At least the good thing about this beta 10.1.1 JB, is that hopefully once the more stable version is released is soon, at least a lot of good tweaks should have been updated and be compatible with iOS 10.1 ?

I doubt it. Last time I JB I found virtually all of the good JB apps were not updated to work, some of them not having been updated in years. This is the Achilles heel to jailbreaking that we all forget until we open up the Cydia store and find none of our apps work.

Yes, that's a very good point.
Even if there is a JB if none of the hacks are updated to work with the new ios version or new hardware device then there's not much you can do with it.
Oh BiteSMS I miss you dearly :)

fwiw, all I need now is updated Eclipse and Activator and I'm all set on the staple tweaks for my config!

Tage beta works (zephyr) and Touchr beta works (glorified Virtualhome)

pleasantly surprised, sped up animations works too.

ColorFlow would be nice too, album art color coordinated UI for spotify/music app, but it like other things will just be added bonuses,

I definitely dont encourage people to try the beta tho, you gotta be hungry and foolish

I know it's not polite to ask about when an update or new ROM release will come out, sorry I meant JB :)

But when do you think roughly there will be an updated Jailbreak out ?

I thought I read something over this weekend that an updated release was like 7 days away no sooner. So my guess would be possibly this New Years weekend the earliest.

Now isn't there another group working on a full stable 10.2 JB due soon too ?

i0n1c has alluded to it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. he's also said he's in no way affiliated but backdoor efforts have ramped up.

I hope stable JB comes before New Years, when Prometheus SHSH is set to release to re-restore from a jailbroken I think either 9.3.3 or 10.1.1, and possibly 9.0x or 9.1 too I dunno really,

I won't be testing it but curious to read about it! good times ahead,

May just be trying to steal limelight from Luca for now, is my impression from Esser's comments,

I'd also think 10.2 would be a waste of a jailbreak unless its stuff thats definitely been closed on 10.2.1 beta, all you gain is emojis lol, I dont trust there are any real bug fixes, or bug fixes resulting in new bugs on top, apple QC is terrible.

in a sense, we're all beta testers, as jailbreak users or not! :D

I'm no longer a jailbreak beta tester. I had applied the jailbreak and had deleted the iOS 10.2 upgrade file from Storage on the phone. I was applying a backup to my 7 Plus that I had made earlier today. When the backup finished in iTunes, the phone rebooted as it always does before reinstalling the apps and music. However, at the end of the boot, the white screen appeared with "Press home to upgrade". I guess it's about time to press home and put my passcode in.

Rat farts.

whaaa? that stinks, so restore from a backup invoked a forced upgrade?

I meant we're all beta testers, as in even stock iOS is buggy and meh-able.

I have pretty fast wifi and the iOS 10.2 OTA must have snuck back onto the phone.

At least I have Facebook++ to sideload, which is useful to me for downloading videos of my granddaughter. :)

But maybe we'll get lucky with a 10.2 jailbreak

I'm not holding my breath.

you should go to Genius Bar and tell them they pulled a fast one on you, shoehorning an iOS update into the restore from backup, and you were really excited for Yalu as a late xmas present, with a straight face,

Also tell them the company you work for relies on jailbreak for a comprehensive Mobile device mgt solution, with proper ent profiles,

see what they say :D

Love it! :D

Seriously, I'm not that broken up about it. I've lived without jailbreak since the 7/7 Plus came out and I'll be without it again when the new models appear later next year. Would have been nice, though. I really wanted to shut down all animations completely.
[doublepost=1482870159][/doublepost]I'm still on 10.1.1!

EDIT: I just carried through with the "update" I'd been avoiding all day, but remained on 10.1.1. Weird.

I have said something similar in the past and they have given me a device running a jailbreakable firmware on it.

It all depends on who you get as the apple employee helping you.

I installed the jailbreak but could not get Cydia to refresh source, so I went to iCloud and erased my iPhone (this is the recommended procedure on the jailbreak sub on reddit). Then I applied the backup I had made earlier yesterday. Once the restore from backup was complete on iTunes, the phone rebooted (as it always does) to finish installing the apps and music, etc. However, the reboot took me to the white screen with "Press home to upgrade" at the bottom. AT that point I shut the phone down and left it in the corner of my desk like a viper about to strike.

I researched the crap out of this, but found nothing useful, so a few minutes ago I gave up and decided to live with 10.2. I put in my passcode and watched a white progress bar creep slowly across the screen. When it was done, I checked the iOS version in Settings and it said 10.1.1. The backup also reinstalled my tvOS beta profile so I won't have the damned phone prompting me to upgrade to 10.2.

Gotcha that horrifying

yeah if I ever need to erase iPhone from iCloud as I read about too, I would start as new again. Restore from backup just freaks me out in general period

also- did this wipe cydia, and mach portal? this iCloud wipe process? I'm assuming so, that it makes it return to "out of the box" like state,

No. The icons for Cydia and SubstrateFix are still there. Hoping that won't be a snag when the final is released. I've hidden them away in a folder for now. mach_portal is gone, though.

They just release beta 4 today. So there's active notable work coming. Still didn't work on my 6s plus :(

Mobile substrate support was added, which was the big change.
