A bunch of apps were just updated but there were no blue dots next to the app icons indicating that they were recently updated. Weird.

I'm seeing the "new update" blue dot on all my updated apps. Weird.

However, there is a small "download" icon next to one of my apps (ZoomUnits). When I tap on it, it says "Unable to Install 'ZoomUnits'. The app is no longer available in the App Store." ... that seems to be new in iOS 11.2 betas.

Wondering if this might be a 32-bit app... but Settings > General > About > Applications does not appear to be "clickable"... either that, or it's not a 32-bit app and the "Applications" is not clickable of there are no 32-bit apps installed. It's curious.

The weather widget bug still hasn't been fixed. My watch knows my actual location, while the phone widget still thinks I'm at home... and the info is wrong compared to the watch.

The 'download cloud' has been there since the first beta of 11. It means that your app is no longer on the App Store, and thanks to iTunes 12.7, you can't manually load it either.

Well, isn't that just lovely? :( Thanks, I figured it was something like that.

You can grab the 12.6 "downdate(?)" and use that to push it. Or if you're on a Mac, I think you still can via the iPhone Configurator?

I was in the same boat on my SE; I had intended to keep it on 10.3.3 just to keep my 32bit apps, but I found that the microphone was broken and when I got it replaced, I couldn't restore my local backup without iTunes demanding I go to 11. Needless to say, I was not and am not a happy camper.

Yeah, some of Apple's "improved" "forward thinking" is just a bit flawed. This app isn't a big deal, but it's the principle. I'm all in on the "walled garden", but sometimes, these changes certainly appear to be arbitrary.

Not sure if troll or serious. Hmm.

no I'm serious - he is constantly complaining - seems that battery life is his new 'go to' now that the planned obsolescence thread is shut down. Something else will follow once the obsession on the battery life passes.

With the amount he complains he could do himself a favor and just switch platforms.

with beta 3 i can now plug my phone into my car stereo...but i have to kill music app, open music, remove cable, plug cable;
I need to do that also if switch between radio / music or pause/start

Already did a clean wipe and install about 5 times. It stays the exact same 7 hours of battery life.

I highly doubt it’s the battery as Coconut Battery reports excellent battery health but I think I will have to take a trip down to the Apple Store and see if anything comes out of it. If it doesn’t, my X is coming next month and I may keep that and sell off my 7 Plus before I put in a 100 bucks next year for battery wear as I charge it twice a day. Because as it stands I am not enjoying my phone. With Pixel 2 XL and iPhone 8 Plus getting 2 day Battery I am not going to tolerate such low battery.

Have you tried other battery health apps to see if you get a different report? Definitely sounds like something is off. My iPhone 6 is three years old and apparently at 88.4% of original capacity (1600 mAh vs. 1810 mAh). "Battery Life" app I'm looking at right now says I can get 9 hours of LTE web browsing or 10 hours of Wi-Fi web browing on a 99% charge. Pretty good for 3 years old!

Yes that sounds good ... but there’s a real difference between what you actually get and what some battery app “says” that you’ll get. Real life matters.

It is the “offload apps” feature that
(1) does not save any space at all. On my phone, app size is 1/10 or even 1/50 of app data size, especially for games and file managers.
(2) introduces the risk of not being able to use certain apps because they are pulled.
(3) causes frustration.
The true way to save is to delete unused apps altogether, saving a lot of headaches and getting rid of this abysmal feature.

Yes, it works fine for my needs. I don't use my phone that much during the day.

So far beta 3 seems to be an improvement over 11.1.1 for me on the X. The opening animation when I swipe up immediately no longer stalls. The cold weather bug seems to be resolved. Only snafu I had was the phone clearly rebooted in the middle of the night because it asked me for my password do to a restart when I got up. Anyone else confirm the typing in cold weather bug is fixed with this beta. I have not been able to test it extensively as its not that cold here in SF but it happened a few times on 11.1 for me.

This beta is pretty polished, runs better than beta 2 on the 7 +. Most likely one more beta and 11.2 is done.

Beta life, onto 11.3 folks..

Rolled back to iOS 11.1.1 on my iPhone 8. No matter what I tried, the Phone app was completely borked. I'll give Beta 4 a shot if they fix that bug. Other than that, Beta 3 was decent.

I use my phone a great deal, my signal isn't superb in my office, and there's no wifi to hop on.

Never
have I needed to charge my phone more than once a day. My 7 Plus would make it an entire day (6am-11pm+), my SE needs topped off after lunch. My X makes it through the day, albeit with less in reserve than my 7 Plus did.

If you're charging twice a day, the problem isn't iOS11, it's you.

I have already done my own testing through a suite of apps. I tried to take very good care of my battery this year. I thought maybe part of the reason my iPhone 6 battery depreciated so badly was because I was using the iPad charger and I stopped using it for my 7 Plus. I took extreme care of itl. iOS 11 has thrown it all out of the windows though

The battery apps on the app store aren't reliable as iOS doesn't give them access to the proper variables. As you can see here, Battery Life app on iOS is saying 100% health which is wrong.

Are you keeping your 7 Plus on LTE or WiFi the whole day?

Same here. Phone app was a mess. Back to 11.1.1 for me.
