Nothing yet. Its September for sure at this point.
I’m going on comments from Phil Schiller and Craig Federighi, whom I’m inclined to believe. However, I couldn’t fault you if you think they are being disingenuous, or outright lying, given today's political climate. How do you know that they "very much want to restore faith in the Macbook line"? I'm not being snarky, but I'm curious as to how you can be so certain?
Do you know, historically, what Macbook sales have been like over the past 3-5 years? Here's a link. It seems pretty steady and not indicative of any troublesome trend. The casual person (who doesn't visit sites like MacRumors) is not aware of most of the issues that are being reported. If they don't experience it themselves firsthand, then they simply keep on keeping on.
High profile YouTubers who have experienced issues with their Mac devices, in the end, said that they'll continue to buy them. What that tells people is that no matter how bad the situation is, the alternatives (in their opinion) are worse.
That's unlikely because iPhone X leaks continue unabatedPossibly. But could also be the result of Apple’s recently announced plan to crackdown on leakers. Guess we’ll find out for sure Monday.
That gets the holiday shopping season but loses back to school. Plus, I can't see anyone buying current IPP at all for the next 5 months if they know something new is coming. Lot of money to leave on the table. The first rumors from Ming did specifically say Q3. July/Aug/September … Don't see why it couldn't actually be WITH the phones. It isn't an exciting redesign year like 2017 and the X. There will be a new X, a big X and then the 'low cost' 6.1 … all pretty much looking the same. Maybe the revolutionary, magical, redesigned, bezelless will be the star of the show. Can’t see new iPads in September same as the iPhones
Maybe November is more likely
Fair enough. But I know that executives would never come out and say, "Look guys, we're just milking this thing for all it's worth."I’m going on comments from Phil Schiller and Craig Federighi, whom I’m inclined to believe. Apple doesn't want the iPhone to be overshadowed. It's their primary moneymaker. Unveiling the A12 and simultaneusly unveiling the A12X makes the iPhone look bad. I am getting October or next March. That gets the holiday shopping season but loses back to school. I went back and forth a lot. 12.9 is great for work and for my planned movie projects. Too unwieldy as a tablet. 10.5 is good as a tablet not so good for work. So I decided that I’d go with the 10.5 as a middle ground.
Buuut, sitting on the couch one evening I realized even the 10.5 is too large for browsing or reading etc. I use my X for most of those things, kindle fire 8.9 is my reader and I can’t see myself reading on a 10.5 inch screen.
So why compromise? I’m going for the largest IPP available and let it do what it’s good at. Will wait for a mini and let that be my reader browser emailer etc.
If the mini goes away, the upcoming surface andromeda mobile device is very intriguing.
The right tool for the job at hand. I can’t repkace my laptop with a 10.5 IPP and won’t even bother trying
I’d pay an obscene amount of money for a mini pro with pencil support. Don’t even need edge to edge. Just the same physical chassis size. It’s perfect for true mobile use. Loved the heck out of my mini 2 before I gave it away. Two finger typing is just as convenient as a phone.I came to pretty much the exact same conclusions and got a 12.9 ipp + mini combo awhile back. They’re both the most optimal devices available for their respective jobs. A middle ground device would just be too much of a compromise for my purposes.
I’m quoting my own comment from the article about Gurman’s predictions that there will be no new iPad at WWDC:
“I still believe the next gen iPad Pro will show up at this year’s WWDC. Here are my reasons:
1. Well, it’s been a year so it’s about time.
2. If it doesn’t get upgraded now then it’ll be September, and obviously the next gen iPhone will come with A12 chip, but it’s be odd if the iPP that launches alongside the A12-equipped iPhone comes with A11X.
3. Or it might be equipped with A12X if and when it launches alongside the next gen iPhone, but Apple has never skipped the AP gen for the iPad so far (Since the iPad 2, AP’s on the iPad models have been A4->A5X->A6X->A7->A8X->A9X->A10X).”

And no, a 7+ or an X or even the new x+ does NOt replace a mini. It’s the 4x3 form factor.
There was an inteogieing theory in another thread I’ll have to dig it up. If the 9.7 goes bezelless you have a decide with the physical size of the mini. If the mini goes edge edge and gets a wee bit larger, you get a 9.7 inch screen.
Like I said I’m ok with 7.9. It’s the form factor and size that’s perfect. Your 12.9 and mini combo is fantastic! Exactly what I want except I’d prefer the 12.9 to lose some bezels and get a little smaller. I may cave and get a mini 4 if I see a good deal. In the next 3 months we should know what mini plans are.
My OPINION only is that the old body 9.7 stays at 329 with the home button. iPad SE if you will and at some point we will have a mini sized 9.7 Pro, the 11.5 inch iPad X and MAYBE the larger 12.9 either goes bezelless or, edge to edge for a 14” screen.
Whether it’s Sep or Oct as you suggest, all my three points remain valid.Or they hold an October event like in previous years and announce the iPad Pro and new Mac's there.
I’m on the phone and it’s too tough to search and quote etc. Take a quick look at the iPad form abiut halfway down. Or click on my name and see what I’ve posted in. There was a thread, based on some rumors and then confirmed that the A11 series was being skipped and going straight to A12/A12X. Other than that, yeah, your points are valid. It’d be iinteresting though if they started putting powerhouse chips in the iPad pros and the less powerful but better battery optimized version in the phones. How much raw power do you really need in a phone anyway? They can already handle anything you throw at it. (I know I know gates’s Comment about never needing more than 640k memory) don’t take it to That extreme but the A12 should be plenty for the phone. A12X in iPad because it’s larger and has a bigger battery.Whether it’s Sep or Oct as you suggest, all my three points remain valid.
I’m beginning to think you & others are right about the ipad pros. Unlike phones, there isn’t a lot of pressure coming from other tablet makers for Apple to update the ipad pros every year. I also don’t think Apple will want to take attention away from the new iphones in September. So i’m also thinking if no ipad pros are announced at wwdc, then it will be either in Oct/Nov or in <gulp!> March. I hope sooner than later cause i really need an ipad pro and would rather nab one of the new radically redesigned bezel-less ipad pros that are being rumored about.
