This is new. As usual, Apple is showing which NY stores have base models in stock. Until tonight, it simply said if a store was out of stock. But now it's instead giving in-store pickup dates in late April (Max) and mid-May (Ultra).
My 2014 Mini is worth less than $100 so it is worth more as a headless media server.Agree - the base Max is a great value for me and I use many of my La Cie SSD 1TB drives to shuttle between machines.
My base Max picked up at the Apple Store was $1400 due to trade in, EDU and Apple Cash.
And if you load an order up with extras, it will give you an available date further out. This is new. As usual, Apple is showing which NY stores have base models in stock. For the Apple Stores, I am sure most buyers would opt for the base Max version. The Studio Max seems to be much more widely available than the Ultra. Either the Ultra's are in ultra (see what I did there) high demand or Apple didn't make as many available thinking the Max would see the max (see what I did there) number of sales.
It could also be that the Ultras are more complicated to build what with the Ultra Fusion and those wanting maxed out cores. For the Apple Stores, I am sure most buyers would opt for the base Max version.
Paying 2x for the Ultra is usually only for the professional or serious prosumer.
Ultra buyers are probably more picky and therefore a CTO/BTO is the best option.
UK stores seem to have increased to 4 weeks for base model Max (delivered or pickup).
Seems to be today. Is that true of all UK stores?
One thing I’ve noticed is that *any* Mac Studio you spec out with 64gb (except for the base model Ultra— all ultras start with 64gb), the shipping estimate automatically jumps to 10-12 weeks / end of June. It looks as though base model Ultra’s are prioritized over BTO as they are the only 64gb model you can get before late June. Seems like the memory chips are more of a bottleneck than anything else. The Studio Max seems to be much more widely available than the Ultra. Looks like you are correct for the Max Mac Studio. If I tweak the other options, the push out on delivery is not as extreme. For the Ultras, I can change any of the options up from the base model and the push out goes to 10-12 weeks. One thing I’ve noticed is that *any* Mac Studio you spec out with 64gb (except for the base model Ultra— all ultras start with 64gb), the shipping estimate automatically jumps to 10-12 weeks / end of June. I have not seen any in the Apple stores.I'm looking for a Studio Display VESA. Is Apple's online pickup availability definitive or can stores have stock available for walk-ins only? Any one here bought one in-store in the last few days vs ordering for p/u?
They've been available for a few days...both models. I just wish they would get some studio displays in Omaha.Looks like the Ultra is available today in Omaha.
Ultra is not available, but Max is:The Florida stores are out of both.
I have not seen any in the Apple stores.
All my stores near me show May-June.
If you want one now, best to order online or from an authorized Apple reseller.
A little context from Italy. As far as I’ve researched, no Apple Premium reseller has received any Mac Studio, not even for display, since its introduction.
I’ve preordered one before the 18th and they told me more or less 6 weeks to have it.
Yeah I wonder how sporadic in-store availability will be for the short term. Still haven't seen an Ultra locally (Salt Lake City area) but really I *shouldn't* be flirting with buying one of those, haha. For the second day in a row, neither base Mac Studio is available at any of the 12 New York Apple stores.
