Having been proven so spectacularly wrong and seeing a keynote where Animoji now have a , I’m not even going down this rabbit hole again.
It’ll be out when they feel like it. I don’t understand or claim to interpret any rational Apple strategy anymore.
iPad Pro bezelless, ARM MacBook/Mac Mini, iMac upgrades, MBP revamp, modular Pro there’s seemingly a lot in the pipeline but without even a sneak peek at WWDC? Let’s be happy with putting makeup on memojis and look at the dark theme on macOS.
My Dear Comrades ! Do not get Disheartened ! Life may have upheavals but it is not impossible to tread through, have hope and you may see sunlight at the end of the tunnel. For shall come a day when the Sun will again gloriously shine over us, that would be the day we all will hold God's Gift (Or should I say Apple's Gift) to Mankind which would be the iPad Pro X. September is usually iPhone watch headphones etc. October for laptops and iPad ?
Which to ME makes zero sense. I mean there are a lot of kids going to university in September. I’d think you want to catch them and get them applified.
Competition isn’t standing still. Windows 10 isn’t bad. Some of the hybrids and convertibles dona lot more and cheaper than a iPad Pro + OSX combo. Surface Pro for example. Good laptop. Not so good tablet, but pop it into a dock in your down and you can attach a huge monitor.

At the end of the day this is just tech. We all have gadgets that work perfectly fine. It’s fun to discuss and speculate only because it’s my hobby. Way way more things in the world to get bent out of shape about.
Everbody is sounding so hopeless as if everyone of them, of course including me is kind of looking an oasis in desert, Apple has made us that desperate in this waiting game...Damn Apple !!
Any precedence of HW releases in Nov? Might make sense, gets the holiday season. It'll be expensive so perhaps the Back to School crowd isn't the target.
MAYBE at the iPhone event we see a processor bump in the existing 10.3/12.9 chassis for the uni crowd, and an ipad X announcement with shipping in Nov, eh?
They do need a WOW factor at the iPhone event. The new X is going to be mostly like the current one with a price drop. X+ is a bigger X .. possible split screen/pencil support. The budget 6.1 is a stripped down X. No radical watch changes except taking out the bezels so you get 15% more screen space. Announcing a radically different iPad Pro would definitely get the crowd buzzing..

Did they do a 'One more thing..'? If they didn't, wouldn't it be great if they suddenly announced something on the last day of WWDC...

The problem with all this secrecy is how are we to make an informed buying decision ?
I got burnt with the crappy iPad 3 just before the vastly superior iPad 4 came out , don't want this to happen when I buy an iPad Pro !

At this point you need to hold off until September before plonking down that kind of cash.
Or go to a plan B. Pick up a basic 329 iPad and a pencil. Use it with no buyers remorse for an entire year and upgrade next June. Resale hit on a cheap 329 machine (percentage wise) shouldn’t be that bad.

I think an explanation is in order... My purpose for being a stickler about how we present our wishes and speculations is because, believe it or not, people come to this forum looking for guidance and assistance. Many do so by lurking... never signing up and signing in, but just browsing the threads. We'll never know who did that. If they go away thinking that our speculations are actual fact (easy to conclude when we state them forcefully and unequivocally) they can make poor decisions.
The ultimate responsibility for their decisions rest with themselves, but I don't want to be a contributing factor to that ill decision.
This is a vibrant community with lots of zeal and creativity. I think it is important to keep in mind that others are watching us.

Excellent point. I'll definitely be less emphatic when speculating. LIke you said, easy to forget that someone may skim a thread and come to a false conclusion. We go on and keep discussing, a lurker may not. Seeing 'join date 2002' by my name, it's easy to assume I know more than I actually do

Calling it now one software event one hardware event per year. Still don’t think Face ID iPad coming this year, they will need a ton of those sensors for the new iPhones.
August/September is usually just iPhone. At the very least, be prepared to wait until October/November for new iPads (iPad 4, Air, Air 2, 2015 Pro were all released Oct/Nov).
Resale hit on a $329 iPad percentage-wise is bad ($100 is almost 30%) but in terms of absolute dollars, not so much. It's definitely a good option for a "disposable" iPad. If one does not need the Pencil, there's also the 2017 iPad.
Personally, at this point in time I wouldn't want to spend $$$ on a 2017 iPad Pro. They're okay if you find a good deal and you know you won't regret not waiting for a newer model, though.
A little off topic but is Apple Watch Series 4 expected in September? I have a Series 0 but Apple pulled support for it, so I am somehow restraining myself from getting S3. I hate owning unsupported hardware lol
Should be. Check around. I saw an article, rumored, that bezels would be reduced giving you around 15% more screen space.
To kill support after 3yrs angers me alot as I have a stainless steel apple watch and band 0.
The iphone X did not impress me as a 7+ user and caused eye strain and migraines. The colour shift was truly awful.
Now no new IPP or MBP when I'm tablet and laptop free I'm questioning what I'm waiting for with Apple? Why I'm holding on to the idea Apple makes the best tech in its chosen areas with so many recent misteps.
I'm frustrated and the idea of changing camps does not appeal as Apple has shown the market that the price can keep going up and people will pay. So the competition raised its prices but in my heart I know the quality and support is not as good/reliable. I'm entrenched and I don't like it.
The Watch support felt really bad to me as well. For a wearable whose only task is physical fitness and notifications and which costs as much as an iPad it should get at least 5 years of support. To top it off I bought mine a year late so it was 400 bucks for just 2 year support. That's why I am not getting the S3. At this point its only got 2 years left.

They will use the September even for Macs and the 3 iPhones. Note they have to distribute the keynote between 3 iPhones so it will take a lot more time

I disagree.
Units of iPad pro sold is trivial compared to the total iPhone sales. They have had a year to ramp up the supply for faceid sensors. It shouldn’t be holding them back now.

That’s possible. Or they could simply announce it along side the iPhone. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of changes compared to the X other than maybe 3 lens camera? If they want to they can easily fit it in.
November is a possibility too because it would allow them more time to make the A12x.
I feel obligated to eat my words. I predicted WWDC in a couple of threads and based on the rumors I saw, I was pretty convinced it was going to happen. I'm not shocked that iPad Pros were released, I just thought there was an extremely good chance. That being said, I am shocked that noting was released. I also thought the software-based changes they provided were extremely underwhelming, except for dark mode.
It's good that IOS 12 will focus on performance as well. Hopefully reliability will improve significantly as well. Overall though, I'm not finding Apple to be nearly as interesting as they were like 10 years ago. I fell asleep when I streamed the keynote, LOL.

I think a lot of us where convinced it would happen, especially since there were a bunch of recent registrations in the Eurasian Economic Commission database.
Or perhaps the demand and incentives for iPad leaks -compared to iPhone- aren’t worth the risks.
