I feel like there is a lot of misinformation and confusion..
We know the new iPhone's already shipped, logically with iOS 10 "Beta 8", because today's "GM"/10.0.1 wasn't dropped until after the new iPhone had left factories, and Apple had to ship the new iPhones with a solid build of iOS 10. "Beta 8" was really the intended GM. Apple will likely release iOS 10.0.0/"Beta 8" on 9/13 when iOS is released to the public, and then "GM"/10.0.1 by 9/16, so that all devices are up to speed on the same build number. Obviously Apple couldn't have shipped the new iPhone with a "non final" iOS 10 version, so they coined it 10.0.0. iOS 10.0.1 is just going to be virtually the same as 10.0.0, but to appeal to the masses that they are all receiving a public-ready version of iOS 10. Yes I'm sure 10.0.1 contains minor bug fixes, but overall, there is way too much concern of between Beta 8, GM, 10.0.0, and 10.0.1.
We shouldn't get caught up on how Apple terms their iOS releases, it's the build number that counts.
