It happened again, but only after about an hour and a half, and only after the battery went below 90%.
[doublepost=1481294913][/doublepost]

I remember one time I downgraded from 9,3 beta to 9.2 or something like that.
You can downgrade, but any backups you made at the higher version level will not reinstall on the device. That said, you may have also had information stored in the cloud version of apps restore to the apps, as i believe that that should be OS version agnostic (unless your talking really old versions, of course).

Battery life on beta 7

Do you have a watch connected?

I'm looking for improvements in battery life with a watch connected on standby times.

Mine racks up hours of phantom usage with a watch connected o 10.1.1 and ruins standby times.

I have never experienced phantom usage because of my watch. I've had it since launch day 2015. You sure you don't have apps on your phone causing phantom usage? Facebook and Messenger are notorious for this.

I don't own a smart watch.

I have those apps now, but even with only stock apps I get loads of phantom usage.

But this has been a problem on iPhone 6, 5C and two 7's. but not the SE. Also the iPad seems to handle Bluetooth stuff really well.

Overnight (7-8 hours) I get 10 minutes without watch and 30 with. And that translates to 2-5 percent and 8-15 percent loss.

As I just quoted another one of your posts. I get 0% battery drain overnight with my watch connected. You need to unpair and repair your watch with your device. Something has gone rogue. I know for a fact that both Facebook and Messenger can cause hours of phantom usage.

Thanks for all your posts!

I already have paired the watch as new. The usage only appears when the watch is paired. Even when I don't change any settings in the watch app. The battery screen of the iPhone shows no weird app behaviour at all. Just a lot of extra "usage". Has been like this since I got the watch with my iPhone 6.

I'm still going to say its not watch related. I don't have it in front of me so I don't know. But, with that being said and having my watch for over 20 months and have not experienced any extra usage because of it, I will stand by my thought of it being FB or Messenger. In a 24 hour period I had 8 hours of phantom usage from Messenger without opening the app once in that 24 hour period. Since that day I deleted it.

It really could just be coincidence that the usage appears when your watch is connected.

Unless, do you store photos or music on your watch? Maybe its trying to sync even though it should only when its connected to power.

Ok using stock mail app. I receive no notifications at all for new emails. I've checked everything notification wise for the app is on. Any way to fix or anyone else having that issue?

Weird that it's proving to be the complete opposite for me. So far, beta 7 is looking just as bad as beta 5 was. I had beta 6 running all day today from morning till late afternoon and had only gone down 30%. Installed beta 7 and (not accounting for the percentage lost from doing the install) 4 hours later my battery had dropped almost 50%. :/

So with beta 6, over the course of 8 hours, I lost 30% battery. Beta 7, over the course of 4 hours, I lost nearly 50%. Same usage, too. Right off the bat I could tell that beta 5 and beta 7 both made standby time completely tank for me. Not sure what caused it, but I'm hoping it doesn't last because my battery on beta 6 was absolutely phenomenal.
Did you setup as a new phone or from a backup with your phone? I started from scratch then added the accounts.

Has indexing ever been proven to actually happen on iPhones? I keep hearing it mentioned but have never seen confirmation that it's a thing, much less that it affects performance for whatever amount of time.
Anyone with a large iCloud Photo Library might take days to index. Until mine was my battery life had huge background activity. Seems it doesn't stop immediate when woken up or disconnected from power

I've been testing this for months.

I just paired the watch to my phone again yesterday and had horrible battery life. The app list in the battery pane shows no weird things. The apps show the time I have used them. It's just the "usage" stat that is way higher.

Overnight I got 4 percent drain average without the watch pared. Tonight with it paired I got 8. Normally it used around 10 minutes of usage. Today I got a whopping 50 minutes. After using the phone for five minutes after a night it drains 3 percent without watch and around another 8 with.

Literally the only thing that has changed is that I now have a watch connected.

I have attached 4 screenshots. The first is before I went to sleep tonight. The second is when I woke up.

The third is before I went to sleep the day before yesterday and the fourth when I woke up yesterday. I find the difference night and day. Again: only thing that has changed is that I now have a watch paired. The watch itself doesn't drain as hard but it barely hits 20 hours of idling.

Getting 50 minutes of usage over an 8 hour period is very normal for my iPhone 7Plus, with or without my watch connected. I lose 0% battery life overnight though. Very, very rarely, I wake up with 1% lost. Most the time I have about 45-65min of usage and 7.5 hours of standby. I still think its coincidence with the watch be connected. Something else seems to be running. You don't have any 3rd party apps installed on your watch?

Edit: I just thought of something. Are you wearing the watch when its spiking 'phantom' usage?

I never have more than 10 minutes of usage over 7-8 hours of standby. Never. Only with the watch connected.

No I am not wearing the watch, it's on the nightstand at night. The devices drain just as much on my wrist as they do on the nightstand.

This literally makes zero sense. You might be the only person in the world that is experiencing this. I sure know for a fact that no one in my family does. But heres what I really don't understand. How are you losing 4% overnight with only 10 minutes of background usage, and 8% with 50 minutes? And then I am losing 0% with 45-65 minutes. Something is definitely running on your phone to cause such battery drain.

I'm not starting from a 100.

If I start from a 100 I would lose nothing without the watch paired and 1-4 with it paired.

I agree that something is running. I can't find out what though. Even dfu restoring the phone, setting up everything as new, including the watch and using a new iCloud account does not solve the problem. And the weirder thing is that it happens on iPhone 6, 5C and the 7, but not the SE. Have you seen my screenshots? It's easy to see what I'm talking about.

I am pairing the watch anew again right now as per your suggestion, maybe I get lucky this time. I have met more people in my environment with the same issue. They could solve it by disabling Siri, however. Disabling Siri makes no difference here, but it does make a difference without the watch.

To be clear; I have Siri completely disabled (even though it still shows up in the battery list, I guess for dictation). Background refresh also, push notifications as well, and almost no location services.

Yeah I saw your screenshots. I truly don't understand. I can go to bed at 55% and wake up with 55% remaining and having 45-65minutes of phantom usage. I'm really at a loss. I'm trying to go through any possible thing that could be using your iPhone's battery and not the Watch, but I think I've named everything that could possibly be it.

You could try turning of the news toggle in iCloud settings. I've read reports of that causing phantom usage but that wouldn't explain your Watch being connected unless that's truly coincidence every single time. I would say yes it is just a freak coincidence but I just don't know. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm just stunned that that's the case.

You and me both are stunned :). The news toggle is already turned off (most things are in my iCloud). I regret not getting a 7plus for the battery st the moment. I suggested to apple to have the watch checked out and replaced, but they seem adamant that it is an iCloud issue, even though they can't find anything after months of looking through logs.

Anyway; if 10.2 is not fixing it and apple doesn't want to help out I guess I just have to sell my watch. Making it through a day is more important than having it.

The Bluetooth headphones seem to be working fine as of yesterday evening all of the sudden. I could listen for 4 hours while browsing safari for 2 and having the screen on and I lost around 30 percent on the phone and five on the headphones.
