Why does infuse take so long to scan the titles on my QNAP TS251+ NAS? It never seems to finish scanning. :/ am ustilising an 802.11ac connection.
Infuse fetches metadata in a few different stages, and it can take a bit of time if you have a lot of files.

One thing you can do to speed things up is to ensure the 'Embedded Metadata' option is disabled.

Feel free to send in a report from your device if you still think it's taking too long, and we can assist further.

Today we're happy to release Infuse 5.4!

This update includes a mountain of changes for subtitles, some nice performance improvements for 10-bit videos, and many other really great things. The full story on what's new is below.

All-new subtitles engine
Subtitles have been entirely revamped, and we've made a ton of improvements in many areas. The result is an awesome new implementation that supports many more formats - including subtitles with fancy styling or animation effects (*pause for karaoke fans to rejoice*). Other changes include new color options, and support for subtitles in 3D videos (SBS & TAB).

Awesome 10-bit video playback
10-bit videos get a nice performance boost on newer iOS devices thanks to some slick new hardware decoding options. Not only does HW decoding provide great playback performance, it unlocks hours of extra battery life as well.

And a bunch of other improvements
We've packed in a number of other smaller (but still important) improvements and fixes, and a complete list of what's new can be found here.

Happy birthday Infuse
This week marks the 4th anniversary of the original Infuse release in 2013 (wow that went by fast), and we wanted to take this opportunity to send a huge wave of thanks to our awesome users who have helped make Infuse what it is today. As always, we love hearing from you - so please feel free to post a comment below or drop us a note anytime.

Enjoy!

I think I solved the problem with Apple last night with a technical error on their side with Family Sharing setup. All set for now, will be 100% sure on the next update.

I have the same problem. My Infuse app doesn't update automatically on Apple TV. I have to every time uninstall the Infuse app and reinstall it to get the latest version.

Can you please list the steps that helped you fixed the same.

Apps should update automatically, though there can be a delay at times while the App Store listing is updating.

Worst case, you should be able to search for Infuse in the App Store and select the Update button manually. Sometimes restarting the Apple TV can force the App Store listing to update. Removing the app shouldn't be required.

Make sure you know which account you bought it from and which is logged in on the AppleTV, that was my biggest issue. It took a bunch of install and reinstalls along with buying and refunding etc. until finally it worked.

I got a work around.
My Infuse app was showing v5.3 and App Store was showing latest version as 5.4, but the problem was the App store was displaying 'Open' instead of 'Update'. This happened last couple of times and I had to reinstall the app to get the latest version.

I have Family Sharing activated.

This time after reading certain response in this thread I went to the App Store's family sharing menu and browsed through my Dad's purchased apps, found Infuse there and when I opened it showed me the option of 'Update' which I did and I am now on latest version.

I think the Infuse app was purchased from my Dad's apple account.
So I didn't have to reinstall the app this time, but I am wondering do I have do this every time to get Infuse updates?

Yes that's exactly what I have to do unfortunately, hopefully Apple will improve the Family Share recognition on the upcoming tvOS

If I purchase infuse pro 5.4 will future updates be free? Infuse 6x , infuse7x and so on?

Yes, the subscription covers all future updates. A bit more info on this can be found here. https://firecore.com/forum/topic/13168

Videos can be streamed from a Mac, PC, NAS, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Other cloud services will be added in future updates.

Just a little thumbs up for Infuse on the subtitles front. I was watching a movie the other night and realised it needed English subs for various sections. A quick swipe down and the option to download subs was immediately available. I chose a .srt file from the list available for that movie and went back to the movie with English subs in all the right parts. Too easy!

Awesome! Subtitle downloads is definitely a pretty slick feature. ;)

Just interested - as someone who lives in the UK and has ripped a lot of PAL 25fps DVDs - does Infuse detect the framerate of the video and either i)download the relevant substitles to match the video or ii)adjust the substitle timings? A lot of substitles are for NTSC playback and go out of sync with PAL videos.

Infuse isn't able to adjust subtitle timings based on FPS, but we are working to improve the OpenSubtiles download window to list the FPS of each subtitle download so you can be sure to download one that matches your content.
