This is incredible Imo!
This existed also in ios9 for calls as well, usually it tried to update from incoming emails. It is cool except when colleagues forwards emails sent from others and iOS picks up the number from the original email and wants to assign it to the one who forwarded the email.

Can't tell if already discussed in this massive thread or not, but when someone new not in your contacts texts you and states their name, iOS 10 b1 auto fills with "Maybe: person's name"

This is incredible Imo!

In iOS 9 it will do this if someone calls you and their name/number is in an email. Very handy.
Edit: beaten to it.

Public Beta coming in July. Based on previous betas, when might we see this drop? Mid-late July?

Given that previous patterns haven't held up that much with developer beta 2 already, doesn't seem like much can be said one way or another about the public beta, aside that it will be sometime in July (if the original estimate holds).

Sorry if this has already been picked up, but just noticed the Music app widget in the app switcher. It loads Apple Music now even if you are using a third party app. Hopefully it will be able to launch the app you're using in future betas.

So now we can "love" or "dislike" a song from our songs, not Apple Music. What is the point of this? Won't play during shuffle?
This is already available in iOS 9. But I think the reason is adding one more category so that user can create smart playlists based on "loved" or not. I create a few smart playlists using "love" as well as star ratings. For songs I love to listen, "5 star + love", or "4 star + love".
Nothing much for non-subscribers.

This is an iOS 9 feature. It gets smarter with time, for example if you use Spotify, it will suggest Spotify

I have a quick question about iOS10, third party keyboards and iMessage...

So you are in iMessage with your third party keyboard, can you still use the new features that are coming up with regards to iMessage, or do you have to toggle back to the official iOS keyboard?

Thanks.

None of the new features are tied to the keyboard. They're right next to the textbox where your message goes.

Never noticed it on iOS 9 before.
If I'm remembering correctly, it was introduced as part of the Proactive feature set, definitely not new to iOS 10. I think that the idea is that it will suggest an app based on what you're normally doing around that time. For instance, I listen to a lot of podcasts so I'll usually see the Podcasts app as the suggestion there.

It's definitely more aggressive (at least in beta 1) than it ever was in iOS 9. I've been getting all sorts of apps showing up for the suggested app far more often (there seems to be one showing almost 80% of the time on my phone) In all of iOS 9 i rarely saw a suggested app. It shows on both the lock screen and app switcher.

Could be a bug with beta 1 or intended to be more aggressive in showing something.

Plus Apple adds back the option to suggest "apps in App Store". Apple may really want to do something on this proactive thing.

iMessage now can detect additional types of data for which it will provide more information. In iOS 9 this was limited to flight information from a few select airlines. If you typed in DL496, those characters would become a hyperlink, which, when clicked, would give you information on the latest status of Delta Airlines flight 496, plus a flight tracking map. Now that capability is expanded to other info types. At this point, this appears to be limited to some entertainers (Taylor Swift, Lin-Manuel Miranda, etc...) or certain movies (The Revenant). I'm sure this will be expanded.

I'm confused. You just type in "Taylor swift " in iMessage?

Yes, and when you send it, it will become a link in both your and your recipients version of the message.
Just tested this out on my device and it definitely works. It basically has an underline like when theres a phone number or date in a message and when tapped, it brings up relevant information. For The Revenant it brought up a movie card similar to what Siri presents when asked about movies. When I tried it with Lin-Manuel Miranda it presented what looked like the "Look up" view when defining a word with a link to his website, wikipedia entry, and a few web videos.

This is actually pretty awesome. I'm curious how far this will end up stretching and hope it at least can cover movies and musicians pretty well eventually. I tried sending "The Avengers" and that didn't have any results. Also tried "The BFG" thinking maybe it would work with a currently in-theaters but no luck there either. Still, pretty cool for the things it does work with and hope it expands in the future.
