-RSim 9 Pro card from Ebay (this is what currently I'm using, because it is far the cheapest and working perfectly).

probably depends on the baseband version so updating could potentially break the unlock
I killed one Rsim card, because for first time was hard to insert together with the sim card. I'm using Iphone 5 and 5S AT@T with it.
don't know if this is already posted but I've used unlock fusion (I actually purchased through their ebay listing)to unlock my iphone5 back when it first came out.
2 years ago is very different than today. Many places that used to work fail nowadays. Glad I unlocked my 5S for $2 on release week before all went to sh.
I never had to unlock a phone before but I'm assuming basebands are only updated with ios updates?
Yes, but that means you can't update unless they release a FW update for the sim interposer.

Prices do vary tremendously depending on who the phone is locked to. Mine was T-Mobile UK
It says everywhere that imei unlocking cannot be reversed, however I've had a strange occurrence 4 times in the last month. Factory unlocked iphone 4 from AT&T, no longer getting message in itunes congratulations your phone has been unlocked, yesterday I got back an iphone I sold unlocked 2 years ago restored it and when I went to activate it I had to use a tmobile SIM card any other sim including AT&T gave me the error message stating SIM card is from unsupported carrier. A gsm iPhone 4 locked to tmobile? This is the first time I see anything like it I didn't know it was possible I thought tmobile never carried the iphone 4. I'm assuming it got locked to tmobile because that is the carrier that the guy was using. Also putting in a AT&T SIM card doesn't take me to activation screen but says no service, imei check confirms this iphone is factory unlocked.
