I found a great great vendor!!

you guys may know him... but I HIGHLY recommend dealing with star_umair_2005 on skype. He was able to unlock my ATT iphone4s within 36 hours and was very timely and nice. He also kept me updated along the way.

Funny how many "macrumors newbies" we have providing such glowing reviews for random unlockers as their one and only post on this site. LOL

Can someone confirm that the RSIM Pro works unlocking an At&T iPhone 5 7.0.4 for use on T-Mobile?

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY MARCUS HACKNEY Irescueunlocks, classic unlocks

Okay, I have an update. Marcus Hackney, the guy that runs irescueunlocks, or classic unlocks now? Back in October, I purchased $900 worth of unlocks from him. He came back to me telling me that the phones were blacklisted/stolen and no refunds. This was untrue, all the phones were checked out and they were clean. No way they could be stolen/blacklisted. Once I started to tell people that he was a scammer and stole my money. He texted me and told me that he will pay me back. That he is a man of his word. He gave me $195 back in Nov. Today is Feb 22 and I have not heard from him nor have not received anymore payments. Today I texted him and tweeted him asking if hes going to give me my refund.
He told me he is not in the unlocking business anymore. So I asked him are you going to be pay me back? I said well I am going to tell others about you because you said you were going to pay me back. All he said was ok. Nothing more. This guy is a SCAMMER!! This guy is no man of his word, just a scammer. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GUY. SPREAD THE WORD. I made the mistake of not paying with a credit card, looks like I lost my money. I'm going to file a report with the police. Will see what happens.
Hello everyone,

Just a heads up, DO NOT purchAse from iRescueUnlocks!!! He will scam you and run with your money!

I purchased 2 weeks ago and waited patiently. The person emailed me everyday with some lame excuse, finally he told me my phone was "blacklisted" and won't refund my money.

Complete Bs, I'm still using this phone for AT&T, the original carrier and I am the original owner!

Save your money guys! This guy is a scammer!!

Also I have all the emails I'm willing to share.

I see. I don't mind, I'm not updating unless there is a jailbreak anyways.

People need to understand that now days there is no such thing as "Software Unlock" for iPhones, so preserving your baseband radio and/or not updating your firmware assuming that the iPhone can be unlocked = false/not possible.

There used to be and correct me If I'm wrong but Ultrasn0w software unlock ended with iPhone 4 [It does not support 4S/5/5C/5S and future phones]

As for the reliability of unlocking services, the best I can say is that no matter who you go with it, just make sure they offer refunds should they not be able to unlock your smartphone.

AT&T Nokia and iPhone unlock services do not have a 100% guarantee unlock rate no matter how much you pay or who you go with, sure the expensive services are closer to 100% than the cheaper ones because of the methods used.

I cannot recommend, comment or speak about services/providers. Everyone is to do their own research and go where they feel comfortable.

Does this work?

Has anyone ever tried this?
http://myunlocker.org

At first I was like well what's the harm in trying but then I got worried that they could some how get my Apple ID and password from the apps your download.

Has anyone tried this before? Having a Japanese iPhone and an American iPhone is getting old. Plus I want to sell my 64GB ip5 ASAP.

I would advise anyone/everyone stay away from that website, something is fishy about the way they have it setup.

Plus --- All iPad's come factory unlocked and are not locked in anyway to any carrier --- this goes for ALL GSM iPAD's [iPad 1, 2, 3, 5, Air, Mini, Mini Retina] Including iPad 3/4/Air/Mini/Mini Retina from Sprint / Verizon as well! -- No one should be paying any $$ at all even if its 1 cent to unlock an iPad -- you are being fooled!

anyone know how to cheap unlock a iphone 4? with firmware 04.12.09 from portugal TMN carrier? TMN unlocks for >100€

@Confucious

Yes, but that means you can't update unless they release a FW update for the sim interposer.

I finally got my phone unlocked it cost me nearly £21

Prices do vary tremendously depending on who the phone is locked to. Mine was T-Mobile UK

@Confucious

Bit old I know but where did you get it done m8 ?

Incredible! It happened! (and fast)

I've been trying to get my AT&T US iPhone 5 unlocked since November, and it's been a disaster. Five different providers with good reputation failed to unlock it, possibly because it was reported as still under contract (I had bought it from a guy who had received it as a replacement phone, but had gotten tired of waiting and had bought a 5s instead).

Well, I'm happy to report that iphoneimei.info unlocked it for $70. It took 10 business days, and I had given up hope, but to my greatest surprise they came through, so I highly recommend them especially for desperate cases like mine!

thanks for the report, can you also provide which other sites that failed to unlock?

Being in the unlocking business, I get several customers that say these guys couldn't unlock their iPhone and they were not refunded.

I'm sure there must be services that really work and if they can't unlock any iphone they'll tell it before they take money or return it back :)

1.) That site is Free

2.) The apps they ask you to install are also free

3.) iPads do in fact come locked. I live in Japan and all here carriers sim lock the iPad. If you buy one unlocked at Apple, the carriers will not provide you with the cheap plan. (Even the iPad 1 was locked. http://www.japanmobiletech.com/2010/05/wtf-japanese-ipad-will-be-sim-locked111.html)

I can't speak for Japanese carriers, however in all of north america every single iPad is factory unlocked be it CDMA + GSM or just GSM.

As for that site and apps, I could care less if they are free, having first had experience in the this type of business I am 100% positive that those apps despite being free are up to no good.

And the fact that there is currently no standalone software unlock available for iPhones PERIOD!

You can fall into their gimmicky scam and give up your private data by building a tunnel into your devices by installing their "FREE" apps.

My job is to warn people when I see something like such happening and I did so, rest is up to you if you would like to play dumb with it as I cannot control that.

2 years ago is very different than today. Many places that used to work fail nowadays. Glad I unlocked my 5S for $2 on release week before all went to sh.

You got your 5S unlocked for $2?!?! WTF

The cheapest i ever saw was $5 for AT&T

yeap, :D I did have my 5S 3 days after release though. Took like 12 hours or even less
A few weeks later things went south in the IMEI unlocking world to never return again.

for now

I just sent a message to your recommended guy.

I submitted for an unlock on an unnamed online company that had good reviews. I have a 5S that I purchased on eBay. It was listed as locked to ATT and it worked just fine with my existing ATT SIM card. No issues whatsoever.

I now want to unlock it so my daughter can use it.

The company responded that the phone was locked to Verizon, so they could not unlock it, since I asked for ATT. I would have to resubmit again as a Verizon unlock request.

I did not think that a CDMA phone could work on ATTs network.

Thoughts?
