lot of money to lay out for a phone.

I might try to swap out for a 64 on launch day. Haven't decided yet.

So you DID get the new iPhone? I went with the 64gb. No buyers remorse here!

ill admit... apple has got me by the balls. the ease of syncing my media and personal info (calendar, address book, etc) with my Mac is what holding me with the iOS platform. :apple:
I've tried WP 7 and Android, syncing was possible, but just more work. especially with the Mac.

I preordered the iPhone 4s even after owning the iPhone 4.

That's the problem with Macs. They do not play well with the res of the World. Very limited choices. Very expensive. With no benefits.

Same here.. better yet, my wife and I both have iPhones and we use the same iTunes account to download apps and music, so we have a million apps we'd lose by switching... No worries though, I would have still gotten the iPhone 4S even if this wasn't the case. People think Android is better because they have more phone options but that is one of the main reasons I DON'T get an Android device. When I did have an Android device there were always problems with apps not working on my phone right because it wasn't optimized for my phone, ANNOYING!

I would never ever go to Android, it's a complete mess. The hardware is only a small part of the purchasing decision, it's the OS that you interact with directly and nothing compares to the ease of use and the beauty of iOS. I don't want to spend half my life making something work and the other half actually being productive. I expect my money is being spent on something that works right away. I just don't get the mentality of those who say "oh yeah, Android is the best, you just root it and change this and......" WTF. Who on earth wants to do that?! I have a work colleague who is Windows all the way, will never buy a Mac, but he has an iPhone4 and an iPad2. Why? Because it works.

I have an iPhone4 (and a first gen iPhone before that), my GF has an HTC. She hates it. She's encouraging me to upgrade to a 4S so she can have my 4, which I am considering.

I respect the freedom of others to make their own decisions on what they believe works for them, I just don't understand it.

Really? It's call integration and my perfect world is one where everyone uses Mac. Seeing as how I work in the fashion / imaging / creative industry that's pretty much everyone.

And if you haven't noticed Mac is taking over the world anyways so maybe the world should play nice with Mac ;)

I wouldn't make the move. The iOS / OSX ecosystem works for me and is what I have become accustomed to. If by "next iPhone" you mean the new 4S, I'll skip this one and get to the end of my 2 year contract. As for the iPhone after that (the iPhone 6 or whatever it gets called) I'll look at whether the features are something I want/need and decide whether to make the upgrade, and if it's not worth it then I'll just stick with the 4 and be happy with that because it does everything I need it to do.

I sold my iPhone 4 a while ago and got an android handset. I regret it if I'm honest. The whole os isn't as smooth and I liked the apple ecosystem of syncing with iTunes it was so much simpler :p

Might go with the Galaxy S II if Amazon drops the price down (currently at $150 tax free)...

Both operating systems I am comfortable with and both are fast smooth phones with no lag.

I apologize if sound like that, but I was just laughing about your post above because I thought you posted a joke...
Again, I apologize for not understanding that you were serious in your post.

A rational statement of both platforms! I use both android (droid x) and the iPhone 4. I really like both platforms. I have no stability issues with android. I use caldav to sync my mac calendar to google. Works seamlessly. When I get bored with one platform, I switch to the other.

The bigger screen on the dx is a plus for me. I use evernote extensively. Pull up the evernote app on an iPhone and then pull it up on a larger screen android phone - the iPhone shows about half the text because the fonts are too big and there is no way to change them. With the pixel density on the ip4 you should be able to shrink the print to get more on the screen.

So, I'm with you. I can use either platform without issue. Each has it's own benefits and each has it's own shortfalls.

We know that eventually a new design for iPhone will have to come out. The iPhone can easily last at least 3 to 4 years as long as you keep good care of your phone. I have an 3GS that I have had for 2 years and the phone still works flawlessly. I am upgrading because the 4S is a major change compared to the 3GS. I say just keep your I4 or I4S until an new design comes out. These phones last a long time as long as you treat them well.

Already made the switch. Loving the SG2.

Widgets and a simple file system are great. The screen is, imo, superior aswell, it really stands out.

I finally got a Nexus One, so you can say I am part of BOTH platforms. Every bad assumption I had with Android of being laggy or lacking the essential apps is now gone. My N1 is smoother than my first gen iPhone. I don't need to choose sides here, so why not try them all? Only spent a $100 for it second-hand and it works great. The guy who sold it to me said it was his fav phone of all-time, but his company had to switch to a CDMA carrier. No issues with the power button or touch sensitive-buttons on the bottom. I bought it far below its current market value, that if I do get bored with it, I can always sell it back months later and get my money back. Like a free trial with FULL cash refund that can last months if not years. The original BlackBerry Bold is even older and that still sells for over $100 used.

Yeah, I know the Nexus One is nearly two year old phone but it is lag-free. I think once Android went Froyo and Gingerbread, they eliminated ALOT of the lag. Not on all Android phones, per se. My N1 is on 2.3.6 Gingerbead, unlocked, and rooted. And it feels far superior in quality than the Nexus S. Like comparing the original iPhone vs iPhone 3G. I wanted the Samsung Note, but since it might NOT come to the U.S. and Sammy is known to make powerful phones with cheap build quality, I may switch only to HTC or when Motorola starts bringing out their own Nexus phones. For now, I can get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich for dirt cheap and don't have to worry that it only supports the Nexus Prime.

Apple has only ever made about 3 great iPhones based on hardware out of the five generations. The first one and the 4's. The original now has the most unique look after the 4S has cheapened the look of the 4 because they are twins now similar to the iPhone 3's. The 3's success came mostly from the greatness of iOS, so Apple was allowed for incremental updates at the time relative to the competition. From a hardware standpoint, adding 3G, compass, or video camera was no big deal. The original iPhone was the most durable and greatest iPhone of them all just because it was the first and most groundbreaking at the time. It also had the greatest keynote ever.

Thumbs up to BOTH iOS and Android. Both are solid choices with most of the essential apps you need.

Just remember, Nexus One was the first one, about 3 years ago, with only 200mb internal memory and less than 1gz processor.

The Nexus S came with 1gb internal memory and 1gz processor. So, it's a big difference!!

Now the Prime will come with, OMG!!! Speechless!!!

All Nexus versions came AKA "iPhone killers"...

I said before, you can't beat iFashion!

I don't buy knock off's or sub par products so the Android OS and all the junk knock off phones aren't for me.

It's funny though, all these years and the developers and manufacturers still can't get it right. They can copy the packaging to a 'T' and some of Apples well thought out accessories and get away with the thieving but that's it.

Anything requiring thought, design, innovation, quality, service it's coming from Apple NOT the knock off's.

Galaxy SII, HTC offerings, Nexus, Blackberry's, Windows computers .... I've experienced those frstrations, I prefer to use and enjoy all my electronics. Apple makes that possible.

After years of ignorance I learned my lessons and I'm not going back. Apple has earned my respect, I'm a fan boy because, for my needs, they make the best products by FAR.

Based on your comments you would be best to stick with apple products. I get bored easily and like to mix things up. For me its about variety.

Some people come to the world to innovate and change concepts...

Steve Jobs came with excellent idea that change the whole world (and charged thousands of dollars for his idea and followers) making Apple customers like slaves...

Larry Page came with another great idea, that also change the whole world: Make everything on the Internet FREE, giving freedom to the people who follow him...

The world will see when Google start putting its FREE OS in computers... Thats what Larry did with Smartphones...

The world has changed. No one wants to be slave of any OS... Actually, some people like to continue slaves...

BTW, I love my MacBook Pro i7!

Aren't you the same kid telling everyone they were slaves to ifashion?? If you truly think Google is a magnanimous (look it up) company wanting to free you you're going to be in for a big shock kiddo.
