Looks that way. I've been trying to get an order in with a customer service client to no avail.

"As I am checking, it is available today to place the order. However, it isn’t stated any time.
What I can do for you here is that I can note your email and check it time to time. As soon as I see it available to purchase, I can send you an email."

Following an explanation of the Pacific Time release, he said:

"That’s a logical prediction indeed. I am also expecting it to be available before out shift is over today and excited for this new product to be honest."

I asked when his shift finished and he said 15:15 UK time.

It's going to be a long day.

Half expected to see an official release from Apple: in an effort to encourage our professional level users to depart their interests from the legacy desktops, the release of the iMac pro was never actually going to happen. Furthermore, we have discontinued all iMacs & MacBooks & have replaced them with a new enterprise iPad that includes all features of the iPad, but with a picture of an entire Apple to display our entire venture to the business enterprise & as a memorial to the past products. Have a great day!

4 or 5 hours? I have a 5:30 notice & the local store said they were unable to order until 10 am

I would cry at this point if that were to happen: worst nightmare material right there! Learning a whole new NLE would be awful.

I did say that it would be good if the professionals didn't have to stay up through the night to see when the iMac Pro would become available in my response to my customer satisfaction with the service agent. They still love their secrecy, but it's just exhausting and unnecessary for a pro line product. Fair enough for an iPhone, iPad or iPod, but not for a pro spec iMac. Just tell us and we'll give you our money!

Does anyone know if ordering through the business department will net a discount? My phone call to Apple said no while the store said yes. Does anyone have any new release experience?

I have a small business account and can offer some insight. If you qualify for any of Apple’s educational or government discounts, they will honor those prices. Based on past experience, that often adds up to a 6-8% discount on Macs. If you do not qualify for any of those discounts and are looking for a business discount, in most cases you will need to buy multiple units or cross a certain threshold of spending per year. I am a one-person business (I’m a full-time photographer and videographer) so I don’t cross that threshold nor do I know what it is. With that being said though, I have received outstanding support from my local Apple Business Team. They help me by providing personalized and expedited services, and they also provide loaner equipment during any repairs.

That's really impressive! It's great to hear that they look after you so well. I've been considering ordering through the business team. I guess if anything goes wrong, I'll phone the business after sales team and hope for a similarly brilliant experience - full-time wedding videographer here.

Well, it certainly is not available at the beginning of 12/14 Pacific Standard Time. I don’t know why I’m awake at nearly 4am my time and typing this from my iPad while lying in bed, but I rolled over and saw the clock, and thought I would check out the upgrade prices.

I’m not sure I understand Apple’s inconsistent approach on the hourly timing of releases. Oh well, time to get back to sleep. I have a lot of editing work to get done tomorrow, err, today.

Haha. Snap. I think they've done this one quite obviously, but it just didn't click. It should have clicked had I known the New Zealand time for pre-ordering. It's the same time worldwide, but at a time that coincides with the American calendar dates. It's stupid that they haven't included the same calendar appointment for everyone though - literally would have made no difference but would have stopped us from getting up at stupid times to check.

I was told a couple of years back it was £5k, think it's a bit more now, maybe £6k. I keep saying I've done with Apple spending for now so won't cross the threshold in a year and then I do. I've been told by a business team this week that the iMac Pro won't qualify for a business discount until it has been on sale for a few months - that is for somebody only ordering one I imagine, if you want a few I'm sure they'd do a deal.

Totally agree RuffDraft! Why on earth Apple didn’t say 8am PST (or whatever time it will be) is beyond me. Hey, it might be worth your effort to order through your local business team. By the time ordering goes live, it looks like they might be open in your neck of the world. Establishing that relationship with them might be helpful for you. I know it certainly has been for me. I’m super excited that you’re getting one now! I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts after you’ve edited a project or two.

Thanks Bryan. I might give them a call this morning before the iMac Pro goes live.

Definitely. Hopefully it'll be helpful to you if you also do weddings before pulling the trigger in two months or so!

I'm waiting more than anything to find out what the prices for the different tiers are; however what I have noticed, is that there is no mention anywhere of the 14-core version.

I've spent more than $10k on my apple purchases this year lol
What should I do to qualify for a discount as a crazy consumer? :p

Called an Apple Store in Frankfurt.
They said the launch will start at 14:40 German Time.

So in 40 minutes supposedly we will be able to order.

He also mentioned that only internet orders will be available. We won't be able to pick-up from the store.

Like everyone here I'm trying do work, but keeping one eye on the Apple website. I know I can afford the base model for £5K (eek), but am wondering how far I can push it. All of a sudden my desire to drop £6 or £7K has waned significantly... I just wish it was the 'real' Mac Pro, but I've already been waiting since mid-2010 to upgrade!

Why in the world the time range for the order? 5:30 to 8:30 AM??? Do they discontinue the iMac pro at 8:31AM??? Do they release the modular Mac at 8:31 AM?
