iPod touch iJailBreak Released!

Ok, tried it again... this time im getting the same error message as onibakushinka...

sh: line 1: ./iphuc: cannot execute binary file (126)

Gonna restore it again now...

If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated!

well after some tinkering about and hours of hopelessness the one you posted for PowerPC seemed to work up to the SSH point. i do not know how or why but eventually after 3 restores and multiple headaches it has gotten to a point where it copies the rdisk0s1 with no problem makes it a dmg then has you restart the ipod for the next step.

also i may be delirious but i believe at this point if i am not mistaken the ipod touch is jailbroken.

so this is what it is stuck at now .

any thought would be again greatly appreciated BTW i am still using my PowerPC mac mini

If it has indeed done all of that then it is *almost* jailbroken... all it needs to do next is copy over the modified fstab to the image it pulled off the iPod, then put that image back on the iPod before it can start installing things.

If you get it to the point where iTunes is showing the fs as 300MB then it is *completely* jailbroken, and all that is left to do is install ssh/sftp, installer.app, trip1pogostick, and a modified M68AP.plist... then put the filesystem back to normal and its done.

Looks like this one was my fault though, I replaced the iphuc in the iphuc folder with the ppc version... but not the one in the ssh folder 8)

Does ANYONE know how to fix this problem? At this point I've given up on the idea since it seems hopeless on my imac. I have a PC at work I could try it on, but from reading the PC thread on gizmodo that looks WAY more buggy than the mac version.

Please help, anyone!!!

P.S. after I turn the ipod off with the red slider and turn it back on itunes opens thinking there is a new, unknown ipod connected. I quit it immediately, but is this the problem? I can quit the program in activity monitor, but won't it just boot back up when the ipod is connected? it wasn't open before either.

well it was jail broken and oddly enough.. but i manually did the rest and it worked fine.


since you made the new one i will go ahead and restore my hacked ipod touch and try it out to see if this version works :) bb in a bit

Hi all,

just downloaded the jailbreak newest version, but it's not working at all for me. It wont open with the installer, says it's not supported on my system even though i have Macbook Pro 2.16GHz intel duo. I put all into my apps folder but jailbreak doesn't seem to realise it's there as it keeps asking me to copy into app folder!

any theories appreciated!!? help!
 
Does the PowerPC version cause you to loose music/video on your iPod? I did it manually a few days ago and lost everything. I assume no from the other posts. In essence, when you sync to iTunes, does it show the capacity of your iPod and contents or does it remain at 300mb?

Thanks to everyone working on this. I have no idea what I'm doing and appreciate everything! Great job
 
OK, it is sitting in my Apps folder. What can I expect when it is finished? What I mean: Do I need to add apps to it after it is broken? Is there any other hacking to do?

It shouldn't... if all goes well, when the jailbreak is done it should restore the filesystem to the way it was before it started...
 
ok, so I now have all iPhone apps working...

Installed the nes emulator, just need to find some roms, cant think that will be a problem...

This is amazing... Let's just hope apple doesnt add an update thats gonna make it worth breaking it.

And on that note, I have LittleSnitch installed so that I can tell if iTunes wants to connect to the interenet, im presuming that as long as i deny its permission I should be ok with using iTunes even after a "update" is released?

iTunes will never install an update without you telling it to (It will inform you when one is available and give you the option of downloading and not installing, installing, or ignoring).

And before updating it is important to restore first, just in case right?
 
ok, thanks... will keep that all in mind...

I feel more excited now, then when i got the touch in the first place! :)

I think im a bit sad really, oh well, sad but happy!

I'm trying to jailbreak my touch using iJailBreak. I've restored the ipod to start from scratch. At the step where I'm told to power-off using the slider and restart, the touch is stuck on the apple logo. Occasionally, the timer dial (like when powering off) appears under the logo. It will flash off and restart to the same screen over and over. Any idea what that is all about??

Thanks for covering support while I was at school/doing homework. Tonight I will release 0.3 with iPhone apps and powerpc support among other things.

Just posting to say thanks for ijailbreak. Looking forward to the iPhone apps. iPhone without the phone :)

Just to add to what other people say, Don't let this hacking stuff get in the way of your school work, we can all wait, school can't LOL

Nicework... too busy now with midterms to play with more apps... but it is jailbroken and ready for them whenever get around to it!

ooo i was gonna just gonna jailbreak my touch now but i think ill wait just for the iphone apps. I really have no idea when it comes to terminal!
 
i know why it freezes during instalation

make sure your ipod is NOT LOCKED!

set the slide lock to NEVER
 
summerboard is causing docking issues

seems as if when u install summerboard, everything gets docked to the top, i dont know why, any ideas on how to help?:confused:
