Couple of questions:

I’ve got a folder on my Google Drive with some wrestling videos in it and then additional sub folders within said folder noting the promotion and then more sub folders for the relevant year.

-Wrestling
- AEW
- WWE
- 1991
- WWE Royal Rumble 1991.mp4
- 2022
- WWE Day 1 2022.mp4

How can I set up the same structure on Infuse?

I’ve got a Wrestling favourite folder set up with AEW and WWE folders but when I go into the WWE folder it the shows the 2 shows and not the folders.

Can I create additional folders within a folder?

Thanks.

In this case, Infuse is likely automatically grouping the episodes together into a single season item. Selecting this would allow you to view all episodes that have been grouped into that season.

If you want to keep more of the original folder structure, you should be able to add an extra folder (can be named anything) inside the 1991 and 2022 folders.

Happy 2022! ?

7.3.2 is the first update of the year, and includes a handful of helpful fixes and improvements.

I've been connecting a portable hard drive to my router, enabling SMB, and playing my movies from the drive using Infuse Pro on an Apple TV 4k 1st Gen.

I would like to purchase a 4-bay NAS in order to have all of my movies in a single place. I've looked at QNAP, Synology, and Asus. I've read posts from owners who say that installing Plex Server caused their drives to stop hibernating/sleeping because they are always being accessed. I want to keep things simple with as few apps as possible on the NAS. No video transcoding will be required.

Has any successfully used Infuse Pro to access an SMB share on the QNAP, Asus, or Synology to playback 4k rips without installing Plex Server?

I make rips from my own 4k discs and have the option of saving the rips in a BDMV or MKV format.

Any information would be appreciated before I make my first NAS purchase.

Thanks.

Yep, I have a base model Synology NAS to store media files. I have set up an SMB share and play these files from a couple of Apple TVs.

Of course. I use Infuse like this for over 6 years.
SMB Share on my Synology.
I would recommend Synology… best OS out there.
Thanks. I looked at the Synology for $700 Canadian and the Asustor for $739 Canadian. I was leaning towards the Asus because of its 2.5Gb Ethernet ports for $39 more.

I'm another very happy Synology & Infuse user - highly recommend Synology, and I stream 4k movies/TV over a 5gHz wifi connection (from an Asus wifi router), so even if the Synology ethernet is 'only' 1GBps then that's already way way overkill for any media streaming.

I would recommend Synology…

My preference would be a QNAP with 10G and Thunderbolt (the latter can be used for very fast direct connect transfers). QNAP has models available with faster processors (i5 6 core) than Synology at the same higher price points. Synology doesn't support Thunderbolt and 10G support usually involves adding an additional card. QNAP units can have voice prompts on status ("shutting down", "starting up", "thunderbolt device has been connected") and an LCD screen which gives you status messages. Some QNAP models have HDMI ports so that you can directly drive a monitor.

Synology also seems to be moving to the model that you have to buy addons (memory, SSDs) from them at extremely inflated price points.

Their memory compatibility lists for my 1821+ only shows Synology memory. They charge $350 for 16 GB of memory, which you may be able to get for $70 elsewhere. Only Synology M.2 NVME SSDs are listed. My Intel SSDs which worked fine on an equivalent QNAP throw an error messages on the Synology:

Synology software does seem more stable than QNAPs. Paying those inflated prices for their memory and SSDs probably does guarantee more stability if you are willing to pay the price.

I have both.

I found a good deal on a used QNAP TS-451+ with 8 GB of ram. I set it up last night as a network share and played 5 minutes of Fury from a 4k rip I made from the disc. Played perfectly over WiFi. Now, I can consolidate the files I have spread across a few external desktop and portable drives.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Question:
Can you add and organize internet streams, like live public webcams that stream on m3u8 format?
Or all the media sources need to be on the local or in specific cloud network?

Not currently, but this is something we may look at for a future version.

You can follow this thread in the suggestions area of our forum.

Thank you for your response, I really didn't expect an answer directly from the development team!

I didn't expect a positive response either as you were asking for Infuse to also double as an IPTV player - at least, that's how it sounded to me... and i'll add that I'd be delighted if Infuse did develop that capability.
:D

Currently using IPTVX on my Apple TV 4k - so that's a good option for now at least

I am using the latest release of Infuse and can't figure out how to remove the 'Top Rated Movies' section on the Apple TV. I removed it on the Mac version but, that didn't seem to translate to the Apple TV.

Anyone able to shed light on this, and possibly provide an answer? @firecore

You can add, remove, and rearrange any of the lists on the Home Screen by selecting the list icon which appears in the top right corner of the Home Screen.

I have 'show Filenames' turned off (on Mac and Apple TV) but, before each episode, the file name (with season) is still showing (popping up on the screen before the actual episode starts. Attached shows I have the box unticked. @firecore

The Show Filenames setting allows you to see the actual filenames while browsing through your videos, instead of the prettier fetched titles.

An option for having the titles hidden when using continuous playback is something we may look at for a future update, and you can follow this thread for updates.

Long time Plex user, which I still am, however I had a few ripped movies that were giving me issues with Plex, so I did a few tests within Infuse... and they played without a single issue. I ended up buying the lifetime pass and haven't looked back. I still use Plex to manage/tag/posters etc, and I also use it for when I want to watch movies on my phone. But Plex is pretty much used to stream music, which for me has never been issue, but for movies, I am now using Infuse.

I had a few ripped movies that were giving me issues with Plex,

When I encounter a problem with Plex playing a video (usually one which has been downloaded) I re-encode it and that has always fixed the problem. Some encoders evidently are dicey.

Interesting. I usually run into an issue if the audio is Dolby Atmos or some other type. The file will play fine via my phone, but not via the AppleTV Plex client. Was driving me nuts. So did a quick test with Infuse and it played without a hitch. So, for 90$ or so, I just bought the lifte time pass and called it a day. I still use Plex, but if a file gives me issues, I just switch over.
