Is the 5700 (not XT version) experiencing any glitches? Aside from the white lines it seems to be free from.

Nooooooooooooo! I would have lost my mind.Did it come with door dings and windshield wipers that would go on/off intermittently, even when it wasn't raining?
Read thread. 5700 has no white horizontal lines. Is the 5700 (not XT version) experiencing any glitches? Aside from the white lines it seems to be free from.

I have an i7 with the 5700, and I appear to have the squared corners. See attachments. It took some effort to reproduce these effects. The dark mode features System Preferences; the light mode Mail. So far I have not seen the white line, but I've changed my background to solid black and will report back if the white line pops up.Is the 5700 (not XT version) experiencing any glitches? I purchased the new iMac right when it was released, Maxed it out with the nano glass and all the bells and whistles. Mac came in (Loved the mac) but then noticed the glitching.. I contact apple right away (first week) and told them of the issue, (this was back in late August) and they said this is the first they heard of the issue and that would be tracking any issues with the newer model... They are sending a new one, which i should receive on 9/16/2020. If the new one has the same issue, i will send it back and just get a refund. As much as i love the apple products i have a 2019 i can use here as well.
The outcome that everyone ultimately wants is a mac that works glitch free. Im hopeful that the replacement will be fine, but if not it goes back. I am not paying 5k for machine that has an issue with no root cause identified. Hopefully when the issue is ironed out i can repurchase the new iMac..
If i knew it was SW for sure then i would just keep it with the expectation a fix would soon be out, but right now whether it is HW or SW no one really knows.. I feel it is safer to just refund it until it has been acknowledge and fixed by apple.
Oh my that’s ugly. SMH. C’mon Apple, don’t leave Catalina like this. I have bad feeling that’s what is going to happen.I have an i7 with the 5700, and I appear to have the squared corners. If what you’re saying has any merit, it would mean this is a HW issue and not SW. HW ‘might’ affect ‘some’ units if it’s a batch issue (which I highly doubt). SW would affect ‘all’ units (which is much more likely).I have three 2020 iMacs i9 5700xt and so far no issues on any of them. We do a lot of photoshop and video editing daily.
All three were different orders so guessing different build batches. Wondering how big an issue this is percentage wise. Got some friends with this problem so hoping it is a software issue

I’m not convinced they even do QC anymore. Apparently that’s our job. There is no “assurance“. ?♂️How frustrating. This is tipping me into buying an insane PC build, but just how on earth did this pass Apple QA - completely dropped the ball.

It appears shipping times are slipping on these machines. Even the base i7 27” which has typically been ‘in stock’. This is making me a little nervous that we might have a hardware issue here.
Yeah I don’t think they are selling this well. Not enough to delay the base ‘in store’ models.Windows GPU drivers are not immune from driver issues either and Microsoft laid off most of its Windows QC team and replaced them with a public beta program. Windows updates have frequently gone awry and required a complete reinstall of the OS.
Aside from Windows itself, the other problem with a self built PC is when something goes wrong you won't have what some people in IT like to call "a single throat to choke".
Switching platforms over a GPU glitch seems like a huge over reaction to me. Like all the people who left New York City and moved to Florida because of Covid-19.

That or the new iMac is selling well.

Yeah, I don’t think so. Hope you’re right though. That will mean more people to report the issues.Really, why not. Apple is experienced record Mac sales in the last quarter and with so many people working from home the 27" iMac is a particularly attractive option.
Also, Covid has caused some supply constraints for Apple and other tech companies.

If there is indeed a HW issue, yes.You really think it's more plausible that Apple would shut down production of the iMac 27" because of this issue?
Apple reports strong Mac and iPad sales in record-breaking Q3 earnings
Many Apple stores might still be closed, but hardware sales are up.www.theverge.com
And you couldn't even buy a regular 27" iMac in July.

I guess we will all find out. I still hope it is SW and not HW.Not a chance they would do that. Apple didn't shutdown laptop production with the much more serious Butterfly keyboard problems. They shipped laptops with the crappy keyboards for 4 years.

They’d be better off simply swapping out machines if it’s HW. I tend to think it’s SW too, but there’s that small part of me that still worries after seeing some of Apple’s track record. AMD plays a big role in this too. I’m just extremely disappointed Apple didn’t catch this before releasing them.I am 99% confident it is software but if it isn't they can replace the motherboard.
