I do but even before I hooked it up, I didn't see it.
Let us know if you ever unplug it and you do spot the corners issue. The Mail or System Preferences window seem to (for whatever reason) be the easiest ones to reproduce it on (something about the use of transparency in the title bar or toolbar area). Safari, for example, renders its corners fine because the window is built up differently.

I got it, I got it, I got it... ???

It appeared once. Just once. Happened just after doing a heavy encode with handbrake. Very clear. I would definitely have seen this if it happened earlier while looking at the screen.

So I'm standing here to be counted with the rest of you. Will give feedback to apple.

I'm not at a point where I would say that it's a dealbreaker. Given that I had > 2 weeks with the Mac and only saw it once.

If it happens >1/h it would be a different thing. That's also why I'm a bit concerned that it could be hardware related and will increase in frequency with time.

I guess only time will tell. Happy to have 2 years of guarantee

Can't quite put my finger on it but something about this version of Safari just seems... sharper?

These posts announcing something didn’t happen are tiresome.
Yeah, it really would be nice if something did happen. I, personally, have been waiting for 3 weeks and 6 days. Or, 648 hours. Or, 7.38% of 2020. Man, it is getting tiresome.

Now I've had it 4 times in since yesterday evening. How can I not see this for 14 days at all and see it 4 times in 14 hours? That's scary. Like something got broken

Off topic: Did anyone notice issues with YouTube video playback after installing Safari 14?

No video issues so far in Safari 14 but only watched some Youtube stuff. As far as the white line glitch is concerned, I went an entire day without seeing it and then it happened four or five times in 10 seconds while I was scrolling a web page. When scaling display to any resolution other than default the issue goes away. This points to a possible UI compositing issue or refresh timing issue causing a random "tear" to appear when certain conditions are met.

The square corners in some windows is a clue possibly pointing to a UI compositing issue. The 5700xt had a lot of compositing and glitching problems on the PC side until AMD released new drivers earlier this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple will need AMD's assistance in solving this issue.

Quick question... Did everyone experiencing this issue also upgrade to 3rd party RAM?

I have one of the beasts that is doing this, which has led to some deeper reflection on my order and the conclusion that I’m going to send it back to the fruit company.

I think the graphics capabilities of Apple Silicon are going to quickly make the duct-taped GPU in this thing look like yesterday’s news.

Our Intel Macs are poised to be a novel part of the Mac lineup for years, but I don’t think they are going to be particularly relevant or even all that powerful in comparison to what is to come. Intel CPUs are a one trick pony that depends on every other third party component playing nicely together. Compare that to Apple’s SoCs, as they grow in leaps and bounds year over year.

I love the i7 in my machine, but it is married to a questionable video card made by a vendor that can’t be bothered to write decent drivers.

If I depended on producing video for my livelihood, I would probably just suck it up and stick with the 5700xt, but I don’t. I really just need this thing for music production and wanted to dabble in video editing. From looking at Max Tech’s videos, the T2 chip does a lot of the heavy lifting with encoding anyway.

I had the issue when running the stock 8GB RAM before my Crucial RAM arrived. Used it on stock RAM for about a week.

Also, I've noticed the lines mostly when scrolling web pages too. Wonder if it's due to higher screen scrutiny while reading the active webpage.

I'm in the same boat. Thanks to everybody for sharing here. To those who think this is some really nit-picky behavior of people who have no real work to do: I have to disappoint you.

I do need to get real work done - which is the core of the problem. I now have to send the iMac back and will have a few days without a large monitor. This is costing me real money!
What is more troubling to me is that I do not really know what to do next. I have a 2018 13" MBP as a backup that I would love to connect to a high ppi 32" monitor. Problem is - the only option is the XDR (can no longer work with text non-retina), which does not work with the 2018 model.
No, I do not want a convoluted eGPU setup. I want simplicity with high ram, CPU and a decent GPU.

Again, I am not nit-picky. But getting a "white flash" every now and then is just not acceptable. It distracts me. In particular given the 27" were a compromise in the first place.

Would love to hear from our little self-help group here what those who send back do next - and ideally get recommendations for myself out of it.

I am looking at getting a 2019 iMac, since I already purchased my RAM for the 2020 and it is backward compatible with the 2019.

If I can find one with an i9 and a fusion drive, I’ll replace the blade SSD and replace the mechanical HDD with a SATA SSD.

These machines are actually pretty easy to work on, once you get past the weirdness of cutting off the display. Make sure to get a decent kit to stick the display back on.

Trying to figure out a safest option to pick for my new order - is the corner glitch happening only with 16GB 5700XT's or also on 5500XT & 5700 8GB?

I booted mine with stock RAM untouched to start with before installing OWC RAM just to see if it would make a difference. White lines pretty quickly seen in the setup process right out of the box.
