Well her style has garnered a huge following and changing her recipe, would impact that. So she would gain a few new members from MacRumors, but she would lose some of her dedicated followers.

Her style may not be for everyone, but it seems the hate/attacking goes beyond her presentation style.

for me, If I don't like a video, or a vlogger, I just move on another channel instead of attacking her on a tech forum ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Couldn't agree more.

There is no such thing as the perfect YouTuber, some I just can't stand, so I don't watch them, simple.

Others I enjoy but have irritating moments but I'd argue you have to be a certain type of personality to gain that many followers, and at times you're not always going to strike the right chord with everybody.

I'd do great at YouTubing phone reviews, but I'm boring to listen to and I have a "face for radio" so regardless of how technical and informative I was, I doubt I'd get many followers!

I don't read/watch anything from iMore because its so pro-apple that you really don't get a good review. The back bends Ritichie does to justify failings is mind boggling
Apologies, I was quoting the “cute blond” post which must have been deleted. Or I forgot to actually quote it :D

Any place but here or there....
If I watch tech reviews on YouTube it is

MKBHD
Mobile Tech Review
and
Dave 2D

It is rare though, except when I want to learn about new computers with little fuss. Like Apple trying to make their stores social places, not for me.

Tell me how the product performs, how you use it and who it is good for. Easy. Any kind performance for the camera or overbearing style is not my thing.

I was subscribed to her channel for a little a while back, but grew tired of her overly Pro-Apple gushing, so ditched it.

Spotted a hands-on from the recent keynote show up in my YouTube feed, so decided to check it out & she was unbearable...'I love the gold, omg...'.

Fan bois/girls on any side have no place in my YouTube feed...

My opinion:

Objective reviewers:

- Mr Mobile (Michael Fisher)
- Quinn Nelson (SnazzyLabs)
- Flossy Carter
- TechnoBuffalo

Neutral (reviews are not that opinionated) and gets down to technicalities:

- Detroitborg

Slightly pro-apple and doesn’t call out Apple for glaring mistakes:

- MKBHD
- iJustine

Just plain pro-Apple:

- The Verge
- iMore (Rene Ritchie)

I don’t watch Johnathan Morrison or others enough to know their attitude towards Apple.
MKBHD is not pro Apple in the slightest. He always calls out their mistakes and price!! In his latest XS Max video he has a go for Apple not including a fast charger. I always see him as leaning towards the Android side of things.

People don't go to iJustine for reviews, they want to see a high quality overview of a product they are going to buy anyway.
At least she stopped with the insane misrepresentation that she actually waits on line with the losers for her phone.
I used to cringe when she would post the "I hope I get a phone" or "I lost my phone", etc.
This is a girl who has an Apple Vending machine in her house that gets replenished by the hour.

For me, if you want an honest review with someone who has a good relationship with Apple, watch the Marquese Brown (sp) review.

I think Zollotech is one of the best and most objective Apple (and other tech - he uses Android and Surface Pro if I'm not mistaken) reviewers. Does thorough reviews of OS and beta versions as well and was really hard on Apple because of the MacBook Pro overheating issue. Not as pretty as iJustine but he has a different audience. That said I like her as well she has a particular audience and also covers other issues.
Pure child, grab your popcorn, lol, same thing as everythingapplepro. Sorry i was wrong, thinking of zoneoftech, zollotech is alright.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I just wonder how daft some people are, because these big You Tubers live rather lavish lifestyles, yet their entire business is based on a platform that as far as I know could literally be taken down one day and their is nothing the could do about it?

Some have offices and staff, they literally run as businesses. But I guess no gain without risk?

I like a few of them, some are just annoying though, or full of it..

I actually first found her when looking at a review of the Surface Go. Her reviews are all in the same vein. She is excited (or is scripted to be) by the tech product in front of her. While I don’t really care for her style of review - it is refreshing to see someone enjoy whatever they are using. More power to her. Best thing about YT is that it is super easy to change the channel.

Unbox Therapy has like 12 million subscribers. ***** on her 5 million and he doesn't have review units.

Why would they want to send a review unit to a guy who reviews tech with the headline almost always being "Product X - DOES IT SUCK?" with a picture of him giving off the impression that it does.

He as a schtick and it might be something that appeals to a lot of people (his subscriber count is indicative of that), but I don't fault Apple PR 1 second for refusing to send him stuff.

I don’t think having the iPhone since first release should be some barometer. I’m sure there’s thousands on here who can say they bought every iPhone.

The issue I have is she offers nothing constructive and is the ultimate arse kisser. Reviews should always be subjective. Her reviews are just marketing, which doesn’t sit right with me.
She has millions of subscribers and whilst I don't really find her reviews that good she's going to put a positive spin on the phone. That's what Apple want after all. Unbox therapy has shown himself to be very anti Apple. I don't see what the point of sending him the phone would be. He will only say it's rubbish, too expensive and tell people to buy the one plus 6.

Apple don't want subjectivity. They want someone who is going to praise the product and that's exactly what iJustine will do.

Let’s face it, iJustine is beautiful, Add that into a free iPhone for her to review because of her strong following, people naturally going to flock to her channel. As someone else said, it’s free marketing for Apple either way you look at this through a *massive* audience with YouTube.
They gave one to Karlie Kloss too. It's marketing 101.

first few times she really looks excited for new gadgets especially anything Apple, but after a few video's you see she's Soooo excited, and can't wait, and don't forget the "Omygod's"
for everything she does, and most think it's nice, because breasts.
but if she would tone down the "less then genuine" excitement, it would be much better to watch :)
That's her persona, that's what's made so successful. She's not going to tone it down.

Look at flossy carter his persona is acting like a gangsta, Austin Evans has his geeky/idiot like persona. It works for them.

MKBHD is a stock android fan and he openly says this however I think his reviews are generally quite balanced.

So there are other companies out there that want people reviewing and crapping on their products?

And it's not like she got the only review unit. They gave a bunch to the Youtube crowd, but regular media outlets like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, The Guardian, etc. I don't think any of those would (or should) have their objectivity questioned.

Also unbox therapy did the whole bend gate thing with iPhone 6 which Apple really didn’t like

iJustine is has fun reviews and she had a massive following but when it comes to tech she’s not very knowledgeable. Can’t argue with that following though - she’s one of the biggest YouTubers out there.
I don’t think she claims to know it all. She’s just doing her thing. She likes tech and reviews it in her own way. Apple have never been all about specs anyway so she fits in with that.

No but Apple have been known to blacklist people for consistently giving them negative reviews. They will lean towards reviewers who have given them fair/positive reviews in the past.

There’s nothing wrong with it. It makes sense. Who would send their devices to people who are going to trash them?

Ok everythingapplepro then?

Surely he can’t hate Apple. Unboxtherapy is usually critical of everything. Which is refreshing then listening to yes people like MKHD and ijustine. I rather listen to someone who is saying what they truly feel then someone just hyping it up. If you tell someone to review the product they need to be honest about it.

MKBHD is pretty objective. He'll call Apple out on BS, and he uses Android pretty regularly as well.

His daily driver is an android phone. He does say what he thinks. He tells you if he thinks the phone is worth getting. Last year he said don’t get the iPhone 8/8 plus and wait for the X. This heat he said the x to Xs isn’t a worthy upgrade but he was positive about the max and said he thought it was a good phone.

He’s used a pixel as his daily driver for years but recently made a video complaint of it getting slow.

If you think UnboxTherapy being critical of every single thing being "refreshing" and MKBHD is "yes people" then your scale is wildly different than most people. iJustine on the other hand is surely unofficial Apple PR.

A review can lean towards one side or the other and still be 100% honest as long as the reviewer makes it obvious about their preferences and choices. Value of any product after all is highly subjective based on your use cases.
