You might well be right. Kind of a coin toss for me now.

From what you saw did he say they MIGHT announce it or they WILL? it's all about the wording with these guys. Mark Gurman said iPad Pro and Mac's are in the works but for later this year.

The store is still online so that probably means no new hardware announcements (that are available for preorder or shipment soon at least), might be a preview of an upcoming product like the Mac Pro.

It would be astonishing if Apple were able to announce new iPad Pros today that would be launching imminently - having seen no supply chain leaks at all.

What’s imminently? I’ve heard Q3 a few times. September is in Q3, a whole 3 months away and would make it in time for back to school.

Imminent = within the next few weeks.

Why would they pre-announce new iPad Pros that wouldn't be available for 3 months? That wouldn't be good for sales of current models if everyone waits around for the new iPads Pros.

I’m losing track of where I said this, too many threads. They’d announce to STOP people from just going with the 329 basic iPad with pencil since it’s good enough for most folk.

Frankly, everybody knows there’s something coming. Nobody is walking into an Apple store blind and picking up an iPad Pro. Sales of current models will slow down anyway. At least announcing something preempts a shift to the cheap iPad, or a move away completely to the Surface series.

We’ll know in a few hours. All speculation anyway. Just some ideas to throw around.

Yep its still online on my end..if they were to announce new hardware the store would have already been closed at this point right?

Looks like it’s neither hardware NOR software. An hour in and we’re looking at effing animoji with tongues out and a makeup cartoon thing? Apples officially lost it. Workflow looks decent but dayumn! One hour at WWDC for gimmicks. I’d be pissed if I was a developer who’s in for 5 grand and more for this conference.

Yeah maybe I'm getting too old but I haven't really liked any of these new suggestion/personalization features they keep on adding. Photos/messages/etc. really needs a stripped down "dumb" mode, I don't know why Apple is forcing this stuff down our throats.

My iPhone is now pretty much only my camera / iPod/ Notification Center for the Watch. I do love the Apple Watch! Serious work and phone use is on the blackberry keyone. Bit of a hassle but I’m back to using two phones again. Seems like iOS is catered to 12 year olds.

I agree. Plus I'm kind bummed at having to wait for a new iPad. My gen 1 12.9 still works great but I bought it on launch day 2015. While not horribly long, I'm still not replacing an iPad with one that looks exactly the same. Thats why I hate replacing black suits... They look the same...

Apple has alot of hardware to announce in September/October... basically all they announced so far was the cheap ipad and homepod, still waiting for MBP, MBA, IMac, Iphones, Ipads, Airpower, and possibly updated airpods and apple pencil.

I'm gutted! I was really, really, hoping for new pros. A friend is also waiting for a new mac...

Does anyone have any great ideas when they might announce things? I was hoping they'd do something this week, but it seems unlikely now. I really want a 12.9 or larger but can't buy year old tech...

No one knows for sure. The conventional "wisdom" said that the new Pros would be here today at WWDC or in October. My unconventional hunch is March 2019, with the possibility of a processor bump to the existing models in Oct. I don't know if my March 2019 hunch is correct, but my belief that none would be arriving at WWDC was. :)

You’re looking at September the earliest. If not, could also be March of 2019. No one knows but Apple.

But there has been zero leaks of any new iPads down the pipe line with thin bezels and Face ID.

So I’m thinking not sooner but later unfortunately.

“Today is All About Hardware”

With Tim’s Today is all about Software statement today. That opens the door for a soon “Hardware event”

But when ?

When is the next Apple Event besides a September new IPhone Event ?

What’s missing.

New A12X MacBook
New A12X MacMini
New iPad Pros
New Beats Speaker
New Laptops

There’s a Big Event needed And soon. Case in point 6 Core CoffeLake Laptop Sales Are through the roof. Vs MacBook Pro are nonexistent. Because everyone is waiting for CoffeLake Macbook Pros.

Yeh. You did call this one and were consistent. I guess the rest of us were simply hoping. But I did (this thread or some other ?) that if nothing happened I’d come back and acknowledge I was wrong. Here ya go, “I was wrong” ‍♂️

March 19, again I hope not but I’m not betting anymore. I’m the guy who said 45 wouldn’t win the primaries and then doubled down and said the election was impossible. And here we are ...

Will make do with my thinkpad. All I need it to figure out an easy program to edit movies and I’m set for now. I won’t grab a bezeled 12.9, will just wait it out. It’s not as essential purchase right now.

I'm going to be the devil's advocate and say that the lack of hardware is a good thing. Apple's hardware is already at its zenith, what they've been lacking in recently is stability and performance on the software side, not to mention a lack of really good "pro" level iOS apps.

Focusing on stability and performance at a software level, and bringing iOS apps to the Mac incentivizes developers more to improve the quality and feature set of iOS apps (which should translate to Mac apps easily). This will actually help utilize the already overpowered iPad Pro(s), which in turn drives demand for more powerful and useful iPads. Apple did the right thing - hang tight, I'm sure something for iPads will be announced in September.... you'll also get the A12X instead of an A11X, which cannot be a bad thing.
