My iMac got to Anchorage, AK at 11.32am this morning. Anyone have any idea how long it takes to clear customs??

The FedEx pages says my delivery is slated for Monday, but I'm hoping for a Saturday delivery....but it'll probably have to go from Anchorage to Memphis and then back to the west coast (San Diego)....

My iMac reached Anchorage at 7PM Et last night. Mine didn't clear customs until it reached Indianapolis. FWIW, it took 27 minutes between the arrival scan and customs scan, and then 2 hours 52 minutes before it was marked as leaving Indianapolis... and then it was scanned in Clevleand at 19 minutes later (which would mean that the package flew faster than the speed of sound). My guess is that the time is either one time zone off or the marked time was not the actual scan time. (Perhaps when it was marked as leaving Indianapolis was really when the plane landed in Ohio.)

At any rate, my iMac had a delivery attempt a few minutes ago -- with an estimated date of 8/27.

Damn, let me know if it shipped today!

If mine ships late, I am going to call Apple and ask for free expedited shipping...

I ordered this computer for college and I really wanted it before my classes start.
Not good news. I woke up this morning expecting my order status to change to shipped, but instead I received this email from Apple...

Not just a few days, but a whole week and a day longer! I called this morning and they did up me from standard shipping to 3-5 day shipping. They mentioned it would take at least that long to reach me from China.:(

My 24" 2.8 system was also supposed to ship yesterday (it changed to prepared for shipment yesterday morning.) Woke up today to find it was now pushed out a week or more. The dates are now:

Z0FC, IMAC 24/SD
Ships by Aug 31 - Sep 5
Delivers by Sep 5 - Sep 10

Seems like a long deliver time when I paid extra for 2 day shipping. The order was originally made Aug 14th.

Wow, you're an EZ customer. I would have asked for free Applecare. When I ordered my G5 desktop 2 years ago Apple did that to me too. They emailed me saying that the shipping would be delayed so I called them and they offered a free ram upgrade or Applecare or a discount on the price of the machine so I took the reduction in price.
The same happened with my Powerbook, delayed shipping resulted in them offering me a free Brenthaven bag worth $150 U.S. When Apple delays my shipping they are delaying my work (plus excitement) so they should make it worth your while.

Thank you sir.....
After reading your post I gave :apple: a call back and they shaved $100 off my purchase price!:D
$100 for an added week wait is not so bad.

My iMac is almost here. It is at my local FedEx Facility and should be here by the end of the day!

I would definitely call Apple and see if they will do anything to ease the pain ;)

Did you order the stock configuration of the 2.8 or was it CTO?
This definitely doesn't look very promising; however, I just spoke with Apple CS and they said that the CTO orders were the main ones being delayed. I ordered the stock configuration of the 2.8 on 8/18 and it's still supposed to ship 8/27-8/29 so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Paranoia is starting to creep in, though!

Booked for today...

I have not received one of those emails saying that it is going to be delayed, however my status has not been updated since the 15th..

Ship date is 21-24th of aug... So today is the 24th, it's not even prepped.

I'm guessing if it hasn't shipped by Monday I should call and ask WTF is going on.

Why wait until Monday? I would call tomorrow if your status does not change by then.

Are you waiting for a 24"? I was, and my order status showed yesterday as the last expected ship day. I called them this morning and was able to get my original 5-7 day shipping changed to 3-5 days. Also, with advice from a member from this board, was able to take $100 off the purchase price, which btw, was already the edu price.

Hmmm....just noticed that both gvg45 and xamp ordered their 2.8 iMac's on 8/14...and both got delivery delayed by a week. Perhaps there was a glitch with the ordering that day? Any body else who ordered on or around that date having delay issues?

It seems that if Apple was beginning to have problems fulfilling orders due to demand, that the ship dates would change from 5-7 days to a later time frame.

My 2.8 is also Edu. I placed the order on the 11th. TNT said it will be in Wellington this weekend, ready for delivery Monday Morning (it arrived in Auckland today). 17 days from China isn't too bad I guess. Shame I'm going to be out of town till Wednesday and had to have it held till Thursday. :(

ibjoshua

I ordered mine on the 12th. Looks like mine's been caught up in some sort of delay as its still showing as not yet shipped. Oh well, I might try and get a discount like some of the other posters if it turns out to be delayed.

Shame that you won't be there to get it until Thursday.

My 24" iMac looks like it will be in my town (Orlando, FL) by tonight/early tomorrow. I was hopefully of Saturday shipping, but Apple gave me a free 2nd day shipping upgrade due to some issues with my other 20" iMac I sent back. I'm assuming the free shipping comes on M-Saturday and the 2nd day only comes M-F (as posted above and through my own research). I heard some rumblings that I might be able to pick it up on Saturday from FedEx if I can get Apple to give me a waiver to do so. I guess we'll see. I was excited about the free 2nd day shipping at first, now I'm bummed.

I ordered the wireless keyboard and the config in my sig on August 19. Ships Oct 2, Delivered Oct 6.

Well...my new 24" iMac 2.8Ghz has arrived and is up and running!! OMfrikkinG! If I had iChat on right now, you'd all see a huge grin on my face.

I'm completely new to Macs, but I've found my way back to here and managed to get my iMac online (via Airport for now)....now it's time to add my printer and external speakers.

BUT...no dead/stuck pixels, internal speakers sound good enough.....and while the new keyboard will take some getting used to (I had one of those ergonomic MS pieces of junk) the new keyboard feel is GREAT! A ++ to Apple for the setup so far! I need to hone my wireless MM a bit to get it to where I want it to be, but all in all:

Worth the wait!!! :D:eek::rolleyes::p:D

JimmyD
:apple::apple::apple::apple:

(the ONLY negative so far...the wired keyboard cable is a tad short. But an extension isn't hard to get, so I'm not too worried)

I called Apple today to try and figure out why I now had a 7+ day delay on an order that said it was prepared to ship. The rep said that the status was "accurate" but he didn't know why it couldn't ship out. Strange, and it still sounds a bit fishy to me. If the box is complete why can't they put it on the truck/airplane...

The Apple rep was generous and applied a few "good will" gestures to my account. It sucks that the delay occurred, but it seems like Apple at least treated me better than Dell would have.

what were these generous good will gestures?

So I called Apple, today being my last shipping day.

Still no change since the 15th, they claimed that it could change at any minute.

They also claimed it will NOT be delayed if I don't get a delay email -- which i havn't.

I'll wait until Monday (i'm guessing the centre isn't open on Weekends) to call and complain, what's the usual complaint line that people are using to get the free applecare?

Ordered on August 16th:

Ships by: Aug 23 - Aug 27
Delivers by: Aug 31 - Sep 7

Status still to "Not shipped yet"

It's for the 24", 2.8 GHz, with the 500 GB HDD.

I am in Montreal, Canada.

Haha I am in the same situation as you. I have 1 hours until "BINGO" time...

I will call Apple and give them hell tomorrow. See if I can get my self some free Applecare and expedited shipping.
