As always don’t try and send the new emoji to anyone not on Beta 2. It comes up as question marks or boxes etc.

You’re like a broken record dude. It has already been confirmed that the delay was intentional to allow for the possibility of multiple taps on the home button.

It is definitely there.
Who confirmed it? Someone from Apple?

Please show confirmation. I've already hypothesized it, but there has never been confirmation.

What are you doing still running iOS 10.3.3? Upgrade man!
I really really wish I could but my 7 is so awesome on 10.3.3 and after reading all the horror stories of battery life woes and glitches and sluggishness I just can't do it. And I played with an iPhone 8 and compared it to my 7 running 10.3.3 and everything I did on my 7 felt faster and more responsive than the 8 which blew my mind. The home button delay is not something I can deal with. 10.3.3 will probably be on my 7 forever. I doubt they will change this and it's a huge bummer. But I guess they decided this delay feels best for the causal user and they don't want to confuse people by it reacting to fast so they decided to slow it back down to match the behavior of the physical button equipped iPhones of the past. The speedy behavior of the capacitive home buttons under iOS 10 is a one and done and it's a shame.

The delay is intentional to apparently allow for multiple home button taps, according to what a user earlier in this thread is saying.

Why do people think the delay is intentional. What proof is there that it is intentional. It is a bug, the same bug was present in iOS 10 and again people thought it was intentional only to be proven wrong when Apple fixed it. The same thing is going to happen here. Apple will fix it eventually and everyone who said this is intentional will yet again look foolish.

Agreed

Genuine question: This home button lag that so many people are crying over...is it where you single press the home button when in an app and it takes a tenth of a second to respond?
In addition, on affected devices the home button cannot be used to interrupt animations that are already in progress. On devices with a physical home button you can. So in some situations the iPhone 7 is less responsive than the iPhone 5s.

I don’t understand this argument. I have zero issues interrupting my 8 Plus animations. I can open and app and immediately hit the home button and it goes back to my home screen.

I don't care what anyone says about the home button delay, it's a step backwards from 10.3.3. It feels sluggish and adds unnecessary time to the multiple interactions throughout the day with my iPhone. The delay was there in earlier versions of iOS 10 and then got fixed even on the buttonless 7. Ultimately it won't make a difference on the X, but the 7/8 are pitiful. Just look at this year's speed comparison videos with Galaxy, etc. It's embarrassing how poor the 8 is doing.

So how’s overall performance? Smoother? Snappier? Apart from 3D Touch is there still lag present like there is on the current version?

I'm not sure this affects all devices/the 8. Or they could've fixed it? But it is shown in the video quoted below.

The home button lag has made my 7 Plus slower than my iPhone 6 running iOS 10. Video attached

What about battery performance.
It appears to have been fixed because noone is crying.
