Thank you!!!!!!!!

Seeing terms like "ridiculous" and "unforgivable" in this context is really hard to take. "Unforgivable" is somebody murdering your kid, not the wrong color on a startup screen. When you use hyperbole like this for such trivial stuff, it makes it hard to give you any credibility

And its not even the start up screen!! Its the shutdown! It literally makes no difference to the usage of the device.

Ok. It matters. A teensy, weensy bit. I get it. Does it make the phone unusable?

No, it doesn't. To me, it shows that Apple has lost the pursuit of absolute perfection that Steve Jobs forced on the dev teams. And I don't usually say things like that.

Now, the punctuation-space bug falls in an entirely different category.

No one can achieve perfection. Get used to it. Steve had to.*

* As I recall, there was a small issue with the antenna on the iPhone 4. As I also recall, Steve had to publicly apologize. It happens on any complex system, such as the iPhone or iOS.

I never said he achieved absolute perfection. There's no way that's possible. The Reality Distortion Field was real, and now Apple is becoming a regular company that just happens to have a huge following.

Is any of what I'm saying making sense?

Especially if "Hey Siri" would use the headphones' microphone.
It already does

Yeah, but after it turns green, there is like a fade out animation.
It's a hard interrupt based reset - this should only every be used when you're unable to switch off normally. Use it under exceptional circumstances when the screen locks up completely.

It seems like it's faster than a normal restart.

Just like holding the power down on your computer. You are not shutting down the software in a safe matter. You are closing everything out manually. This should only be done when the device locks up or you have something running in the background that will not close out my closing the app. Hard reboot is for troubleshooting only.

A normal restart closing everything out safely which takes more time.

I understand completely. How does a restart manage to keep everything in memory though? I know I sound stupid, but I always want to know more about how iOS does what it does.

iPhone 6s. Battery on GM seems to be really good.

~6 hrs of usage is not good battery life (unless ur doing something battery intensive every now and then).

Apps aren't kept in memory, but like computers, it keeps certain things in a saved state. Computers typically have a small secondary battery that keeps power flowing through the device, even when shut off. Not sure if thats the same for iOS devices, but a normal reset doesn't have the 'killing' ability for the software that hard reset does.

You consider that good? On Beta 6 I could squeeze 11+ hours of usage out of my 6s. GM, I can barely break 6 hours. Its much worse than Beta 6/7. Beta 8 is just like the GM for me in terms of battery life.

Has 11+ hours of usage ever really been realistic for typical/common use?

It has for me. Over the past 2 years of owning iPhone 6 and 6s. I typically get 9-10 hours of usage a day. I think we've discussed this in the past. I get an average of 1hr per 10% battery drain. So when I'm at 3hrs of usage and below 60%, something is not right.

I feel like we say this every year now, but it almost feels like the "GM" is beta 8/9 instead of a final release.
I know right? But they are now calling it "release candidate" so potentially we could get something else on Tuesday. I am not sure if they have ever called it anything other than golden master in the past.

Interesting. I know with iPhone 6 in the earlier days of owning it I would typically have around 3 hours of usage around 67% and somewhat over 4 around 50% but as time went on it certainly changed some to where it's about 2 hours of usage at 67% and 3 hours around 50%. There are still days when I can be around 7 hours of usage time when the battery is almost out, but mostly it's closer to 6 at most (while in the early days I could be around 8 or 9). Can't say I ever really saw more than 10, or maybe once when I barely used my phone and was mostly in one area with WiFi and fairly good cell signal.

When I click an app that's been updated it no longer takes me to that app page. Force restarted and no luck. Anyone else?
Yep several discussions in this thread just above regarding that. Seems maybe a server side issue as some had it before others and some on iOS 9 starting experiencing it as well.

Well have you gotten that all the way down to 0% or assume that you will get the same 10% per on the last half? I typically see about 10% per hr the first 90% or maybe even 80% but then starts dropping faster. You cant really assume if you got 5.5hrs on 50% that you will get another 5.5 % until 0%. Doesn't really work that way for whatever reason.

Cell signal strength typically isn't a problem for me. On days that I don't have the service, its noticeable. As my battery ages I do start to see a decrease from 8-10 hours, to 6-8. But ultimately, if i'm not seeing the 1hr per 10% then something isn't right with my device. Thats basically the easiest way for me to judge battery life with updates. My usage doesn't really vary from day to day use.

Almost, thats from 100%->5%. The first 10% usually lasts the longest, while the last 5-10% drain the quickest. So even though its not 100% linear, it tends to equal itself out. I should note, for my 6s battery life times. I turn low power on once it hits 10%. So the last 5% or so is in low power mode.

When did they start calling it release candidate?

I know the PB is a GM Release Candidate. But the DP is still the GM on the developer portal, right?

I'm not a Developer, so i cannot access the full portal, but this is what I see on the developer website.
