LOL OP's entire three year post history is 100% anti Ive/Cook/ios 7+. That's commitment. Can't say he's being disingenuous.
I always thought the current iOS was a little too cartoony, especially with the icons compared to their more detailed and harmonious looking predecessors. I find the overly white interface to be a bit too much, there is practically no depth and contrast between the content and the app windows. I always thought Google was better at flat design than Apple and when it comes to iOS yes but as I've stated before, I actually don't hate the current look of OS X. In fact, that's the style that Apple should implement in future design revisions of iOS. I think iOS needs more shadowing and depth, less white, actual buttons and icons with more detail and consistency across the board. I think the current design language of OS X represents a much more refined and polished take on a flatter (but not completely flat) interface and still retains most of its character. I think iOS would look a lot better if they went 'Back to the Mac' but right now, iOS doesn't look as mature as it could or should be.You think the IOS interface is "stale and dated"? Go play with a Nexus phone running the latest Marshmallow OS and you'll quickly realize the current IOS interface is still MUCH better. The Android interface is still very flat/boring and the way it handles notifications just gives an overall "cartoony" type feel to it.
Going from my Nexus 5X to the iPhone 6s was a big wake up call to how much more refined and elegant the IOS experience is.
And no, this is not coming from an Android hater. I've owned the last 5 iterations of Nexus phones, including the Nexus 5X, which I still own. However, after receiving an iPhone 6s through work and going back and forth between the 5X and the 6s I ended up settling on the 6s due to loving just how much more "grown up" IOS feels when compared to the latest version of Android.
What's "dated" compared to those? Or is simply that they look different?Diffently needs redesign, looks outdated compared to Win 10 mobile and Android Marshallow

Isn't Windows like this?Yeah, I'll give you that. It still could use some work. I will say that the one thing I love about both OSX and Android is the individualized icon design for every app. I wish Apple would do this for IOS as well. Having every icon be the exact same size/shape is quite boring.
In case yours is 100% pro Ive/Cook/iOS 7+ i'm sure that's called hypocrisy, but no offense.LOL OP's entire three year post history is 100% anti Ive/Cook/ios 7+. That's commitment. Can't say he's being disingenuous.
Mmm nope, they allow transparencies and custom shapes.Isn't Windows like this?
I think the white space in the apps should be replaced with a light translucent grey similar to OS XiOS 7 design is too much white imo, and just have some neon colourd arrows, in safari and so on.
In my opinion Apple should remove all transparency as it's unnecessarily demands on hardware and go for variety of colors other than just white for toolbars and menus
The old design, even with all the different skeumorphic textures in the apps, managed to be a more fluid and polished OS.
Well maybe if Jony's ego didn't get in the way, we'd still have that polished and refined OS.It took Apple 5 years to reach that polished and fluid OS and you're comparing it to a 2 year old new design?

Hey at least the Notification Center had the social media and weather widgets, what happened to those? They're still on the Mac.Please tell me how (see screenshot) is more refined, polished or cleaner than iOS 7-9. Just look at the cluttered mess notification centre was.

Still, when I said Apple has removed certain features from iOS 6 for no reason, you proved my point.Lack of a Facebook widget has nothing to do with design...
Don't deflect the actual question.
Well, to be fair, at least as of iOS 8, you can add those via a third party widget, so while they aren't built-in it's not that much of a loss in functionality/use really.Hey at least the Notification Center had the social media and weather widgets, what happened to those? They're still on the Mac.

It doesn't make sense if they're still on OS X.Well, to be fair, at least as of iOS 8, you can add those via a third party widget, so while they aren't built-in it's not that much of a loss in functionality/use really.
It sounds like they decided that while they want to offer Facebook and Twitter integration in the background, they don't see the ability to post to Facebook or Twitter as important to offer a native widget for those. Perhaps it might also be related to adding integration with more services like Flickr and Vimeo, and then basically not wanting to play favorites and only offer shortcuts to some of them and not all of them, or just not offer those shortcuts to any of them.
As for weather, they seemed to have redesigned the idea behind it so that it's included in the summary rather than via a widget of its own (I would have liked to see it still be separate, but wth third party widgets available, I'm better off really since I have been able to find ones that are good looking and provide more interesting information that I can customize to fit my needs/wants).
Well maybe if Jony's ego didn't get in the way, we'd still have that polished and refined OS.
OS X and iOS are not the same and differ in all kinds of aspects. While I agree it's not really consistent, it doesn't mean that they couldn't have made one type of decision for one (for whatever reason, perhaps even with input from different people given that for the most part different teams work on different products), and another one for another. I'm not trying to say it's right or wrong or good or bad, simply thinking through the (likely) possibilities that are fairly grounded. It doesn't make sense if they're still on OS X.
They could've gotten anyone in the world to come in and redesign iOS but Cook chose Ive, a man who had ZERO prior experience in software design. You realize Craig Federighi is in charge of iOS and not Jony Ive right? Jony was only asked to redesign it since Scott was no longer with the company. Jony's ego indeed.
