Still doesn't mean they'll fix it.

I was kinda hoping for a fix soon, but if it's not even in 10.1 beta 1, then it's definitely not going to be in 10.0.2 or 10.0.3 and such.
But it doesn't mean that they won't. They could be working on it for 10.0.x update and when that is released it will be merged into one of the upcoming 10.1 betas.

There won't be a 10.0.2 or 10.0.3, or is that what you've chosen to call the betas?
Why won't there be 10.0.x updates? Or is that meant to say something else?

Highly unlikely. 10.0.1 was the GM/final 10.0.

When the add a major feature (like the Plus camera feature here) they are typically .1 releases. Like night shift was.

It appears that's all they added here and some tiny bug fixes, so I wouldnt expect a lot of betas. They want to get it to 7 Plus users ASAP so they have the announced features from the event.

Frankly, I expect a 10.0.2 to drop this week or next week to fix the urgent issues with signal on some carriers and with Bluetooth on the 7+s.

EDIT: Finally, I was right about something!

What part is highly unlikely? There are usually a few betas for x.y releases when they have them. And there are usually some small bug fix updates for most x.y versions, especially x.0 ones. That doesn't mean that things can't be different or anything like that, but it doesn't really seem to imply that something is highly unlikely or likely really.

I was thinking, there might be a 10.0.2 to fix issues with No Service and flakey service on T-Mobile and some non-US carriers.

Have they fixed the bug/feature where every time you leave Safari and return for any reason the sidebar containing the Reading Lists auto closes?

Because it appears 10.1 is ready to go with the bokeh feature as is. Theres nothing else to add feature wise to it.

has anyone tested if those fixes are in 10.1? I would bet they are and we see a fast 10.1 release

It doesn't mean that 10.1 is ready to go. There could be more things being added to it, more things being adjusted/improved, and/or more things being fixed. I mean we aren't even half way through day 1 of beta 1 for the release.

my advice for users 6s /plus or older devices downgrade to 9.3.5 ...ios 10 will take long time to be smothe and stable like 9.3

As far as Faces syncing goes, I believe that it will never sync for privacy reasons, like Health and TouchID info it is device independent.

If that was the case the notes wouldn't reflect that it's not yet enabled. Clearly it's coming. It really only neeeds to be a metadata tag attached to each image. Apple can simply not store what it learns from the images. That said anyone exceptionally concerned with privacy probably shouldn't be using iCloud photos.

I'm afraid if you read it, it says "in iOS 10" not "in iOS 10.xxxx beta x" - I really wouldn't hold your breath on this one.

I think news widget is broken (at least for me) in this release. I have restarted the phone, delete and add the widget again and still displays "no stories".
It is semi-broken. For me it updates the story after a long time, perhaps multiple hours. Right now it works fine.

My thinking, fwiw, is that 10.1 is, more or less, what was supposed to have been released as the GM, except that the bokeh feature was not ready to go. So they went with 10.0.1. As a result, unless there are serious problems with it, it'll ship much faster than a normal X.1 release would. It'll probably have some of the quick bug wrap ups we would normally have seen in a 10.0.1. But I know diddly, so take it with a grain of salt: Apple has been like politics this year: conventional wisdom is out the window!

So, am I the only one not able to update any of their apps from the App Store? I just keep getting the pop-up "Unable to Download Apps" since I've installed 10.1.

I'm curious, why is that the thinking basically? Simply just a theory basically, or something to indicate that that's the case (that basically 10.1 is nothing more than that single camera feature and therefore it would be different than most other x.y releases and more like a x.y.z type of release as far as timing and all that)? I mean plenty of x.y releases haven't brought too much with with them as far as new things, and yet still took some time with various betas to actually make it out there (although that's not always the case). Just curious if there really some indicators of something in particular, or just basically people's theories and the whole "expect the unexpected" type of thing when it comes to iOS 10.

As I qualified my post, its my thinking, so I can't speak for anyone else. However, I am basing my thoughts on info from Apple commentators and analysts that I trust. They may be wrong, in which event, i am also likely to be wrong.

The camera thing (one of the few features of 10.1 that we have absolute certainty about) was a tentpole feature of the iPhone 7+ release. It is incongruous to think that a major selling point -- in what the media characterized out of the gate as a rather unremarkable update to a current device (their thoughts, not mine!) -- was not ready to go on launch day. That's a distinctly unApple-like thing to happen, and I'm about as sure as I can be that this was not planned that way. Why would it be? They had to be embarrassed. I would have been, if I were them: "Buy our great new phone with the great new feature that <cough, cough> isn't ready for primetime yet. But trust us: its great!" They don't operate that way.

So, that brings us to today. This beta is released and the only thing identified of significance is, surprise, surprise, the missing camera feature. Of course, bandwidth is precious, even for Apple, and so, my theory goes, they bundled up the stuff that would normally have come out in the first minor release (I'm not going to go there with 10.0.1, etc...) and its now in this release, too. I could be wrong about that and we could see a 10.0.2 drop (possibly without a non-Cupertino beta).

We'll never know any of this for sure, because Apple never talks!

Well, that's a fairly rational take on it given what you mentioned. Perhaps indeed it might all be that way. I guess we'll see.
