That would certainly make for a compelling argument to have a pair of HomePods for use with the Apple TV.

Ha, Apple can keep their overpriced speakers.. already have both connected superior setups. I just hope they don't try and pull some bs and only support ATV5.

To each their own. No one has actually used one, so we really can't say if they're overpriced or not yet. I'm keeping an open mind.

True.. I mean I'm sure it will sound great for a singular device. However, for me.. I'd rather have a setup with proper speaker separation.

Buried in iOS 11 code is ‘Powerd’. In a series of tweets it was revealed Powerd is “responsible for controlling the CPU/GPU speed and power usage based on iPhone battery health”. More virtuously Powerd has a failsafe which makes sure your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch doesn’t catch fire, but it also will increasingly slow your device as your battery degrades and operates independently of the official Low Power Mode.
powerd is the power management daemon, and does essentially the same thing as it has done on OS X for years. It manages power consumption not just for the CPU and GPU, but all of the components in the phone (or computer). When the CPU in your phone (or computer) clocks down or goes to sleep during periods of low or no activity, that's powerd. When you put your phone (or computer) to sleep, that's powerd.

It's very likely that powerd is responsible for the new behavior of throttling the phone based on degraded battery characteristics, but that is very much a minor part of what it actually does.

See, I don't have a problem with this as long as Apple tells us what's going on.

If there were a section in settings for battery health that would say "Your battery is failing. Performance has been reduced so you can still use your phone, but you should replace your battery as soon as possible." when this happens, I'd be perfectly okay with it.

But no, they hide it from the user. The phone just slows down without explanation, and it took a lot of testing and experimentation by dedicated people to discover this. Damnit Apple, this is a customer service issue. Fix it.
Yeah, it would be great if Apple included some hint of battery health in the power settings screen, similar to what they do on laptops.

Hi,
I am on the iphone 8 plus. I signed up for the beta program and installed 11.2.5 beta 1. I have not received ota notification of beta 2 even after checking many times. I tried to uninstall my profile and reinstall to see if it would appear and it did not. I even went back to 11.2.1 with a full restore and then downloaded the beta profile again and then installed beta ota. The ota was beta 1. I still have no beta 2. Anyone else in this boat? any suggestions>

The Public Beta is not out yet. Should be out in 17 minutes.

Run a Geekbench score on your iPhone 6. Likely its being throttled by Apple.
Please Radon, don't state "facts" of which you have no clue or first hand knowledge. Attached are screen shots from my iPhone 6 (16 GB) for GeekBench 4 and CPU DasherX proving otherwise.

I don't see a correlation between any of these posts, no one mentioned anything about their phone being slow and these images provide no relevant context either.
If you will take the time to read Radon's post, my response is only to his assertion that Apple is throttling the iPhone 6. Read before you reply my friend.

They are throttling based on battery health/level according to staff at Geekbench and several user reports.

In fairness, its not just Radon that asserting this. There are lots of other technical sources who have uncovered this issue. But I have a 6 that seems to be working just fine after 3+ years as well.

"Several user reports" does not equate to millions. Certainly not the case with my now oldish and well used iPhone 6.
It doesn't require millions, only one for it to be a fact.

I haven't experienced this issue, but I'm not going to write it off just because of my personal experience either. It definitely isn't affecting everyone.

Here's the Macrumors article about this: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/12/18/geekbench-iphone-6s-slowdowns/

Edit: The new article where Apple officially addresses it https://www.macrumors.com/2017/12/20/apple-addresses-iphone-throttling-degraded-battery/

My 6s is over two years old and my battery performance/Geekbench scores are perfectly normal (actually, even a little better with this latest beta).

Any notable issues on the iPhone X? debating whether to try this beta or not. Also, is it true the animations are much faster than 11.2.1?

Now getting haptic feedback every time I dismiss the control center. On beta 1, it would provide feedback half of the time. This is a welcome change!

And now Apple has responded and admitted to the 'power management' throttling issue.

Did you try CPU Dasher when your battery level is lower (I’m not talking about battery general condition but charge level)? On my iPhone 6 CPU clock is significantly lowered when not close to 100%. And I’m not talking about low power mode...
