Infuse 5 looks great. A quick question for the developer: is there a technical reason why iCloud Drive is not listed amongst the cloud streaming options, or is it just a matter of it not being added yet? Thanks!

Just wanted to follow up on this for @firecore. Thanks!

Apple doesn't allow 3rd party apps to stream from iCloud. :( However, on iOS, you can use Document Picker to copy videos to Infuse from iCloud. This is available through the 'via Documents option found in Infuse's Add Files screen.

TVDB and others have artwork for series not just episodes.
Ah, so you're hoping to see artwork for the series folder that has seasons contained inside it?

Infuse has a few options for this, but by far the best will be to use the Library feature. This will automatically display artwork at all levels.

Got it, I think the issue only happens when I have multiple seasons of one show but if it's only one season, artwork shows.

Some times I´ve got the feeling that the iCloud sync doesn`t work absolute reliable...
In principle the sync on several IOS device works - but there are meanwhile several cases when for example change the artwork manually on one device that these changes are not repeated on an other device...
What is wrong here? How often are the informations refreshed? Some kind of push?

Hi,
This problem happened in v4 but was fixed in an update at some point but unfortunately it appears to be back in v5.

When scrolling through my TV shows favourite if you scroll one row at a time the animation is jerky. Its hard to explain but is definitely there and quite obvious once you notice it. It is more evident when scrolling down row by row.

It doesn't happen when scrolling through my movies favourite.

Could this be fixed please.

Cheers

EDIT - Just found the previous fix, it was fixed in 4.1 (tvOS) released 2016-04-04 - Smoother poster scrolling

Just installed Infuse 5, added my Share and added my desired folders from the share and made them favorites. All fine and dandy. When I select any folder at startup, I just get the spinning ring. I look at Library and it's got all my content but only a small part of it shows cover art. Select anything (with or without artwork) and just spins. If I go to the setting and choose Library, there is a spinning wheel in the lower left that says Fetching content for Share. Not sure what to do from here. It just doesn't seem to be working.

Update: I deleted my Favorites and even deleted the Share and re-added it. Now stuck on Checking connection... It sees my Share and I put in the same user name and password as yesterday when it started to load. Now I can't even get it to connect.

Update 2: Fixed. Had to reboot the aTV. I hope this is not an ongoing issue.

I apologize for being a pest. But now that it is loading my movies and I am have to edit some of the metadata I have 2 question. 1)Why after editing does it move the movie to the top of the list instead of keeping the alphabetical order and 2) I have some movies, Lord of the Rings for example, where the movie is split between 2 mkv files (2 dvd's for each movie). In the movie listing, there is no way to tell which is the 1st file and which is the 2nd file without starting. Is there anyway to edit the metadata so as to designate the 2 files as Disc 1 and Disc 2?

Today's latest: Forced subtitles not appearing in Avatar mkv.

What type of changes are you making that are not syncing.

With regard to metadata, Infuse uses iCloud to sync a list of manually corrected items, but not the metadata itself.

For example, if you have a video named 'Alice In Wonderland.mp4' Infuse may recognize this as the 2010 version with Johnny Depp. However, this may actually be the original 1951 animated release, and using the Edit option in Infuse to correct this will ensure this correction is synced to other devices as well.

Can you provide a bit more info on this? We've seen very minimal amounts of this (if any) in Infuse, though it may be related to a system bug since we've observed very jerky scrolling when navigating through listings in the App Store.

1. Can you provide a few examples of titles that are moving to the top of the list? Does the movie remain there if backing out and reentering the folder/category?

2. Infuse does not yet support multi-part movies (we have the LOTR extended series here as well), but it is in the works for an upcoming version.

3. With regard to subtitles, can you provide a bit more info about what's going on? Is the subtitle track being listed in the Playback Menu (swipe down while a video is playing to access). If this is an external subtitle file, some devices/protocols like UPnP/DLNA won't support these.

Not really sure what else i can provide, its smooth as silk in infuse 4 but not in 5, both running on the same system.

Its exactly the same jerky scrolling you fixed in the 4.1 release mentioned in my post.

Are you seeing it in the Library, or in general folders? How many items in the folders/category? Do you have the Embedded Metadata option enabled in Infuse?

I don't use the library feature, just old fashioned favourites.

It doesn't happen with my movie folder has thousands of files.

It happens with TV folders. They have around 20 series in each favourite.

Embedded metadata is off, metadata fetching is on.
[doublepost=1480960189][/doublepost]It's also much slower to open favourites than infuse 4. I'm running them side by side on the same Apple TV and it's a marked difference.

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it along and see if we can figure out what's up.

In the meantime, you may give the Library option a try. It's pretty slick, and the people who have tried it really seem to like it.

Just tried and the jerky scrolling is not there in library to view.

Unfortunately the library view doesn't allow me the flexibility of favourites. I like to keep my tv shows separate from the kids stuff, same with movies.

Favourites is the reason I switched to infuse, please don't let it become a forgotten feature

I had Metadata Fetching set to OFF and Embedded Metadata: ON. When I set Metadata Fetching to ON. The movies re-sorted themselves into the correct alphabetical order.

Ok. That will be a nice addition. Hope it comes sooner rather than later, of course.

False alarm on this one. I was watching Avatar (I always use this movie to judge what's going on with various players), thought I was watching a section that should have had forced subs but actually not. Later on, I hit the section where there are forced subs and they appeared displayed normally. Thanks for the swipe down hint. Never think to do that. There were a couple track options, one for full subtitles and the other for forced subs. No way to tell from the track info (track 4 and track 6) which one was which. With there was a way to change the track labels.

Thanks for your help. Everything (video and audio) seems to be working well. Just understanding the nuances of Infuse seems to be my challenge. On to TV Shows...lol

Got it.

And just to confirm, I assume the 20 series you see when the issue occurs, are 20 actual folders with items inside them? I just want to be sure we can do our best to replicate the issue here.

Great! Let us know if we can do anything else to help. :)

Yeah, it's 20 show folders, inside each is multiple season folders with episodes inside them.

Movies are fine where I just have multiple video files inside one big movie folder, no sub folders.

New customer here (subscribed to v5 Pro). It's so nice to finally be free of having to run an iTunes or Plex server all the time. I hooked an external drive up to my router and setup a network drive. After some initial strangeness (Apple TV reboot cleared it up), I'm up and running like a champ. So far my movies/shows play fast, the UI is fantastic and iCloud sync is pretty sweet. It would be awesome if there was as option to include iCloud movies/shows in the Infuse library but I realize that can't be done unless Apple decides to support that feature someday.

Keep up the good work! It will be nice if the upcoming parental controls feature has an option to completely omit a folder from the library.

Maybe I shouldn't have started TV Shows

So from my quick searching of Infuse Metadata 101 and this thread, my understanding is that all of my TV episodes either have to have the filenames changes to include the season and episode information or be moved into a structured folder system (Show>Season>Episode), even though the mp4 metadata has the season and episode # in the metadata. Is that correct? Just want to make sure before renaming hundreds of files. Finally, is the renaming the file with Season/Episode included preferred over the folder structure approach? If I do folder structure will I see a wall of gray folders vs file naming I will see a list of shows with their respective artwork?

Right now, I have a gray folder for each tv show and inside the folder is a wall of files (with artwork displayed), appears to be 2 groups, each alphabetically ordered (not sure why there are 2 groups).

How are you shows named now? Infuse supports a number of the most common naming styles (list here: https://support.firecore.com/hc/en-us/articles/215090947-Metadata-101) and you will need to use one of these naming styles in order to take advantage of the online metadata and Library features in Infuse. However, if you prefer to use the embedded info only you can flip on the 'Embedded Metadata' option found in Infuse to avoid the need to rename anything. This, however, would not allow the shows to be listed in the Library section.

Hopefully this might help someone else...

I was having really slow video starting, really slow favourite opening and it was really slow to load the video preview screen for movies/tv (the bit that shows synopsis, cast etc).

I was playing around with a few settings today and turning off File Management has fixed all those issues for me. Its back to the performance I had in v4, 5-10 seconds to open or play anything to almost instant.

Whats weird is that the speed is the same in v4 with File Management on or off.

Hopefully this might help FC track down the issue.

I do have Embedded Metadata set to ON. Right now my files are just in a show name folder and each file has the title of the episode, that's all, no season or episode info. My goal would be to have the tv show folder>season folder>episode file. I just learned how to add artwork to a folder, so that would enhance the way each level of folder works. How will Infuse organize everything if I just change the file names to include the season&episode&episode name. Will it just be a tv show folder with all the individual files in it (no folders)?

Also, is it bad to have both Metadata Fetching and Embedded Metadata on?

If you were to add the series/season/episode info to the filename, Infuse would be able to match that against info found at TheTVDb. This would allow all the episodes to be smartly grouped, with full cover art at all levels, in the Library.

We don't require Embedded Metadata to be on, though Infuse will be able to index your files much faster with it disabled - though you will need it unless you decide to rename the files.

I might suggest renaming one season or series first, let Infuse index it and then see if you like how things lay out in the Library. That way at least you know what your getting before you spend a bunch of time renaming everything.

Another benefit to having your shows properly indexed by Infuse (via file renaming) is you'll be able to take advantage of trakt sync. This means, your watched history and progress will stay in sync between all your devices (or be restored if you upgrade/replace a device).
